I am a BSc Mathematics student at the University of Surrey. I am currently in my second year of studies and have completed Maths and Further Maths at A level. I am from Milan, Italy and moved here 4 years ago to complete sixth form college. I have had experience working with children (ages 6-14) at my local church in Milan. I am only now starting to give private tutor lessons, however, I have had experience teaching my three younger siblings ages 9 and 18, therefore I am comfortable when working with children of all ages, helping them to achieve results showing the best of their abilities. Additionally, I have lead a number of study groups with my fellow coursemates everyone, including myself, have achieved First Class honours in the first year of university.

I am a second year PhD student in the Control System group at the University Of Manchester. I graduated with a first class in Computer Engineering (undergraduate degree) and a distinction in Advanced Control and System Engineering (MSc). I currently work as a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) in addition to my research work at the University of Manchester. I have been a GTA for two years now. I have worked as a lab assistant after my undergraduate studies where I help students with problems they may encounter during the lab sessions. I also worked as a volunteer for a charity to teach less privileged children mathematics and to enthuse them to take up STEM subjects. I am a person that is very patient with people and as such, I take my time to make sure students understand what I teach. I try to understand the strength and weakness of my students and help them to improve on both.

A-Level Spanish Course Breakdown

Whilst syllabuses vary slightly, A-Level Spanish across exam boards aims to test students on their speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities. Students will have to demonstrate that they are proficient in all of these modes of communication, whilst also showing that they have built considerably on the skills attained at GCSE Level.

The A-Level Spanish course is taught across a two year period, over which students will develop their language skills whilst also strengthening their cultural, political and social awareness. Students will learn about Spanish-speaking societies and the dynamic shifts that have occurred throughout their history. In the first year of the course, students will study social context and the artistic life of Spanish-speaking countries, whereas the second year focuses more closely on multiculturalism and related topics. Students will also be required to engage with the political landscape in Hispanic culture, looking specifically at youth and their engagement with politics.

Students are also required to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the grammatical systems and structures of the Spanish language including nouns, articles, adjectives, numerals, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. They must demonstrate their grammatical proficiency through accurately and actively using the correct grammatical forms in their writing.

The other major element of the course asks students to engage with literary artefacts, either in the form of texts or films. Students will need to engage with the materials from a critical perspective, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of their themes and their relevance as cultural artefacts. They must clearly show that they have understood the intention of the text, whilst also considering the techniques and form used in order to present a clear and concise written argument that is both coherent and grammatically correct.

Students studying for Spanish A-Level will learn how to use language spontaneously in order to start and carry conversations, ask and answer questions, argue a point critically and analyse speech and writing. Throughout all their verbal communication students will need to maintain high levels of pronunciation, morphology and syntax, grammar and vocabulary.

Study a foreign language if you have opportunity to do so. You may never be called to a land where that language is spoken, but the study will have given you a better understanding of your own tongue or of another tongue you may be asked to acquire - Gordon B. Hinckley

You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

    A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

    A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

    A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

Hinckley

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer.

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued.
