I am a friendly and hardworking student who is currently studying Biomedical Sciences at King's College London University which compliments my passion for mathematics and the sciences. Studying a degree composed of biology and chemistry has allowed me to further increase and strengthen my knowledge in these subjects, allowing me to be very knowledgeable on the contents taught in both GCSE and A Level Sciences. Through tutoring, I aim to provide great confidence to all students and help them to enjoy the subjects that they may find challenging. Since I appreciate that every individual has a different style of learning, I aim to adapt my teaching methods to suit each individual in order to provide the best experience and to deliver the content effectively. I am highly aware of the course structure for the subjects I tutor as well as exam techniques and the different effective approaches to learn content that students often find challenging. My style of teaching is to use diagrams, past papers questions and to deliver engaging sessions to make sure that students have grasped key concepts and are confident enough to tackle an exam style question. For mathematics, I am aware of many methods and different approaches which can be used to simplify difficult questions which are beneficial and time-saving skills that are useful in exams. Working in retail for almost 2 years has made me a very calm, understanding and helpful person which are important qualities all tutors should have. I give great importance to every individual that I teach and will aim to deliver the best assistance in helping each individual to achieve their target grades.

A-Level Spanish Course Breakdown

Whilst syllabuses vary slightly, A-Level Spanish across exam boards aims to test students on their speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities. Students will have to demonstrate that they are proficient in all of these modes of communication, whilst also showing that they have built considerably on the skills attained at GCSE Level.

The A-Level Spanish course is taught across a two year period, over which students will develop their language skills whilst also strengthening their cultural, political and social awareness. Students will learn about Spanish-speaking societies and the dynamic shifts that have occurred throughout their history. In the first year of the course, students will study social context and the artistic life of Spanish-speaking countries, whereas the second year focuses more closely on multiculturalism and related topics. Students will also be required to engage with the political landscape in Hispanic culture, looking specifically at youth and their engagement with politics.

Students are also required to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the grammatical systems and structures of the Spanish language including nouns, articles, adjectives, numerals, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. They must demonstrate their grammatical proficiency through accurately and actively using the correct grammatical forms in their writing.

The other major element of the course asks students to engage with literary artefacts, either in the form of texts or films. Students will need to engage with the materials from a critical perspective, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of their themes and their relevance as cultural artefacts. They must clearly show that they have understood the intention of the text, whilst also considering the techniques and form used in order to present a clear and concise written argument that is both coherent and grammatically correct.

Students studying for Spanish A-Level will learn how to use language spontaneously in order to start and carry conversations, ask and answer questions, argue a point critically and analyse speech and writing. Throughout all their verbal communication students will need to maintain high levels of pronunciation, morphology and syntax, grammar and vocabulary.

Study a foreign language if you have opportunity to do so. You may never be called to a land where that language is spoken, but the study will have given you a better understanding of your own tongue or of another tongue you may be asked to acquire - Gordon B. Hinckley

Benefits of studying Spanish at A-Level

Although it is a challenging course, the benefits of studying Spanish A-level are considerable. Not only does Spanish A-Level equip students with proficient Spanish speaking, writing, listening and reading skills, but it also provides a wealth of transferable skills that can be taken forward into the remainder of a student’s academic career and beyond.

Skills - A-Level Spanish is a considerable leap from GCSE, in terms of both the quality and the quantity of the work that students are required to do. Students must also step up in terms of their independent learning and are expected to dedicate considerable time outside of the classroom to honing their skills and improving their knowledge. As a result of this, students exit the learning process having not only gained invaluable Spanish language skills, but also having cultivated a transferable skill set that is sure to set them apart from their peers going forward in their education and beyond. Skills attained from partaking in Spanish A-Level include research skills, creativity, analytical thinking, communication and time management. All of these are highly coveted by employers and universities. For any Spanish based course at University, Spanish at A-Level is a prerequisite, so enlisting the help of an A-Level Spanish tutor at this stage in education is an invaluable investment, and can make all the difference to students who are struggling with the course. Students who go on to study Spanish at University partake in a wide range of degrees, ranging from Modern Languages to studying Spanish as a joint honors - for example Spanish and History, or Spanish and Italian.

The top UK universities to study Spanish in the UK:

  • Cambridge
  • Oxford
  • Surrey
  • Durham
  • St Andrews

Your A-Level Spanish tutor will not only help you to excel in your academic studies, but they will also be able to offer expert advice regarding the University application process, including helping you with your personal statement and helping you prepare for the transition from school or college to university. Enlist the help of a private A-Level Spanish tutor today and ensure you make the right choices for you.
  • Careers - Being able to speak a second language is hugely impressive to employers across a whole host of industries. It is often said that the UK fails to produce sufficient modern language graduates to fill job vacancies, so the career opportunities for students who graduate with a Spanish-based degree or a joint honors are ample. Students who can communicate in Spanish are particularly attractive to prospective employers because it is spoken so widely across the globe. British and American Businesses all over the world conduct business in countries where Spanish is the native language, so it is an invaluable skill if you are seeking employment abroad, or if you want to work for an international company. Those who study Modern Languages often go on to have well-paid and rewarding careers in fields such as Marketing, PR, Communications and even in the Government.

  • Broadcast journalist
  • Diplomat
  • Education consultant
  • International Relations officer
  • Logistics and distribution manager
  • Marketing executive

With the help of an A-Level Spanish tutor, students can ensure that they have all the necessary skills, knowledge and insight in order to make the right decisions for them when it comes to career choices.

    Tutoring FAQs

    A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.

    A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

    A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

    A

Booking and paying for private tuition has never been easier! As a customer, you’ll need to add your credit or debt card details to your profile after you sign in. You can pay the tutor directly and securely through the Tutor House website. However, if you do pay outside of the Tutor House site, you will not be protected by our 48 hour Cancelation Policy, nor our Disputes or Refunds Policy, we also do not guarantee that you’ll be protected from fraud. You will then receive a confirmation email notifying you of the hours completed with the tutor. The email will also confirm the date and time that the lesson(s) took place. Payment will be automatically processed by Tutor House’s Payment Service Provider (PSP). We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private. Our tutors get paid on the same day of the lesson, so please make sure that you’ve confirmed the lesson before your tutor arrives. Of course! We use Stripe as our third party payment platform. Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

    A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

    A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

    A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

    A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

    A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

    A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

Hinckley

You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.
