My name is Samuel and I graduated from Cambridge University in 2007 with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. In addition to this, I hold a Professional Tutoring Certificate (Distinction awarded) and I am a fully qualified teacher too. I have a passion for teaching/tutoring Mathematics and Sciences (mostly Physics, Chemistry and Biology) to GCSE and A-level students. I have mentored and tutored students from an assorted array of backgrounds since 2002, helping some to get to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities and helping them with interview preparations when requested. My teaching journey started in 2002 when I took a year out working as an assistant/support teacher actively involved in mentoring, lesson planning and marking. I take pride in having been commended for my teaching style where I always ensure to explain everything in the simplest of manners and take an approach that most suits the student to bring out their best effort. After graduating from Cambridge, I went on to seek professional employment as a graduate engineer but never left my passion for teaching. I therefore volunteered as a STEM ambassador where I shared my passion for Science and Mathematics to students from various backgrounds. I continue to take utmost joy and pleasure in tutoring and helping students attain their full potential; and in this regard, I can assure any prospective students that they’ll be getting the most out of their time and money whilst paving way for a bright future.

I went to St Paul's School and took 11 GCSEs ending up with 4A*s, 5As, and 2Bs (with an A* in Maths and Physics). I then took 4 A Levels and achieved an A* in Maths, and Bs in Further Maths, Physics and R.S. Tutoring Experience: I have been tutoring on and off for the last 7 or so years. I'm most experienced with GCSE and A-Level maths tutoring, but I've also taught 11+, Physics and Coding. I've taught all ages from 7 to 18. Teaching Style: I believe that every student is capable of achieving excellent results no matter their ability, and I always try to raise my student's confidence in the subject first. I then do what I can to make learning fun for the pupil by using videos, games, flashcards and coming up with fun questions to test them. Tutor House's approach to A-Level tuition

Our approach to A-Level tuition at Tutor House is a holistic one, as we believe that:

  • The key to attaining exceptional grades relies not only on knowledge of the subject but also confidence.

  • A-Level tuition is all about acquiring skills that we can take with us on to further study.

  • Our students benefit from both our exceedingly high tuition standards and a level of care and compassion that other tutoring agencies cannot match.

In addition to improving subject knowledge and identifying weaker areas, our A-Level tutors are dedicated to helping students improve their own study skills, exam preparation, and personal organisation. We understand that there is a great deal of pressure to achieve exceptional grades at A-Level, now more so than ever. We are able to offer support at this stressful time for both our students and their parents.

Why choose a Tutor House A Level Tutor?

Most of our A-Level tutors hold university degrees in their subjects. - We only work with the best private tutors in London, so most of the tutors we employ have a degree-level qualification in their teaching subject from leading global universities.

Every tutor is interviewed by us. - We only want to provide the best private tutors for our clients. Our recruitment team abides by a rigorous recruitment process and all our private tutors are interviewed internally so our clients know that they are working with only the best tutors in London.

All private tutors have a valid DBS certificate. - We ensure that all of our tutors have a valid DBS certificate before they are able to work with our clients.

We encourage constant feedback from our tutors to parents. - We believe communication is key. Studies have shown that private tutorials can ensure the student can improve significantly in just a few sessions, and that’s why we encourage constant feedback from our tutors so that parents can really understand the pace of development and evaluate the student’s improvement and progress

Tutoring FAQs

A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.

A

Booking and paying for private tuition has never been easier! As a customer, you’ll need to add your credit or debt card details to your profile after you sign in. You can pay the tutor directly and securely through the Tutor House website. However, if you do pay outside of the Tutor House site, you will not be protected by our 48 hour Cancelation Policy, nor our Disputes or Refunds Policy, we also do not guarantee that you’ll be protected from fraud. You will then receive a confirmation email notifying you of the hours completed with the tutor. The email will also confirm the date and time that the lesson(s) took place. Payment will be automatically processed by Tutor House’s Payment Service Provider (PSP). We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private. Our tutors get paid on the same day of the lesson, so please make sure that you’ve confirmed the lesson before your tutor arrives. Of course! We use Stripe as our third party payment platform. Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.
