Top 10 Benefits of Homeschooling
There are many reasons why more and more parents in the UK are choosing a homeschool education over mainstream schooling. In this blog, we take you through the top 10 benefits of homeschooling your child and how you can become a homeschooler.
Create your own timetable instead of the rigid 9-hour days followed by schools.
Many families enjoy the freedom which comes from homeschooling their children. It allows them to go to museums and galleries at any time of the week, create their own schedule of learning and also take holidays without being beholden to mainstream school terms.
2. Focused Attention
One on one learning means that parents or tutors can fully engage with a child, ensuring no stone is left unturned.
Some students find it really hard to get the attention they need in a busy classroom. At home they work 1-1 with tutors and their parents, which gives them plenty of time to ask question, explore topics of interest and make sure they completely understand subjects before moving on.
3. Monitor Progress
Undivided attention for homeschoolers means tutors can easily understand their progress, identifying areas that need to be focused on with fun quizzes and tests.
4. Special Requirements are accounted for
The school environment can sometimes be stressful and unaccommodating for students who have disabilities, special educational needs or social anxiety.
Homeschooling gives these children a safe and supportive learning environment.
5. Goodbye School Run
No mad dash in the morning to find a clean uniform, gobble down breakfast and run out the door.
This also means that homeschooling can adapt to each child's different needs in terms of sleep and when they work best. Teenagers naturally start waking up later and needing more sleep as they go through puberty. When they're learning at home they don't have to wake up at 7am in order to not miss the school bus. Instead they can wake up refreshed and ready to start the day.
If you work with Tutor House tutors, we hold many small lessons in our classrooms in Central London. Allowing students to form friendships with students they can relate to, in a calm and friendly environment.
It can also be great for homeschool kids to take part in extra activities where they can interact with other kids their age. For example, younger children might enjoy attending a forest school once a week where they can learn about nature. Or your child might enjoy joining a musical theatre group if they like acting and singing.
There are plenty of ways for homeschoolers to socialise with other children and make sure they don't miss out.
As well as the activities mentioned above, children can take part in activities like mindfulness, yoga and art without the restrictions of a noisy classroom.
The great thing about homeschooling is that it allows your child to explore their hobbies and interests without restriction. Whether they love painting, discovering the bugs that live in the park or thrive when working out maths equations, they are free to explore these passions outside a classroom.
Children who are homeschooled are often mature and independent young people. Tutor House nurtures this - students can gain further independence by travelling to our London office for additional classes or they can be tutored at home in their own space.
9. Time to Enjoy Life
Homeschoolers have the time to explore their city, visit museums and develop their passions whilst others are at school. They often gain work experience with part time jobs, that the strict school schedule normally doesn't allow for.
Homeschooling doesn't have to be expensive. Many parents pick up study guides, books and learning materials second hand, and there are now a wealth of affordable online resources for teaching children of all ages and abilities.
Tutor House has a homeschooling schedule to fit every individual budget. Our educational experts would be delighted to talk you through the cost of homeschooling tuition, so don't hesitate to contact us for some advice when starting out on your homeschooling journey.

Our Homeschooling programs are tailored to each and every individual student’s need. Providing an experience that is totally different from the rigid conventional schooling system, our programmes work on a year-round basis to maximise a student’s potential and help them enjoy learning again.
Many students find themselves unhappy at school. Tutor House understands that there are many reasons a child will prefer homeschooling. Our programmes are tailored to each individual student’s needs and consider their history and requirements.
Step 1 - Get in touch
Tutor House understands that homeschooling can be a big step for families to make. Once we understand your situation, we will connect you with one of our homeschooling experts to explain how our process works and how being home schooled could benefit you. We endeavour to answer questions about home school schedules, exam entries and your next education steps.
Step 2 – Consultation
We invite all prospective homeschooling tutors into our Soho offices for a tailored education consultation. We are also happy to travel to you or speak over Skype. Please bring any information you think would prove useful to our understanding of the student, such as previous exam results and information about specific subjects you might want to focus on.
Step 3 – Get your schedule
Our in-house specialists will then match you with the best tutors for your needs and send you a tailored weekly schedule. The schedule will be designed around the student’s extra-curricular needs; for example, if the student is a keen football player, they will have time in the afternoon to attend matches or training.
Step 4 – Start homeschooling!
We send tutors to you on a weekly basis. Each tutor will work to teach the required curriculum for their subject. All of our tutors will also provide comprehensive monthly feedback reports detailing the student’s progress.
