Hi! I'm Collette and I've been teaching ever since the age of 16, when I began teaching music lessons to local children, during my A levels, as my school music teacher recommended me to them. I think what my pupils and students enjoy most about my lessons is how much they are treated as individuals; I tailor my teaching to suit the personality and strengths of the learner. I believe everyone has different strengths - my job is to find out what these are, and use them to build the learner's confidence and enthusiasm for whatever they are trying to achieve. Parents repeatedly report that their child's general wellbeing and confidence is hugely benefitted by my approach to their lessons. I achieved all grades up to and including Grade 8 Distinction piano then ABRSM Advanced Certificate piano, plus Grade 8 Merit classical guitar (and many Distinctions in previous grades) as a child. After school, I studied in London, graduating from King's College, London with a BMus (Hons) Music Degree (with piano lessons at Royal Academy of Music, London) and then a Primary PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education teaching qualification) from the Institute of Education, London (part of University College London). I've taught in a wide variety of capacities to children and adults, throughout my career, both face-to-face and, over the last few years, online, including: mainstream primary, nursery and pre school teaching; specialist music classroom teaching; peripatetic music lessons; home-based music lessons (piano, classical guitar, theory, beginner singing) and school tutoring; TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teaching to homestay and online students. Please contact me if you would like further information. I am extremely adaptable in my one-to-one/small group teaching, and will always guide students in an encouraging and kind manner. As a mum to an 18 year old, I also know what parents and children need from their tutor. So, whether you are 4 or 94, I will be happy to help you achieve your potential. Looking forward to meeting you soon!

[As I am now in my writing up period, I am only providing tuition for KS3 students at the moment. I will resume teaching KS4, A levels, and degree level after summer 2023] Hi, I am Celene or you can call me Jia Yin. I am a fourth year PhD student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Nottingham. My PhD focuses on the numerical and asymptotic analysis of nonlocal travelling wave equations. I graduated with First-class Honours in Msc in Applied Mathematics the University of Manchester. I am passionate about Mathematics and I have always found great joy in building students’ confidence in the subject through my passion and knowledge. I have been a tutor for over eight years. I have teaching experience with all age groups and abilities, including students who are in primary school years, all the way up to University students, both in person and online. In 2021, I received a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant Award from the University of Nottingham for the demonstrating work I have done in the School of Mathematical Sciences. My classes range from one-to-one up to one-to-fifty ratio. One of the best feelings throughout my years of tutoring was not only helping my students succeed in their exams, but also being able to inspire them to enjoy Maths themselves as they gained confidence in the subject. I am a very engaging and enthusiastic tutor who is devoted to ensuring that you/your child receives the best quality in understanding this subject. I specifically tackle your weaknesses and turn them into your strengths so you can achieve your full potential! So, whether you are a student who needs that final push for an upcoming exam or has always found Maths confusing, I truly believe I am the one to help! I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your best! Here are some examples of my teaching accomplishments: - Helped a Year 6 student pass her SAT for the first time. - Assisted a Year 7 student in moving up her Maths set from third to second in school. - Improved the grade of a year 8 student from 60% to 80% in four months. - Improved the grade of a year 8 student from 70% to 85% in one month. - Improved the class test results of an AS Maths student from 37% (failed) to 65% (B) after 9 lessons. My fees: KS3 and below: £30 /hour KS4 : £40 / hour A-levels or Foundation: £40 / hour University levels: £50 / hour Methodology: Everyone learns best at a different pace so I will tailor our one-to-one tutoring sessions specifically for you. In our first discussion I like to find out about your ability, what areas and skills you would like to work on, and what time frame and goals you have in mind. Or if I you prefer, I can test you on a number of topics to understand which areas you need extra support with. From this I can begin to come up with a comprehensive plan for my first few lessons, where I will explain the topics by covering some examples before letting you to try on a range of questions with increasing difficulty. This would then be followed by tackling an exam question on the topic when you feel more confident. I will also include review sessions in each tutorial, where I will ask a few questions based on previous topics we covered. After all, Maths isn’t about memory, it’s practice, practice, practice! My personal style of teaching is focused on engaging students through discussion and questions throughout the session to help students become more inquisitive and engaged with their studies. My priority is to make you feel comfortable asking anything no matter how simple it might be just to ensure complete understanding of what is being taught or reviewed.

Having graduated with a Bachelors (BEng) degree in Biomedical Engineering, Masters (MRes) degree in Medical Physics, PgDip in Medical Imaging, and also set to start my PhD in September 2022, triple science, maths, and further maths are consistently used within my daily life therefore where my tutoring abilities are strongest. Always having been a natural polymath, the ability to understand a multitude of subjects has been second nature. Ranging from playing the piano from the age of 5, taking up saxophone in high school and achieving grade 5 in both Alto Saxophone and Music Theory, to programming and computing with python, MATLAB, and a range of other software. I have been privately tutoring A-level students in physics for a number of years, and have spent many more years tutoring friends and family, alongside mentoring younger university students.

I graduated with first class honours on BA (Mathematics) degree at University of Cambridge. After graduating, I spent almost two years working as an Analyst at a consulting firm, where most of my work revolved around coding in C#. However, as my true passion lies in Mathematics, I left my job to look for something education related. I am currently working in two tutorial centers, Conbridge and Helios Education, located in Shen Zhen and Hong Kong respectively. I mainly offer tutoring services to high school students looking to apply to G5 universities in the UK. After more than a year of tutoring, I noticed three things that are crucial to being a teacher. Firstly, I change up the materials and speed of teaching based on the students’ ability. A teacher’s job is not just to go through the syllabus with students, but also to set the right pace of teaching in order to get the points across effectively. Secondly, I put a huge emphasis on the flow and clarity when explaining concepts. There are topics that seem like common sense to some, but are not as straight forward for others. It is therefore important to communicate ideas in a clear and concise way that suits everyone. Finally, I constantly check with my students that they understand what has been taught. I do this by giving out exercises regularly, as well as making the classes more interactive. I enjoy playing board games, which I think is useful in developing teenagers’ logical thinking through having fun. I also enjoy developing games in Unity in my free time. Combined with my previous work experience as a C# Analyst, I would be able to introduce my students to the world of computer science, which is becoming an increasingly important area in modern society.

My name is Declan, and I am a 20-year-old student from Northern Ireland. I have just completed my BA Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Christ Church, University of Oxford. I attended Saint Mary's Grammar School, Magherafelt, where I achieved 10 A*s at GCSE and 3 A*s at A-Level (in French, Government and Politics, and Mathematics). I have also achieved Trinity Grade 8 Piano, ABRSM Grade 8 Violin, and Trinity Grade 7 Theory of Music. I have little tutoring experience to date; I have only taught French to some primary school pupils and Mathematics to some secondary school pupils with additional needs. However, I really enjoyed both experiences, and both teachers told me I had a knack for teaching! So I'd love to give it a try properly now. I hope to have a focus on clarity and precision; nothing frustrated me more while at school than not being able to understand a concept due to a teacher's shoddy explanation of it. In my free time, I love running, playing football and playing the piano. I'm also a big Manchester City fan (and a true one too, not just a "glory hunter" as my friends call me) and I have been lucky enough to attend 2 matches live.

I am a graduate from Imperial College London with a degree in Mechanical Engineering MEng and currently undertaking research at Imperial College London in the fields of green hydrogen and thermofluids. In my spare time I play basketball and I also participate in a number of musical societies. Instruments that I play include cello, piano, guitar, and singing. I have been tutoring for six years and find the process of improving a student’s understanding very rewarding. Over this period I have helped approximately fourty students gain entry to higher education, that are currently studying STEM subjects at top universties such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, UCL and many more. The vast majority have obtained As and A*s at A-Level. I also tutor several degree level students, five of which have just been awarded First Class and Upper Second Class honours in their respective subjects. I tutor at all stages from primary to degree level and focus on a wholesome learning experience. I always invite my students to ask questions and attempt problems by themselves, before explaining a solution, and subsequently work through similar problems with them step by step until they have grasped the content. The main emphasis in my lessons is to develop sound conceptual understanding, followed by fluency in answering practise questions, thus targeting excellent performance in exams. Looking forward to meeting you!

I specialise in jazz piano as I am a performer with many years experience. However, I can also teach piano and keyboards in blues, funk, soul, and classical styles. Some of my beginner students just like playing simple classical or popular pieces. I am able to teach performance, improvisation, ear training, practicing techniques, and group playing to students of any instrument. Many students get tired and/or bored in traditional piano lessons. Yet learning to play piano can and should be a joy that also helps the student grow in all respects: as a musician, student, and human being. With my piano lessons in Cheltenham, this is exactly what you will get: the best piano instruction, as well as personal mentoring to gain skills needed to accomplish your musical goals. This can lead to enormous fulfilment and personal joy, which will benefit you in your whole life! I am a patient and thoughtful tutor. As a person I am kind and unassuming. I am a good listener and I treat all my students with respect.
