I have been tutoring for nearly six years, during this time i have been able to get experience for a wide range of subjects and ages (from 7 to 19). I enjoy the challenge of being able to work with the child to improve their understanding and enjoyment of the subject. I recently finished a six week stint as a residential tutor in Switzerland working with an iGCSE candidate.
I have done a number of mentoring and tuition assignments within my Business School Studies (I am MBA from London Business School), helping younger people to prepare for the interview and develop their personal story. I have also worked with people who are 18-23 years old, helping them to get ready for the exams, write a thesis or prepare for an interview. Finally, I am helping out several A-levels students currently with their studies. I personally find it quite rewarding working with the students and see them progress. I put specific emphasis not only on the exam results as a formal requirement, but also on making sure that one understands the inner logic of a subject and it's practical application in real life, i.e. why do you need to learn this and how you will benefit from this knowledge. Doing this kind of work gives a sense of fulfilment, as I am passing along the knowledge and experience and helping people be more successful.

I studied geography at the University of Bristol where I graduated with a second class honours (upper division). After university, I joined Ernst and Young and qualified as an accountant. I left the company after four successful years in the profession to pursue a burning desire to teach. Since September, I have started teaching Geography at an independent secondary school in Croydon. I teach a variety of age groups from KS3 to A-level. If I am not in the classroom, you will find me on the sports pitch. I have a huge passion for all sports, particularly rugby, hockey and cricket. My approach to education is similar to that which I experienced as a student. I encourage a holistic approach, recognising the importance of a balanced education. I will not lecture, but seek to encourage and facilitate an independent culture and development in the classroom as well as practice varied learning techniques, set challenges, encourage interaction and demand a high standard of work. Students should have high aspirations; not all do. The challenge is to find the right teaching techniques to motivate the students and give them the aspiration to succeed.
Hi there, my name is Samuel! I graduated from the University of Surrey with a first class degree in Mathematics & Statistics. My passion for maths definitely started as kid when I got moved to the highest set in my primary school, boosting my confidence in the subject. I later went on to getting an A grade in GCSE and then an A* in A levels. I tried to get an A* at GCSE twice but I did not manage to achieve it but with an A* in college it really shows you that hard work pays off! I also have a strong passion for the French language. I always thought it was great language to learn as well as it being very useful in today's economy. I wanted to learn French because my favourite arsenal player (Thierry Henry) was French and France was the first country I went to on holiday. I have been studying French since primary school to college level, where I spent a week with a French family which really honed my French skills. After college I went to Surrey university to study mathematics and statistics (because I thought statistics would be more applicable but I actually prefer the pure side of maths). It was a difficult journey. The first year of my studies being fairly mandatory and my final year being one of the hardest academic years of my life. I got there in the end and I am happy it did not kill passion for maths but actually made it grow stronger. In my second year of studies I was assigned a mentee for Mathematics. I would weekly assess him on what he had learnt that week with the homework that I set him. Also, I would meet up 3 times a week to help him with his unassessed coursework and any problems he had during lectures. Over the year I saw him progress greatly as he was coming to me with less questions regarding lectures which was pleasing to see. That is enough about me, I am ready to sculpt the new generation of mathematicians and I would love to help you on your journey to becoming even a better Mathematician than I am!
I have been teaching GCSE Mathematics for 10 years as well as AS/Alevel Economics and Accounting and Business studies for so many years on private and voluntary settings. I have taught so many students with differing abilities and preferences. My extensive experience in teaching at private settings as well as a big class means that I am able to change my teaching style to suit individual needs. For instance I am able to prepare students at short notice towards their examination by looking at the topics that the individual student find it difficult to understand and then design a services that encompasses that as well helping to answer questions using the model required by the chief examiner. My experience with SENCO students dates back to both classroom and one to one teaching of students in their homes. In relation to Students from 15 years and above especially for GCSE O Level/ A Level/AS Level ,I have been tutoring one to one in residential settings with students who have autism and who are dyslexic and therefore require extra time to make impact . This entails carrying out with initial diagnostic assessment in order not only to determine the level of prior knowledge of the subject but most significantly for me to ascertain time management as some of them require frequent breaks, frequent medication and how I would be able to factor all this requirements in the learning in order to achieve set goals. At the University level, I have always supported students ( main graduate and post graduate) who have additional needs and therefore require support in reading, scribing and operating their PC in the examination environment especially working with BPP University as Chief examination Invigilator. At the primary level, I have worked with several schools both on one to one and groups sessions with pupils who have behavioural problems, autism and attention deficit disorder. This specifically requires me to follow instructions from the class teacher because most of their problems relate to their inability to pay attention, follow routine set up by class teachers and to be able to complete homework in relations to reading and numeracy. Being a director of a charity, I am able to present my teaching style with experience from day to day activities and challenges of managing a firm helps me to blend my experience of theory which makes it easier for many students to understand Economics, Finance, Accounting and Business Studies from both practical and theoretical point of view. I am also able to teach at a pace required by the parents/ students including students with additional needs like autism, behavioural difficulties and those with issues relating to personal ego and self confidence. As a mentor, motivational speaker and a Reverend Minister, I have counselled different people with different beliefs and nationalities and my teaching methods ensures that learners are able to study in a secured and inclusive environment that recognises every individual as being different but that encourages every individual with the belief that everyone has a potential and when nurtured well, it will help that individual to reach their full potential and reach their goal in life.

I have been teaching from around age 12 and I have over 35 years of teaching experiences at all levels. I like to explain technically difficult concepts and principles and so I enjoy teaching Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science at GCSE up to University post graduate level. I prefer to teach younger pupils while having contact with their parent as I am able to leverage the parental involvement. I help my pupils to take a responsible approach to their academic success and I emphasize outcomes and goals by helping my pupils to develop study and examination strategies that have long term application and impact to their educational development. I have up to date knowledge in all my subject areas and I am very familiar with the specifications of all the National Awarding Bodies, including their examination schemes and their shortcomings. My teaching approach is very cost effective and I supply my pupils with additional resources once I see that they are committed to a long term programme of success in their education. The past 10 years of my experience has been focused on personal tutoring and I have been getting lots of GCSE and A Level Mathematics and Physics pupils who are generally very satisfied with my approach. I also get a large number of final year University students doing first degree studies or MSc studies in Computer Science. I help these students to understand fundamental and important concepts in Computer Programming and to actually use them to code projects that work using Java, C++, PHP, VB and C++.NET. I take and encourage a pragmatic and realistic approach as I am also involved in commercial software development and a business but I do spend most of my time teaching. I also invent things, most of which are based on my teaching experience or influenced by it. For example: The "Logic Geometry System" was inspired by a conversation with one of my young Physics and Mathematics pupil in Radlet, Hertfordshire. I interact with my pupils a lot in order to develop a good communication rapport.
My communication skills have developed as I have dealt with differing levels of learning. I manage my time around the student’s requirements and organise study plans to ensure that the student fully grasps key concepts in Economics, Accounting and Mathematics. I started personal tuition whilst I was a student at University and have enjoyed being a part time tutor throughout my career as an Accountant. I derive great satisfaction from tutoring and it has helped me to grow as a more confident, mature and responsible individual.

I have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills that help me to get to know the students better and help me provide mentoring and encouragement to students.
