I'm an extremely passionate and experienced tutor. I am a polyglot, having learnt over 15 languages to various levels (of which I am at least conversational in 10) and I have an MA in French and Italian from the University of Cambridge. My considerable language learning experience is very helpful in enthusing and helping my students. As well as languages, I love foreign cultures and so often use foreign music, films or reading in my lessons. I am also an avid reader and sports enthusiast - I play tennis, badminton and football and sometimes squash and table-tennis. I'm a big Manchester United fan and one of my most embarrassing moments came when Manchester United were winning the title with 3 minutes to go in May 2012 and I got so excited that I changed my Facebook status celebrating our title victory in front of my friends, only for Man City to score 2 goals in 3 minutes to pip us to the title and leave me feeling very humiliated! I have over 4 years’ experience as a tutor. I have taught English as a Foreign Language, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Latin to various levels as well as English (Language/Literature) and Maths to 13+ level and below. My teaching experience has allowed me the opportunity to get to know a range of different people from all ages and backgrounds, as I have taught students from 5 years old to over 60 years old and of all different levels! I often develop great rapports with my students. One of my students, to whom I have been teaching French for over 3 years, achieved an A* in French GCSE under my guidance. I continue to teach her French for A Level and she said that the influence of my teaching was a big factor in her choosing to keep studying the subject. The parents of an 11+ student, to whom I taught English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning and with whom I had a great rapport, left me the following review (they also gave me five out of five stars): “An outstanding tutor who inspires great self-confidence in his pupil, who works with great calm and efficiency, utterly convincing, a true model for a young student.” I hope to achieve similar results with you! As a polyglot, I am extremely passionate about language learning, one of my favourite hobbies. My considerable experience as a learner means I know common pitfalls and difficulties for students, as well as how to explain these and break them down in simple terms. My teaching style therefore revolves around enthusing my student by transmitting my passion for languages to them. I believe that, if a student sees the advantages of learning languages, whether this is communicating with foreign people or getting to know literature in a different language, they will start to learn proactively and so improve faster. However, I do also have high standards. There are some language learning techniques that are more efficient than others and, given my experience, I’d like to think I’m well placed to know them!

I am a 3rd year medical student at Imperial College London, based in the W6 area. I believe that a complete understanding of the fundamentals is what makes exams easier and that is the key to improving. My lessons are structured around gaining a full appreciation of each concept. For 5 years, I have tutored children in preparation for 11+ exams. They all achieved places at competitive independent schools. I have taught KS3, GCSE and A level/IB sciences and maths for 4 years now. I have experience with the new specifications and understand the greater level of detail and application that is now required in candidates. As an aspiring medic I have striven to develop many interpersonal skills. Two particularly important ones are patience and empathy which allows me to identify a pupil's weakness and then work with them at the speed that will ensure they make as much progress as possible. I believe building a rapport with the student is also of great importance as it allows them to become more engaged in lessons.

I have just finished my second year studying English Literature at Cambridge University, where I have achieved a First in both years so far. I have a huge amount of passion for my subject, which I would love to pass onto others as I tutor them. I also understand the difficulties that studying English literature can pose, however, from structuring essays on set texts to style of writing in unseen work or creative writing, and I am able to help develop these skills and overcome these difficulties. As well as receiving a D1 in English Pre-U, I studied Spanish and Latin Pre-U at Westminster School, receiving a D1 in Spanish and a D2 in Latin. I strongly believe that languages are the most enriching subjects you can study, both intellectually as they challenge you to think more closely about the language and grammar that we use every day (Latin in particular encourages you to think about the roots of our language and the complexities of grammar, something I find particularly interesting), but also practically, as being able to speak Spanish opens up a whole world of people, experiences and opportunities which would otherwise have been impossibilities. With my help, students could conquer these languages and uncover the enriching and exciting possibilities that they offer. I also studied Maths to A-Level, where I received an A*. As someone who studied Maths as a complement to other humanities subjects, I like to think that I have a somewhat unique angle from which I can approach Maths teaching, which may be of help to those who are struggling at Maths and would like an extra helping hand. My main experience has been volunteering-based, as I was a volunteer for 2 years at a special-needs school, where I helped out in the classroom with a range of age-groups, teaching subjects from Science to English. I also have two younger siblings, whom I have helped with their schoolwork for a number of years, in particular informally tutoring my brother in Latin and English.

Therefore, it is imperative that students achieve the best grades possible at this formative stage in their education. The GCSE Drama syllabus asks students to demonstrate an extensive skill set, by both devising dramatic pieces, contributing as either a performer or a designer, and engaging with a range of dramatic materials from an analytical viewpoint. Students will also need to reflect on their own skills by critiquing their various performances.

An online Drama tutor is the best way to ensure success for students studying Drama at GCSE. Online tuition is both flexible and affordable, meaning students can fit sessions into their schedule at a time that is convenient for them. Moreover, through eliminating the hassle and added cost of travel, students who have a limited budget can also reap the benefits of an online Drama tutor.
Online A-level or Pre-U Drama Tutors - The step up from GCSE to A-Level Drama is significant and students will be expected to demonstrate a wider scope of understanding and appreciation for Drama and its significance as an art form. Students will also have to exhibit progression in terms of their practical and performance abilities. An online Drama tutor is guaranteed to help students achieve success at this pivotal stage in their academic career. With A-Level results so vital in terms of dictating a student’s future, it is imperative that they achieve the best grade possible, and our online Drama tutors are committed to ensuring they do so.

A-Levels can be a busy time. It can be challenging for students to balance their social life, extracurricular activities and studies which can reflect negatively in their grades. However, regardless of how busy a student’s schedule may be, online Drama tutoring can be arranged for a time and a place that suits them. Students can obtain expert tuition from the comfort of their own home, from a cafe or library, or even on the move. No matter what your tuition needs may be, an online tutor will be able to cater to them, providing an unrivalled tutoring experience that is sure to help you get those all-important top grades and ensure a successful future.
Online University Drama Tutors - At Degree level, the intensity of the Drama syllabus will increase substantially, and students may find it challenging to adjust to this increased workload whilst also navigating a new learning environment and style. Students at this level could reap a whole host of benefits from enlisting the help of an experienced online Drama tutor. Not only will your tutor construct a personal learning plan designed to address all your individual needs, but they will also go above and beyond to help you develop your personal skill set, ensuring you are fully prepared to tackle the University experience head-on.

Moreover, through eliminating travel costs, online tuition is often more affordable than face-to-face sessions, so is accommodating to a student’s budget as well as their availability. For these students, an online Drama tutor could make a monumental difference, offering guidance, advice and expertise that could considerably increase a student’s chance of admission into the top Drama schools in the country. The flexibility and affordability of online tuition mean it is accessible to students of all ages and levels regardless of their schedule or budget. Tutoring FAQs

A

Booking and paying for private tuition has never been easier! As a customer, you’ll need to add your credit or debt card details to your profile after you sign in. You can pay the tutor directly and securely through the Tutor House website. However, if you do pay outside of the Tutor House site, you will not be protected by our 48 hour Cancelation Policy, nor our Disputes or Refunds Policy, we also do not guarantee that you’ll be protected from fraud. You will then receive a confirmation email notifying you of the hours completed with the tutor. The email will also confirm the date and time that the lesson(s) took place. Payment will be automatically processed by Tutor House’s Payment Service Provider (PSP). We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private. Our tutors get paid on the same day of the lesson, so please make sure that you’ve confirmed the lesson before your tutor arrives. Of course! We use Stripe as our third party payment platform. Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private.
