I am an economics student in my third and final year at the University of Bristol, currently living in London. I have a job offer for technology consulting at Deloitte which I will be starting next September after graduation. I have been giving private lessons for three years now, with my students obtaining an A or higher. I am happy to help other students of all ages at any education level up to A levels, for mathematics and economics. My teaching method varies depending on the student - some students love a more tutor-led approach (very similar to a lesson at school). The structure of these kinds of lessons involve starting with reviewing content and then answering questions on what has been taught. On the other hand, many students prefer coming to the session with questions and work they have already started perhaps find challenging. In this case, the structure of the lesson is predominately set by the student. In my GCSEs I have obtained 10 A*-A, with an A* mathematics. For my A levels I have obtained all A's in maths, economics, chemistry. I am happy to tutor over Skype or in person.

I am an enthusiastic, dedicated and sympathetic tutor who works hard to get the most out his pupils. I have a strong academic record having graduated with a First Class degree from Durham University, and gained A*’s in A-Level Math and Further Maths, and A in A-Level Physics whilst at Elizabeth College In Guernsey. I also worked hard leading critical thinking group The Saravia Society, and leading charity outreach as second senior prefect at secondary school, and led one of the largest student theatre societies in the UK, Durham Student Theatre. I now works as freelance production manager in events and theatre. I spent three years at Transport for London as an engineer and advisor Whilst I was there, I delivered STEM workshops in schools across London, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, and for the Transport Museum. Whilst at university, I worked to deliver engagement and learning events with local schools, and also tutored numerous GCSE students in Maths and Physics, helping them achieve A and A* grades. I work hard to tailor my lessons to the students and their abilities; helping them to maximise these through encouragement and support. I am keen to create a pace that suits the pupil and to build a relationship that inspires them to work hard and achieve high.

I was one of the highest achievers at High School and continue to do well academically at Loughborough University, where I am a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student. I achieved 81% in my first year at University and am on course for a similar score for 2nd year. I also got 9 A* in my GCSE's and 3 A* in Physics, Math and Accounts and an A in Chemistry in A-levels. I also completed Further Math in A-levels, and have continued to do it in University, so I have a very good grasp of the concepts taught and in-depth knowledge of it as well. I hope to use my knowledge and abilities in these fields to help students who may be finding some of these concepts difficult to understand. I have been able to help numerous of my fellow classmates with exam problems and doubts they have, which has then helped them to score well for the exams and tests, and eventually helped them to progress to the Universities of their choice. Having studied math and excelled in it, I believe the best way to learn and improve in the subject is by practicing numerous questions from different books and past papers. This is what I focused on mostly when I was studying math during school and University and is the best way to prepare for the exams. Practicing questions is what I would focus on as a tutor as well, and it would expose students to different types of questions and tricky situations, and would enable them to be well-prepared for whatever the exam throws at them. During my time at school and even at University, I also made it a point to never be overburdened with academics, and I regularly played sports, like football and cricket, to keep my mind attentive and sharp. This is something I would suggest to any students doing their GCSE's or A-levels, as some form of exercise is a good way to relax and to ensure that you remain focused.

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away!

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.
