Hi! My name is Yaiza and I have recently graduated from Newcastle University with a Distinction in an MA in Education and International Development. In addition to this, I have a degree in Mathematics and I am starting my PGCE in Maths in Goldsmith University in September 2019. · A little bit about my work experience: During these years, I have developed not only a strong interest in the process of learning but also gained experience tutoring adolescents and young adults in Maths and IT. At the moment, I am working as progress leader in a secondary school for students that have been expelled from mainstream schools and my main role is to support learners, either in small groups or one-to-one, to work to the best of their abilities. In addition to this, I have experience developing and implementing new learnings activities in schools as well as working with refugees to improve their English skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening). Lastly, I also have experience supporting young adults with learning difficulties during their daily routines. · A little bit about my skills and approach to tutoring: Through my different roles within the education sector, I came to understand that the biggest obstacles that students face while studying Maths are fear and lack of understanding of the maths concepts they learn at school. Unfortunately, in many schools there is still a believe that either you are born to understand maths or you are not, and thus many teachers decide to give a number of steps to memorise rather than explain the logics behind any mathematical exercise. So, during my tutoring session I make sure the student feels capable to do the exercise and understand what he/she is doing at anytime. Moreover, during these years, I have developed several key interpersonal skills, such as empathy and good listening, and matured my emotional intelligence. Well, this is me! Hope you liked and looking forward to hearing from you!

Who can benefit from a Drama tutor?

Drama is a hugely valuable subject for any student to learn, especially in terms of the skills that are learnt through studying it. From teaching students public speaking skills to helping them establish enough confidence to perform on stage, a Drama tutor will be able to help you excel in a subject that can really make a student stand out going forward in their academic career, in job interviews, and in the workplace.

Primary Drama Tutor - Tutor House’s passionate, friendly and highly qualified primary Drama tutors will help children who may be struggling with Drama to get a firm handle on anything they don’t understand or find difficult. It is important to establish the skills that Drama students attain through studying Drama at this formative stage of a child’s education, as it sets them up for success in the future. However, children at this stage may find Drama to be challenging - especially when it comes to building up the courage to perform in front of audiences.

A Tutor House Drama tutor will ensure that children don’t let their nerves get the better of them by providing personalised teaching programmes aimed at addressing any worries that a child may have. Our tutors will work tirelessly with their students in order to motivate them and build up their confidence so that they don’t miss out on any opportunities and can really excel at this important stage of their Drama career.
IGCSE or GCSE Drama Tutor - GCSE drama courses consist of multiple different modules which require students to demonstrate both theoretical and practical skills. In modules that are focused on the performative side of Drama, students will be required to devise dramatic pieces, and contribute either in terms of performing of designing. Students will also then need to assess and evaluate their work. Drama students will also be required to demonstrate a deeper understanding of drama and theatre, and be able to analyse plays and explain their respective themes and contexts.

GCSE Drama is a big step up, and can be challenging for many students. It not only requires students to tap into a diverse range of skills, from acting to writing to backstage work, but, for some students, performing in front of other people is a very intimidating task to undertake. A private Drama tutor can make a real difference to a Drama student’s GCSE experience and can help students to realise their true potential. Private Drama tuition creates a safe learning environment and a personalised learning plan designed to address each individual student’s specific issues to ensure that they come out on top.
Pre-U, IB or A-Level Drama Tutor - Drama A-Level can be intimidating for students, and it is a big step up from GCSE, both in terms of workload and the length and quality of performative work that is expected. At this level of study, the content that students are expected to engage with becomes more diverse, and students must demonstrate a more thorough understanding of the theoretical concepts behind Drama and the theatre. Students will also be required to devise pieces of original theatre and to analyse and evaluate extracts from plays.

Tutor House have a whole bank of qualified Drama tutors who specialise in teaching A-Level Drama and will know the syllabus inside and out. At this critical level of study, it is imperative that students are successful in their dramatic endeavours, especially if they are wanting to pursue a career in the field. Private A-Level Drama tutors will be able to hone in on any areas that you may be struggling with and ensure that you are getting the most out of your Drama A-Level. Hire a Tutor House A-Level Drama tutor today and reap the benefits.

Tutoring FAQs

A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.

A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website.
