From this I can begin to come up with a comprehensive plan for my first few lessons, where I will explain the topics by covering some examples before letting you to try on a range of questions with increasing difficulty. Having been awarded a full music and academic scholarship to Harrow School, I understand the benefits that a great education can provide. I believe that this has been the main driving force behind becoming a teacher, so that I could help inspire others to stretch themselves further than they may have previously considered was in their ‘potential’. I have recently taught maths at a state school in Brent for four years and have enjoyed being part of the development and positive change within my school. I became Key Stage 5 Coordinator during my year as a Newly Qualified Teacher and after two years was promoted to Lead Practitioner in charge of gifted and able students. I also created a bespoke pathway for students with an eagerness to succeed in Mathematics, by introducing the AQA Further Mathematics and OCR Additional Mathematics courses. I taught these courses in addition to a full teacher's timetable for three years and have seen several students achieve A^ (A* with distinction in AQA) - an absolutely formidable result. I have also been tutoring an A-level student from Highgate school since February 2017 – helping him complete his A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I have been looking to tutor more this year having first noticed the high levels of progress that were possible at such a focused one-to-one level.
