I have a degree in Chemistry, with more than 4 years of experience as a tutor and intern-researcher during the years in the University. Although I´m actually working as an on-line General Chemistry tutor, my other areas of expertise are: Analythical Chemistry, Bio-physiscs and Physical-chemistry. I offer really interactive and dynamic classes. My main tutoring method is guiding the student through the learning process, teaching all the concepts and giving all the examples needed to fully understand the subject/s. I can also offer classes to review/reinforce a specific subject (from zero if needed), for students who are really struggling with the theory of it.

I have a BSc in Chemical Engineering (2.1) with a Masters degree (Distinction) in Natural Gas Engineering from a UK University. I have been fortunate to work as a Process Engineer in one of the largest Oil and gas companies in the world for 10 years. Whilst practicing engineering, I was also a part time private Tutor; teaching and mentoring students in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and some Engineering modules at University Level. I am accustomed with in-depth knowledge of UK school curriculum and necessary skills required to pass UK 11+/12+/13+, GCSE, IGCSE, SATS, and A-Level Examination (AQA, Edexcel, OCR), and I have been preparing students for these exams for the past 20 years. I discovered my natural calling is to impact humanity with the knowledge and passion that I have, as a result I left the Engineering sector a year ago so as to allow me have more time with students. Impacting the lives of students positively gives me fulfilment and joy. I love to share knowledge and empower the younger generation. I am skilled at conveying complex mathematical and scientific concept in a simple and concise manner and I am an advocate of lifelong Learning. I have Tutored/Mentored over 200 students for Medical and Engineering/Technology related courses across various universities in the UK, USA, Canada and Africa in the last 15 years. 96% of my (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics) students get A or A* score in GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels Exams every year. Asides being a Tutor, so many students have been motivated with my wealth of experience and teaching methods. My support has helped many students get scholarships in Top Universities in the UK, Canada and US; and my passion is centred around improving children's confidence in Mathematics and science subjects so that they can have good foundation. I constantly engage my students with effective motivating conversations that help them discover their skills and abilities that can enhance confidence. Some students only require a good Tutor that can motivate them to success. I have a strong passion for success, and that has helped me personally. I always get good result when I am dedicated to my work. I want every student I teach to excel even beyond their expectations.

Hi, my name is Malcolm, and I’m a 4th-year medical student at Imperial College with a particular interest in biomedical engineering. I previously attended St. Georges College Weybridge and obtained 3A*s at A-level in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. I’ve tutored Maths and Biology at both GCSE and A-level, and I enjoy being able to share my love of the subjects with others. I am also dyslexic, which means that I have had to come up with a lot of different ways to understand and retain information during my studies. Which I hope will allow me to adapt my teaching style to whatever suits your needs. Learning subjects at school for an exam can be both daunting and dull, but hopefully, with some help, we can make the subjects more enjoyable and get you attaining the best grades possible.

I am a current undergraduate student at Durham University in my second year of an integrated masters degree in Physics and I achieved A*/A*/A/B in my A level exams in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Music. I have a year and a half tutoring experience from GCSE to pre-university level and have also tutored adult learners looking to become mature students. My lessons are conducted online, and I will spend our first 15 minute meeting getting to know you and how I can best help you achieve your goals. Subsequent lessons will be tailored to the student, focusing on either learning new concepts, revision, practising exam technique or a combination of all three. As the student, you guide which topics we cover but I will offer advice if you are unsure as to what would be beneficial. As a current student myself, my sessions have a relaxed atmosphere and rather than having a 'teacher' I am more like a peer mentor. Having recently sat my own GCSE and A level exams, I am well acquainted with a variety of specifications, including international qualifications, and what life in school is currently like. In my spare time, I am a keen musician, playing the cello with multiple university orchestras and singing in one of the choirs. I also enjoy learning languages including German, French and Russian.

Former Cambridge University college lecturer in natural science. I have a double first, first class masters in neuroscience and doctorate in medicine from Churchill College Cambridge. I have postgraduate qualifications and have taught at a postgraduate level. I have published research in neuroscience while working at Cambridge and Manchester Universities. Nowadays I live in Bolton, with my beautiful 10 year old son who has special needs. My son is my youngest student and every week we work on a different topic and prepare a presentation that he gives to his class at school. My hobbies include 3D printing, mathematics, astrophysics and looking after my rescue dog and cat. I also write music and play the bass guitar. What primarily motivates me to work as a tutor is my love of science. Ever since I was a young child I had a fascination with the subject, as it explains how the world works. I also enjoy helping people and playing a role in getting a student into a good university, which I hope is the first step towards a rewarding professional career for them. My first experience of tutoring came when I was only 17 years old. My 15 year old sister had been estimated C and D grades in her GCSE exams. My mum wanted her to get A grades but the teachers at our school had told my mum this was beyond her academic ability. My mum was the type of lady who never took no for an answer, and undeterred, requested that I tutored her. Although I had never tutored before I rose to this difficult challenge and taught my sister in all her 10 GCSE subjects. The teachers at our school were made to eat their words when my sister walked away with 10 straight A grades. Again at A level my sister was initially not estimated A grades so my mum asked me to leave Cambridge and drive to Bolton every weekend to fix this, so I did. My sister was my first success story. She is now a practicing doctor and is a partner in a GP surgery. At Cambridge I did not just get a double first, I got the first place out of a year of 1000 students (250 medical, 50 vets and 700 natural science) in the majority of disciplines I studied. In recognition of this I was awarded the William Harvey scholarship, a prestigious award that recognises outstanding performance in students who come from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background. I also held the Churchill College scholarship for every year I studied there. In 1997 I studied for a masters degree in neuroscience. Again I came top of the entire year and the research work I did at this stage was published in the Journal of Physiology. As a result I was asked to give my first ever lecture to a large group of university academics at a conference of the Physiological Society. Speaking to a crowd of about 100 professors and doctors and delivering a speech when I was a mere student was a daunting prospect, but I controlled my nerves and the lecture was hailed as one of the best from the conference. Later that year I was approached by St Catharine's College to teach the undergraduate students physiology which is the branch of biology which deals with how tissues and organs work in animals and plants. It was quite irregular for a 20 year old student to be approached to lecture at a college, however the Director of Studies must have seen my potential. Within 2 weeks Magdalene College approached me to also work there. Word soon spread round the university that I was better at teaching than the more qualified professors and within a few months I was working 36 hours a week teaching in 16 of the 31 colleges. I extended my subjects from just physiology and began teaching anatomy, genetics, biochemistry and neuroscience. In fact it was so much fun I neglected my own studies a little bit, so I stopped 4 months before my finals and still managed to pass them with a distinction. I went on to teach at Cambridge until I was 26 and then taught at Manchester while researching the neuroscience of diabetes. Nowadays I prefer to teach at GCSE and A level on a one to one basis, because I deal with students with a more diverse range of backgrounds and academic abilities. This presents me with additional challenges that I never encountered when working at a university level.

I am a qualified teacher. I have a doctoral degree in science from the Manchester University. I have also obtained a Master’s degree, in biomedical science and a Bachelor’s degree (in Genetics ) from the University of Sheffield (UK). I have completed a postgraduate course in education and gained my qualified teacher status from Manchester University. Currently , i am a science teacher in a UK mainstream school. My career has provided me with a rich variety of teaching opportunities. i have been involved in teaching and training of undergraduate students in different science subjects including biology , chemistry and physics at both Sheffield and Manchester Universities. I have lots of experience of teaching Key Stage 3 , GCSE and Alevel pupils in both mainstream and private schools in UK. I have thought Science subjects ( physics , chemistry and biology) to Key Stage 4 and Key stage 5 students , preparing them for GCSE and A levels exams.I always make sure my students have the prior knowledge required to understand a new topic. All of the topics in science subjects are related and just get complicated as the students progress to higher level. So it is essential for students to have a solid prior knowledge for the new topics they are learning. It is also essential to apply pupils knowledge to exam questions all the time to make sure that they know how to use key terminologies and answer those important questions in the exam. The mark schemes is very specific for GCSE and Alevel exams and the students often dont know how to answet the question properly despite having the knowledge .So it is vital that they practise those questions after they gained the knowledge with an experienced teacher to secure a high grade in exams. I practice this with my KS3 students aswell so they get into habit of how to use key terms to answer questions.

Hi there! I’m Sana and I have recently finished my A-levels in English Literature, Chemistry, and Biology and I am a medical student. I have been a tutor at Kumon for 3 years now as well as tutoring online for the past year. With my extensive background working with children and adults alike as a tutor, I am able to successfully plan and prepare lessons fit to the individual themselves which is essential. The biggest thing I have learnt is that all students are different, requiring different methods of teaching. Through accumulating over hundreds of lessons worth of experience, I have honed my skills to deliver the most effective but enjoyable experience for the tutee. I understand the stressful nature of exams, and from my own experiences at GCSE and A-level, have learnt the importance of consistent and efficient exam preparation. In my lessons, I combine subject content with exam-style questions to ensure that you feel most confident coming away from my lessons. I believe that this kind of focused teaching style, which is centred around the exam board requirements, means that you are able to face your exams with confidence. This is a tried and tested approach. Ultimately, I want my lessons to be as helpful as possible for you. Therefore, while I always make the lesson content highly focused and useful, I am also keen to ensure that the lessons feel relaxed and enjoyable, as this kind of atmosphere is the most productive one for learning.

I am currently in my 3rd year of a BSc Biology degree at the University of St Andrews. Alongside modules covering all aspects of Biology, I also take Chemistry and Statistics modules to aid my studies. During A Levels I achieved an A* in Biology (97%) and an A in Chemistry. During my 3 years tutoring I have tutored Biology and Chemistry, mainly for GCSE and A Level students, and covering a range of exam boards including: AQA, CIE, Edexcel, OCR A, OCR B, and WJEC. Over my time, as a tutor, I have completed over 800 hours of lessons and have helped many students improve their grades, achieve places in their dream universities and most importantly, improve their confidence in both themselves and their studies. Being able to help a student with their confidence is what I find to be the most rewarding part of being a tutor. Below are a few reviews from previous parents and students on their experience with me as a tutor (all names have been removed for privacy reasons): "“We are so grateful for all your care and hard work with [student]. I am very grateful for your professionalism and kind manner over our time working together. We would highly recommend you to anyone, you are an excellent tutor.” - Parent “Just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your help and support with [student] Biology A level. She has had huge benefit from your 1-2-1 sessions, and you have had such a positive influence during what has been a very difficult year for so many students. You have been extremely motivational for her and succeeded where we have not!! She always was ready, prepared and looked forward to her lessons with you, and you gave her lots of confidence. I will be delighted to recommend to you anyone looking for a biology or Chemistry tutor.” - Parent “I really enjoyed our lessons so thank you for making Biology easier for me :)” - Student My lessons are completely personalised to the needs of my student. Before each lesson we will decide on a topic for the next lesson. During the lesson, I find the most effective use of time is to spend the first half revising the theory and reviewing any weak points in the topic, and using the remainder of the lesson to do past paper questions. However, if you feel you would benefit from a specific lesson structure or more/less review time, I am completely flexible as I want you to walk away feeling satisfied by the lesson. I look forward to starting lessons together! :)

I am occasionally perplexed by the perception of science classes and teachers. There is a notion that science is dry and unrelatable, when in reality this could not be further from the truth. Ever since I was a young child, I was enamoured by scientific knowledge and would try whenever I could to learn more about it. I use this enthusiasm as a beacon for how I want to engage with my students. When leaving school, I continued to pursue my passion for science at university, undertaking my Masters in Biological Sciences at the University of Szczecin, Poland. I graduated in 2006, before moving to the United Kingdom to undertake positions as a laboratory assistant and a quality controller. The next crucial step in my progression towards science teaching was my time as a Biology Laboratory Technician at Queens College, London. For a ten-year period from 2008 to 2018, I worked directly with teachers and with students to help facilitate lessons and learning development. This role required me to be supportive of the academics in any way, while also helping students with specific and general scientific tasks. The job required that I demonstrate technical and complex laboratory procedures, share academic and practical scientific knowledge and experience with students and colleagues. I completed my PGCE Science Biology at Canterbury Christ Church University in 2019, before starting at Queen’s College as a teacher in September of 2019. In my first year, I received the Trainee Teacher of the Year award for my ‘Save the Bees’ project. The award is given to teachers who foster exceptional innovation and collaborate with other departments to improve engagement levels. Of course it is nice to receive such an award, but for me the true reward is the acknowledgement that my teaching methods are effective and that I am on the right track as a teacher. I launched and delivered the ‘Chemistry Clinic’, which guided students through the academic challenges of the discipline by seeking to establish a trusting and supportive learning environment. In addition, I spearheaded a direct link between technology and science as a STEM ambassador, where I sought to help students understand the ‘real world’ applications of their learning. This was something that always motivated me in my studies, so I felt confident that it would help my students. My time has a teacher has also seen me navigate the coronavirus pandemic, which has no doubt been challenging for even the most experienced teachers. Early on, I could see that the pandemic was not only going to lead to a number of wide-ranging changes in our lives, but that these changes were likely to be significant and enduring – meaning that we would have to learn, develop and adapt to it. Given that I always sought to incorporate as much practical learning into my lessons as possible, I understood that this was likely to be a challenge. Nevertheless, I put in place a range of interactive experiences that the students could do from home. My ‘grow your seed in lockdown’ project allowed us to discuss different gardening and fertilisation techniques while allowing students to have a degree of control over an experiment in their own home, while I utilised padlet.com to allow for interactive learning via the medium of the internet. This collaboration has not only facilitated learning development and allowed students to hit their education outcomes, but it has also served as a strong source of mental well-being during the lockdown. Moving forward, I am pleased that my learning methods have been recognised and have inspired students through a difficult phase – and will hopefully continue to do so in the future.

I have 30+ years of experience in tutoring in parallel to my career as an engineer and a Business consultant. As I am not traveling anymore, I can use these assets to help students in both tutoring and make assignments from a distance beside my consulting works. I am based in Brussels. Most of my students come to me from the word of mouth since my hit rate is quite high: they get quite quickly autonomous needing much less sessions than with a purely academic tutor. My explanations are always based on daily life applications as I have been using most topics in my professional career (I started as an engineer). They get from me a ‘toolbox’ of easy-to-use tips and hands-on methods to solve problems resulting in good marks. For Economics, I also use my broad experience as a business consultant: I still coach and train Engineers into Business & Sales engineers with a few technical companies since 1995.

Hi, my name is Imogen. I’m a Chemistry undergraduate at the University of Oxford. I come from a state comprehensive school background where plenty of the students didn’t want to learn. My future was carved out by the enormous enthusiasm and persistence that a handful of teachers showed me. Their attitude inspired me, so much so that teaching is something I want to pursue as a career. I’ve done a considerable amount of tutoring throughout my life so far. This includes teaching French to primary school children, mentoring Year 7 students, and even training air cadets how to safely use rifles! I’m currently in my third year of university, but I’m a bit older than my cohort as I took two gap years before starting my degree. During this time, I worked in a highly selective sixth form college as a lab technician. My role went a bit beyond cleaning glassware and organising chemicals; I ended up running Chemistry lessons and practicals for the students! My background has always been in science - I just find it fascinating. Hopefully I can pass on my enthusiasm to students, and encourage them to be the best that they can be.
