I earned my PhD in Classics many years ago, but all the while I have been teaching the subject I have continued to pursue it as a student. I have a great love of the classics. I've previously been the head of the Classics department at Queen's Gate School where I taught all Classical subjects -- Latin, Ancient Greek Ancient History and Classical Civilisation -- at all levels. I also helped students prepare for the Common Entrance examinations in Latin and Ancient Greek. I have tutored students individually over many years, including online in many different subjects including English, History and Philosophy. I walk my dog twice a day and have a keen interest in the sport of horse racing. Whether it's improving your grades or getting the most out of your studies, I'd love to help!
I am a Cambridge graduate, with vast experience as both a classroom teacher and private tutor. After my graduation in 2012, I worked as a Teacher of Classics at a private school in Glasgow. During this time, uptake for my subjects increased dramatically, and pupils consistently gained top grades under my supervision, including a full class of A grades in Latin during my final year in this role. I was also involved with university applications, with a focus on Oxbridge. This included helping to structure and proofread personal statements, assisting with college choices and giving mock interviews in a variety of subjects. In 2015, I took up a position as a traveling homeschool tutor, working with two teenage bilingual brothers. I was their tutor for English, Latin, Classical Civilisation and History, as well as SAT Reading and Writing. This experience of tutoring while travelling the world required a high level of organisation and motivation to keep my students on track despite the distractions of continuous travel. The boys' level of English improved hugely during my three years with them, and culminated in the eldest student being accepted to his U.S. university of choice. I have been tutoring online for six years, and, as an experienced online tutor, I have developed methods specific to online teaching which ensure that my students remain engaged and motivated. I utilise screen-sharing and Powerpoint while working online with my students, to keep lessons lively and enjoyable. As a highly organised and efficient professional, students always get the most out of their lessons, and I have a consistent track record of improving grades across a range of subjects and levels. I engage quickly with students of all ages and provide a fun learning environment where students feel able to make the mistakes which will enable them to grow as learners. I enjoy getting to know my students well, so that I can find out what their learning styles are, and how best to support them on their learning journey. As an intelligent quick thinker, I am easily adaptable to a range of subjects and situations, with a proven track record of getting the best out of my students and meeting high client expectations.

Private Tutor, Rome, Italy Oct 2006-Mar 2012 Classics teacher and private tutor of Italian, Latin, Greek, History, Geography – 2006 – present. I have always been dedicated to the teaching of my core competence subjects (latin and greek) and many others that are part of my humanities curriculum. Such teaching has been done, first of all, in the form of private lessons and was subsequently directed to classes of 6-10 students who needed to fill different gaps of their understanding. As private teacher, my first goal was to help young people in difficulty to overcome the gaps in these subjects, teaching them the specific techniques of translation and how to memorise any kind of topic they studied in class. When I started to teach groups of 6-10 students, I was asked to prepare specific lessons on various topics of Latin and Greek grammar and culture. The study of these subjects was organized moving from practise to theory, which meant we started analyzing the grammatical structure of a latin/greek text and, once they understood it, we translated it. I wrote monthly reports for each student. All of my students passed their exam. As my previous experiences suggest, I have developed many valuable skills over the years while engaging with students from a variety of age groups. I recognize the importance of individualizing a curriculum to address the different needs that come with each new student. I also take pride in designing flexible lesson plans that accommodate the learning abilities and interests of each student. I especially enjoy being creative and utilizing new ideas and approaches towards improving the learning environment. And finally, I strive to incorporate hands on activities and fun learning projects with the goal of inspiring and motivating my students.
