Hello , I am a teacher with lots of experience since I graduated from my Batchelor of Education ( Wolverhampton University). I have been teaching for 23 years and have a lot of experience with Early years and key stage 1 children. I have a good knowledge of the Early Years and The Primary National Curriculum. I have experience of teaching children with various special needs; especially dyslexia (which I have experience of teaching children to achieve in their own ways to harness their special gifts.) I am fully trained in Read Write inc Phonics training and Letters and Sounds, I have taught both and included other methods if I feel it will benefit the child better. Phonics then allows the children to access the curriculum. I have experience of different ways and methods to teach and feel a lot of children benefit from the multi sensory approach. I enjoy teaching most subjects at primary level and have seen children learn and develop, which means I have done my job well. My approach to teaching is that all children do not learn in the same way and it is my job to help find the best way for your child to learn. Teaching through fun/ play and structured activities helps children reinforce their learning and develop to their best abilities. Please feel free to email me on the tutor house website.

Hello, I am Bethany. I am currently a Teaching Assistant at an Independent Prep School in London and I have tutored for over 4 years both face-to-face and online. I am an enthusiastic and friendly person and will encourage all my students to perform to their best standard while having fun learning. I have the patience and ability needed to connect with my students to find the best way to improve their understanding, as each session will be tailored to each individual student. I have now been tutoring for over 4 years both online and face to face gaining lots of experience. Furthermore, I have been teaching gymnastics to children since I was 15, and have been working at national and international summer schools each summer since 2014, so have a lot of experience in teaching and engaging with children from all backgrounds and at all ages. This vast range of experience has taught me a lot about adapting to different personalities. After taking my A-Levels I went on to do a Geography with Biological Sciences degree at the University of Exeter where I gained a 1st in my dissertation and an Upper 2:1 classification. In my first year of university, I began tutoring part-time both online and face to face. After university, I was lucky enough to be placed on an Erasmus+ fully funded placement for 3 months, where I taught English as a foreign language in Seville, Spain and gained my TEFL qualification, where I carried on tutoring part-time online. I am now enrolled to study a Master's degree in Climate Change: Environment, Science and Policy which will commence in September 2019 on a part-time basis. Having tutored a great number of students over the years, I found that each of them learns and makes sense of their subjects in very different ways, therefore, I tailor my sessions to each student. During the sessions, we will cover what you want to understand, as well as going along with the syllabus if needs be. We will use all four different types of learning and will stick to what is suited to you best, which we will discuss in our first ever session together. The sessions will be fun and enlightening, and I will prepare for the sessions beforehand, and if you would like I am able to produce homework worksheets that test what we have gone through the session. Currently I am based in South London so I am very flexible in terms of scheduling a session whether that may be at the weekend or an evening during the week. When I am not tutoring and teaching part-time, I am working at the theatre as a casual employee in the West End and I enjoy playing tennis, and doing gymnastics and ballet, keeping up to date with global news and events and catching up with family and friends! Lastly, I am extremely flexible, so please just get into contact with me and we can go from there! "Bethany has been amazing! My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed the lessons spent with Bethany and always looks forward to them which I am happy about. My daughter has always felt at ease and the sessions were always very productive. She is very flexible and understanding and she has always been very punctual. She is a lovely girl. She is a great match for my daughter as she is always patient and engaging and I would recommend her to everyone" (Mother of an 11+ student) I very much look forward to hearing from you.

Primary tutors, near you or online

With education starting earlier than ever before, the search for experienced primary tutors is never ending. Although, we recommend your search stop here. All of our primary home tutors have extensive experience working as primary educators either at nursery, reception or primary school.

Our tutors are all familiar with the British primary education system and work tirelessly to ensure your child is learning in an effective and fun way. Our tutors have worked with various students across the board; whether it’s suffering from attention disorders, or simply not understanding the work learned in class, our tutors have various education methods they will work through to bolster the student’s learning.

Tutor House’s early-years educators will work as a companion throughout the student’s education and will often spend several years seeing them through their early year academic development.

All of our tutors are educated to degree level.

Every one of our tutors has an up-to-date DBS check.

Preparing for entrance exams

Private primary tutor 2

Whether you’re preparing for 7+, 8+ or 11+, our educators also work as entrance exam specialists. This includes teaching and understanding various components of the exams (from maths to English, verbal to non-verbal reasoning) and understanding how to maximise marks.Independent schools are becoming more competitive than ever before and places are being coveted both nationally and abroad.

As a result, it’s important to begin preparation for these exams earlier than ever before. We generally recommend preparation for exams, especially the 11+, begin as early as three years prior to the application. The student must fully understand the exam methods as early as possible so they feel comfortable and confident on exam day.

Primary education for dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia and more

Most of the time, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and other learning difficulties are diagnosed in the primary learning years. We provide specialists tutors with SEN experience or who have worked as primary educational psychologists to support students looking to adapt to a new way of learning that benefits them.

Whether this is through working on tried and tested methods or helping them cope with the fast paced learning environment of schools, our primary educators will work to ensure that they develop practices that can see them throughout their academic career.

An investment in knowledge pays the best dividends - Benjamin Franklin

Primary home school education

More parents than ever are considering homeschooling during the primary years. This can be for a number of reasons, from early year school refusing, or feeling as though their child benefits and learns more from one-to-one tuition. If this is the case, then Tutor House will be able to support you through the student.

We begin by offering a homeschooling consultation, whereby both you and your child are invited for a meeting in our central London offices. We then work to provide you with the best early year tutors that teach during a schedule that works around your needs. At the end of every month, we provide you with a feedback report so the student’s progress can be monitored effectively.

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.
