I studied geography at the University of Bristol where I graduated with a second class honours (upper division). After university, I joined Ernst and Young and qualified as an accountant. I left the company after four successful years in the profession to pursue a burning desire to teach. Since September, I have started teaching Geography at an independent secondary school in Croydon. I teach a variety of age groups from KS3 to A-level. If I am not in the classroom, you will find me on the sports pitch. I have a huge passion for all sports, particularly rugby, hockey and cricket. My approach to education is similar to that which I experienced as a student. I encourage a holistic approach, recognising the importance of a balanced education. I will not lecture, but seek to encourage and facilitate an independent culture and development in the classroom as well as practice varied learning techniques, set challenges, encourage interaction and demand a high standard of work. Students should have high aspirations; not all do. The challenge is to find the right teaching techniques to motivate the students and give them the aspiration to succeed.
I have been teaching GCSE Mathematics for 10 years as well as AS/Alevel Economics and Accounting and Business studies for so many years on private and voluntary settings. I have taught so many students with differing abilities and preferences. My extensive experience in teaching at private settings as well as a big class means that I am able to change my teaching style to suit individual needs. Hi there, my name is Samuel! I graduated from the University of Surrey with a first class degree in Mathematics & Statistics. My passion for maths definitely started as kid when I got moved to the highest set in my primary school, boosting my confidence in the subject. I later went on to getting an A grade in GCSE and then an A* in A levels. I tried to get an A* at GCSE twice but I did not manage to achieve it but with an A* in college it really shows you that hard work pays off! I also have a strong passion for the French language. I always thought it was great language to learn as well as it being very useful in today's economy. I wanted to learn French because my favourite arsenal player (Thierry Henry) was French and France was the first country I went to on holiday. I have been studying French since primary school to college level, where I spent a week with a French family which really honed my French skills. After college I went to Surrey university to study mathematics and statistics (because I thought statistics would be more applicable but I actually prefer the pure side of maths). It was a difficult journey. The first year of my studies being fairly mandatory and my final year being one of the hardest academic years of my life. I got there in the end and I am happy it did not kill passion for maths but actually made it grow stronger. In my second year of studies I was assigned a mentee for Mathematics. I would weekly assess him on what he had learnt that week with the homework that I set him. Also, I would meet up 3 times a week to help him with his unassessed coursework and any problems he had during lectures. Over the year I saw him progress greatly as he was coming to me with less questions regarding lectures which was pleasing to see. That is enough about me, I am ready to sculpt the new generation of mathematicians and I would love to help you on your journey to becoming even a better Mathematician than I am!

I have been teaching from around age 12 and I have over 35 years of teaching experiences at all levels.
