After spending ten years happily immersed in Mathematics teaching and private tuition back in Surrey, my wife and I chose to emigrate to South-West France back in 2004 to start a whole new life. It has been the most extraordinary adventure, and we are now fully integrated into French life and have become (almost) fluent French speakers. But I have started to miss the algebraic and numeric world - the time is now right to put on my still-fitting teacher's hat, and help students once again to achieve the best grades that they can, in the subject which has always been close to my heart. My most relevant experience as far as Mathematics tutoring and Classroom teaching is concerned is as follows: Sep. 2003 - Feb. 2004 Beaminster Secondary School, Beaminster, Dorset Part-Time Mathematics Teacher. Teaching for GCSE (including coursework) and A-Level. Sep. 2002 - Aug. 2003 Sherborne School for Girls, Sherborne, Dorset Full-Time Mathematics Teacher. Teaching for Key Stage 3 SATs, GCSE (including coursework) and A-Level. Oct. 2000 - Sep. 2002 Holyrood Community School, Chard, Somerset Full-Time Mathematics Teacher. Teaching for Key Stage 3 SATs, GCSE (including coursework) and A-Level. Oct. 1994 - Aug. 2000 Self-Employed (Steve Trinder Tutoring) Full-time home tuition to students of SATs, Common Entrance, GCSE and A-Level Mathematics (Pure, Mechanics and Statistics). Includes assistance with GCSE coursework, A-Level Statistics projects and mature students. Sep. 1998 - Aug. 2000 Parkside Preparatory School, Cobham, Surrey Part-Time Mathematics Teacher. Common Entrance Examinations and Scholarships. Jan. 1997 - Aug. 1998 Denmead Preparatory School, Hampton, Middlesex Head of Mathematics. Full-time Mathematics Teacher. Common Entrance Examinations and Scholarships. Sep. 1994 - Dec. 1996 Burpham Primary School, Burpham, Guildford Mathematics Co-ordinator. Mathematics Teacher to Year 6. Since our emigration to France in 2004, my wife and I have managed our own property management business, “Le Cloup Assistance Location.” We specialise in the marketing and management of rental properties and second homes, with swimming pool maintenance services. I also spent seven years (2007-2014) working for an Estate Agent here in France, as a Commercial Agent. This involved providing internet-based property marketing, selling and valuing properties, and dealing (in French) with French legal acts of sale.

My name is Nayim, I am 23 and live in South London, and I work as both a professional tutor and also a teacher in North London. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 2016 and graduated with a MSc from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Astrophysics and Cosmology in 2018. My professional experience with tutoring began while studying at the University of Cambridge as I partially supported myself through tutoring A-level students in the city and also helping my fellow colleagues in my course. After graduating, I spent a year in Berlin working and volunteering with groups that were in need of people with mathematics and science skills, and it was here that I started to tutor full-time as I fully supported myself through teaching students Mathematics and Physics, mainly at IB, A-level and University level. I also continued full-time tutoring while in Barcelona for a year completing my masters. My students during these two years ranged from ages 12 to 29, while primarily being in 14 to 19 age range. During these two years, I was responsible for: liaising with both prospective students and their parents; coordinating lessons and devising tailored lesson plans for my students based on their abilities and curricula; bridging the gaps between my knowledge of courses in the UK and the courses being taught in Europe; understanding how best to engage and teach my students while also tracking their progress to ensure that they were best prepared for their exams. My hopes for now are to further my teaching abilities and experience while also pursuing my own writing and research interests, so as to become a more full teacher, learner and human.

A-Level Drama Course Breakdown

A-Level Drama is concerned with assessing a student’s empirical and theoretical Drama skills. Students will be expected to engage both in the practical aspect of theatre - whether that be acting, or working as a director or stage manager - and the exploration of Drama from an analytical and critical viewpoint. Students can contribute as either a performer, director or designer, and will have to create, respond to and perform drama and theatre. Whilst the specifications for a drama A-Level vary across exam boards, they all have a similar structure and they all assess students on both their practical and theoretical skills.

Theoretical - The theoretical element of the course tests student’s analytical and critical thinking, as well as assessing their ability to communicate their ideas via essay writing skills. In this section of the course, students will learn about the cultural and social context of drama, engage with material from a critical perspective and learn about the processes of performance.

Students will be required to engage with performance texts from a systematic and interrogative viewpoint, studying their contexts, themes and their position as cultural artefacts. Selected texts will be from a range of genres, but will generally include at least one play by Shakespeare and one play written and performed in the 21st Century. Students will also often go and see live performances and deconstruct them in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the particular piece, and the role of theatre in a wider context. With the help of an A-Level Drama tutor, students can ensure success at this critical stage in their education.
Practical - The practical element of a Drama A-Level tends to make up about 60% of the overall grade, so it is imperative that students are successful in this component of the course. In order to demonstrate their practical abilities, students must work on devising a piece of theatre, which will then be assessed alongside a portfolio documenting the context of their chosen piece. Students must use their portfolio to demonstrate their creative processes, giving evidence of the procedures and decisions made throughout the development process.

Students can select from a range of practical roles and then focus their efforts on honing their skills in that position. Students can either choose to develop as a performer, designer, director, or opt to combine all three. Whatever role they select, Drama A-Level will equip students with a range of important and coveted skills, both practical and theoretical, to expand their horizons.

    Tutoring FAQs

    A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

    A

Booking and paying for private tuition has never been easier! As a customer, you’ll need to add your credit or debt card details to your profile after you sign in. You can pay the tutor directly and securely through the Tutor House website. However, if you do pay outside of the Tutor House site, you will not be protected by our 48 hour Cancelation Policy, nor our Disputes or Refunds Policy, we also do not guarantee that you’ll be protected from fraud. You will then receive a confirmation email notifying you of the hours completed with the tutor. The email will also confirm the date and time that the lesson(s) took place. Payment will be automatically processed by Tutor House’s Payment Service Provider (PSP). We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private. Our tutors get paid on the same day of the lesson, so please make sure that you’ve confirmed the lesson before your tutor arrives. Of course! We use Stripe as our third party payment platform. Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

    A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

    A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

    A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

    A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

    A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

    A

Tutor House endeavours to ensure that both tutors and clients have the best possible experience with our service. We’re always here to help, so do reach out and contact us. If you ever have unresolved disputes with your tutor we will assist you in reaching a mutual agreement. We will do our utmost to try and resolve all disputes; however we may not be in a position to resolve every dispute. Please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

    A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

I am currently undertaking a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics and will be a fully qualified teacher by September. It is because of this and my multitude of school placements that I am well versed in all specifications, topics and expectations in Mathematics across all exam boards.

Benefits of studying Drama at A-Level

Studying Drama at A-Level has a plethora of benefits, and students will exit the learning process with a wide range of subject-specific knowledge and transferable skills that will be applicable to both their life in further education and in their respective career choices. With the help of an A-Level Drama tutor, students can ensure success at this essential stage in their education, and reap the benefits of this qualification for years to follow.
