Hello! I am currently a Second Year Medical Student, studying at Barts and the London. During my A levels, I chose to take on the role of a tutor for my Biology class, giving extra lessons after school and providing help for those who needed it. I also have substantial knowledge of UCAS, UKCAT, Interviews as well as personal statements. I enjoy teaching students and providing incentives to help them learn. My times are very flexible and it is very likely that I can work around your timetable, especially if it is in the evening. I am particularly skilled in A level biology and Chemistry, both of which were my strongest subjects and I have a good depth of knowledge for the both of them, but I am also skilled in mathematics, as I have done Mathematics for A level, further mathematics for AS level and I have received multiple UK Maths Challenge certificates. Feel free to drop me a message if you're interested!

A-Level Chemistry Course Breakdown

The A-level Chemistry course is highly challenging, covering a lot of topics in considerable depth. Working with a private A-Level Chemistry tutor is the best way to ensure students are able to understand all aspects of the syllabus and develop the right knowledge and skills to succeed. Broadly speaking, A level Chemistry curriculum will be built around 3 core pillars; Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. These areas of chemistry will be further broken down into modules for assessment. While different A-level exam boards, such as AQA, Edexcel and OCR, will have variations within the materials, there are a number of features that will form part of every A-level Chemistry course.

Physical Chemistry: Physical Chemistry comprises of the general theories and practices in Chemistry, basically practical skills and basic principles of knowledge all Chemists need to know. Within Physical Chemistry A-level modules, students will build on the knowledge attained from completing their GCSE in Chemistry, learning about topics such as atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, thermodynamics and Oxidation, reduction and redox equations (to name a few), whilst also learning the fundamental practical skills, such as safety procedure and experiment design.
Inorganic Chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry looks at organometallic and inorganic compounds, in particular how they behave and synthesise. Within this aspect of the A-level Chemistry course, students will study topics including periodicity, catalysts, the halogens and alkaline earth metals, transitioning metals and ion reaction. A lot of theoretical knowledge is explored via the use of practical experiments to help students understand the properties of inorganic chemical compounds.
Organic Chemistry: Organic chemistry involves the study of organic compounds and materials, i.e. the ones that contain carbon atoms, in terms of their properties, structure and how they react. Topics covered in Organic Chemistry modules include alkanes, alkenes, alcohols and amines, amino acids, proteins and DNA, aromatic chemistry, polymers, ozone depletion, chromatography and optical isomerism, along with many others. Students will use a variety of practical experiments to test theories and cement their understanding of chemical processes in organic compounds.
General course requirements and examination: Successful A-level Chemistry students will acquire a detailed understanding of chemical principles, terminology and theory along with perfecting practical skills involved in scientific experimentation. The course teaches students to utilise data and information to interpret chemical phenomena, and then how to turn their interpretations into ideas, arguments and theories with a logical, evidence-based foundation. The learning will be divided into and assessed in modules with the majority of the final grade being based on module exams.

    A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

    A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

    A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

    A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

    A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

    A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.

    A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

    A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

    A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

Benefits of studying Chemistry at A-Level

Studying Chemistry at A-level has a wealth of benefits, both in terms of the opportunities a top grade opens up for students and in terms of the valuable skills and knowledge students develop during the course. With the support of a private A-level Chemistry tutor, students can expect to reap the following rewards for their hard work:
