I am currently a third-year medical student at University College London. I am available to tutor immediately and can do weekends too. I have had many valuable opportunities in tutoring that have built up my teaching skills to date. Teaching GCSE and A-Level students at school and after school has developed my skill to adapt my teaching style in order to fit with any candidate's ability and way of learning. Many of the students I have mentored in school have had results above expectations and went on to go to university studying their passions away. I also have had many experiences with a specialised company tutoring medical and dental school applicants for their interviews. I, myself, have had three interviews at UCL, Sheffield and St George's medical schools. I was offered a place to study medicine at the three universities. My diverse experiences in this field and the communication skills that I have developed in medical school allow me to give valuable advice for university admissions and interviews. My 14A*s at GCSE and my 3A*s and 3As at A-level permit me to teach most of the subjects I undertook confidently. I am originally from Egypt, I am fluent in Arabic and half-fluent in French. I am currently undertaking a research project during my medical course in molecular biology, reaching the limits of what we know about cells and disease has allowed me to delve into these subjects beyond what is written in textbooks and journals. I am very passionate about what I study and I carry this through in my lessons. I am also extremely passionate about teaching as this forms a huge part of my future career. Looking forward to helping you achieve your potential. Thank you.

I am a highly experienced tutor of Mathematics, Physics, Science and German. I have been a private tutor since 2009. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and abilities immensely. Seeing someone develop throughout the course of our work together is extremely rewarding. I am native German and graduated from (the German equivalent to) Grammar School with an A average, after which I did my Bachelors Degree here in London, graduating in the top set of my year. Being a native German speaker, I enjoy sharing my mother tongue with students from all around the world. Throughout the years I have taught students of all kinds of backgrounds including children of German parents, who wanted help raising their children bilingually, as well as UK students, who need help improving their German skills in school and adults, who want to learn the language to expand their career opportunities. My main focus group in Maths and Physics are students from the age of 11 to 16 (Levels KS3 to GCSE). I have also always found great interest and joy in Maths and Science and my main goal is not only to help students to improve their grades, but to also encourage them to find a greater understanding and fun in the subjects they might have a lack of enthusiasm for. I am able to communicate material that might sound hard and unmanageable in school in a clearer way, so that my students get a much better and deeper grasp of the subject. They are then able to transfer these acquired skills to their work in school. I only teach subjects that I feel passionate about and I believe that shows in my teaching approach. In my opinion learning a new language or improving oneself in a certain subject is a team effort between the teacher and the student, which is exactly how I treat my lessons. My lessons are tailored to the specific needs of my students. I follow their school curriculum to support their learning at school but alter from it, if I find a different approach to a certain topic would be beneficial to the student. Every students learns differently and I incorporate that into the development of our lessons. The same goes for my adult learner students. We all have a busy daily schedule and I acknowledge that. But I still keep a heavy focus on the goal set in the beginning of our lessons.

Tutoring FAQs

A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

Booking and paying for private tuition has never been easier! As a customer, you’ll need to add your credit or debt card details to your profile after you sign in. You can pay the tutor directly and securely through the Tutor House website. However, if you do pay outside of the Tutor House site, you will not be protected by our 48 hour Cancelation Policy, nor our Disputes or Refunds Policy, we also do not guarantee that you’ll be protected from fraud. You will then receive a confirmation email notifying you of the hours completed with the tutor. The email will also confirm the date and time that the lesson(s) took place. Payment will be automatically processed by Tutor House’s Payment Service Provider (PSP). We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private. Our tutors get paid on the same day of the lesson, so please make sure that you’ve confirmed the lesson before your tutor arrives. Of course! We use Stripe as our third party payment platform. Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

While you think it is faster it elevates your risk and you use lose all the benefits of Tutor House policies. Paying the tutor directly is NOT secure nor protected. If you do pay a tutor outside of the Tutor House website you will not be protected by our 48 Hour Cancelation Policy, our Disputes Policy or our Refund Policy. We also can not protect you from fraud or spam accounts. Before messaging a tutor you are required to sign our Terms and Conditions. Any loss of earning would be considered a legal matter. Tutor House is designed to introduce excellent tutors to customers putting tutors in touch with students and learners. We help and support students to get the best out of their learning experience. If you use the Tutor House website you must complete all bookings within the online platform, including the arrangement of any other services provided by tutors for clients. If you make any arrangement with a tutor that you were introduced to through Tutor House, outside the online platform, either for tuition or payment, you will have broken our terms and conditions. In this case, neither the tutor or customer (parent or student) will be protected or covered, as mentioned above. For more information about payment please refer to our terms and conditions.

A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

Thank you.
