I am currently tutoring the children of high profile families here in Qatar. I have enjoyed working with children of all ages and helping them to make progress. I pride myself as being patient, enthusiastic, dedicated and I have a good understanding of the needs and abilities of the students that I have taught both here in Qatar and in the UK. I would describe myself as a warm, fun loving and hardworking individual, organized and professional with a wealth of educational experience that I could apply to the role of Tutor.
I started to work with children in 1997 when I worked for the County Music Service in Cumbria. I gained work at Dallam High School in addition to several other schools and the Dallam suggested that I teach in the classroom. I pursued a PGCE at Edgehill University and successfully qualified in 2010. I then left the UK to join my husband in Qatar.
I worked at Gulf English School for five years in key stage 1,2,3 and 4 as a specialist teacher and was promoted to music co-ordinator with a department of three teachers following a British curriculum. After this post I gained employment at the International School of London on a part time basis, teaching cover work (English, maths) and specialist subjects to an IB curriculum.
I am currently working as a private tutor and I enjoy working with my students and helping them with their homework in maths, English and science. I tutor the son of the CEO of Qatar National bank and the niece of the Emir of Qatar, the Royal family.
In addition to my degree and PGCE I have an extensive musical background which could nurture any child’s interest and ability in music; I also have vast experience of special educational needs understanding (my son is 19 years of age and is Autistic with Aspergers).
I enjoy teaching and I can offer a vibrant, friendly and nurturing personality that would be a perfect fit for young students. I am highly experienced and enjoy the one to one flexibility of this type of role. Children can so easily be lost amidst a system of education; I can offer a personal and empathetic emphasis to the role of tutor, having taught ESL and EAL students for the last eight years here in Qatar.
