Fully qualified Teacher (PGCE) with a First Class Honour Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art. I have been teaching for just over 3 years now. I spent my first year teaching a BTEC Art qualification at Level 1,2 and 3. This year was in a college setting, working with young adults and teenagers to build their portfolios and knowledge base of Art. Encouraging them to explore, test, investigate and make mistakes in their work to help expand their confidence and sophistication in their Artwork. The second two years have been in an Offender Learning setting, where the key objective whilst teaching Art were focused on cultivating self-belief, expression and confidence. Working in this setting has aloud me the experience of tutoring people with a range of challenges and from diverse backgrounds, from mild learning difficulties, mental health issues, personal issues and cultural barriers. My non-judgemental approach, patient and resilience has really helped with the progression of my students development. I have studied a variety of subjects over the years from GCSE level to Post-graduate degree, I am happy and interested to tutor and support the development of a range of subjects that I have experience in. In addition to being an academic teacher, I am also a fully qualified Yoga teacher and hold regular classes for adults, teenagers and children. I am passionate about helping individuals grow. I believe to be a successful tutor you need to know your students well, see everyone as individuals, by gaining an understanding of their interests, fears, obstacles, dreams, motivations and personality traits. A lot of the current education system assumes everyone should fit into the same square peg hole, not allowing space to develop people on an individual level, leaving many feeling low, deflated, unsuccessful and stuck. If this is the case, I will work hard to uncover those challenges and barriers, finding out what is holding the student back from realising their full potential. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to do their best and be proud of their achievements. I have an encouraging, friendly and supportive approach to tutoring, offering regular positive praise and constructive feedback to help support the development and progress of my students. I am proud to share that I encouraged several of my students last year to enter an Art competition: The Koestler Awards. This is a charity that supports the Arts within the probation services, secure units and prisons over the UK. They hold an Art competition every year. Last year they had thousands of entrants and three of my students won Gold and Platinum awards for the categories of drawing, portraits, calligraphy and watercolour. This was such a huge achievements for those individuals who had never achieved a qualification at school, never mind winning an award from a national competition! Everyone has the potential to do wonderful things and no one should feel stuck. I want to help people realise their full potential and help them along their path. Whether that is helping with a difficult topic, overcoming an obstacle, or maybe it is to develop those final last skills to really give their grades a boost to reflect their hard-work, dedication and efforts.

I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at UCL and work as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Education at McGill University, Canada. I specialized in developmental psychology during my MSc. Studies at the Anna Freud Center, UCL. Over the course of my academic, clinical and professional careers, I tutored undergraduate students with their prerequisite psychology courses (Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Behavioural Neuroscience, Perception, Cognition). I have multiple years of experience working with hard-to-reach, hard-to-engage students in different complex settings. I am an experienced IB tutor in psychology and TOK. In addition, I mentor students with their university applications and personal statements (UCAS, Canadian & US applications). I believe in open, encouraging and attuned teaching. My basic tutoring approaches are to guide students to discover what type of learning style works for them; gain lots of feedback and tailor the sessions to suit the learning needs of students; combine multiple visual and creative strategies to encourage learning. Tutoring FAQs

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

I love to practice mindfulness and encourage all my students to use mindfulness strategies to deal with the different stressors in their lives. I am also a big fan of spoken word poetry.
