I personally love to explore things; helping others to learn rather than making them remember. I usually solve any logical problem and explain it clearly. Experience came from the exams, where i used to explain to my friends before the exams. However we do get good results. I only want to make myself challenging and keep myself to a limit where i can enjoy the work and coming up with satisfying output.

My name is Nayim, I am 23 and live in South London, and I work as both a professional tutor and also a teacher in North London. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 2016 and graduated with a MSc from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Astrophysics and Cosmology in 2018. My professional experience with tutoring began while studying at the University of Cambridge as I partially supported myself through tutoring A-level students in the city and also helping my fellow colleagues in my course. After graduating, I spent a year in Berlin working and volunteering with groups that were in need of people with mathematics and science skills, and it was here that I started to tutor full-time as I fully supported myself through teaching students Mathematics and Physics, mainly at IB, A-level and University level. I also continued full-time tutoring while in Barcelona for a year completing my masters. My students during these two years ranged from ages 12 to 29, while primarily being in 14 to 19 age range. During these two years, I was responsible for: liaising with both prospective students and their parents; coordinating lessons and devising tailored lesson plans for my students based on their abilities and curricula; bridging the gaps between my knowledge of courses in the UK and the courses being taught in Europe; understanding how best to engage and teach my students while also tracking their progress to ensure that they were best prepared for their exams. My hopes for now are to further my teaching abilities and experience while also pursuing my own writing and research interests, so as to become a more full teacher, learner and human.

I am currently in the second year of my PhD in pure mathematics at the London School of Geometry and Number Theory (Imperial, UCL, and King's). Before that, I was an undergraduate at the University of Queensland, Australia, where I earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours Class I with an extended major in Mathematics. I also have a Diploma of Languages majoring in German, and spent a year of my undergraduate degree studying in Munich. As an undergraduate, I gained a variety of experience from both private tutoring and teaching in university environments for students ranging from high school to undergraduate level. Before I began university I did a gap year working for a prep school in Surrey, where I primarily helped students between the ages of 8 and 13 who were struggling in class and/ or being disruptive. I also helped prepare students for the 11 and 13+ exams. I believe that mathematics is an under-appreciated discipline, and I have a passion for teaching maths in an intuitive and relatable way that applies real-world examples. I have ample experience in communicating complicated ideas to students of all abilities and in guiding students to their own understanding.

Peter was fantastic! G was so inspired afterwards and highly excited about the next lesson. What had been a very grumpy teenager for weeks was suddenly a lovely curious kid again. Many thanks!

First time my 13 year old had agreed to sit down with a tutor. Peter is calm and clear. He has a good sense of humour and a friendly approach and was able to engage Joe, which is not always easy. Even Joe admitted it went well!

General information about studying Drama at University

Whilst courses will vary in terms of content and structure depending on the University specification, Drama degrees across all Universities will tend to integrate the theoretical and practical study of Drama, testing students on their performance abilities and knowledge of theatre's history and cultural significance. Generally, the first year of a Drama degree course will equip students with the breadth of foundational knowledge that they will need in order to make a well-informed decision when it comes to choosing their optional modules in the next two (or three) years of the course.

In terms of the practical element of University Drama courses, students will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in performance whilst also exhibiting in-depth knowledge of the social and political contexts of any pieces they engage with. Practical options in degree courses can range from interpretative acting to directing or playwriting. The theoretical part of the course is concerned with teaching students about the ways in which theatre can and has been shaped by society, culture and politics, and vice versa. As the courses progress, students will draw on different strands of what they have learnt in order to produce long-form project-based assignments. Students will engage with a wide range of existing theatrical material, from the modernist works of Stanislavski and Ibsen to classics such as Shakespeare. Students will generally be assessed via a range of modes, including performance, presentation, written essays and coursework, and exams.

Students can also choose to study Drama as a joint honours, and many do, with popular courses including Drama and English, Drama and History and Drama and Creative Writing.

    Tutoring FAQs

    A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.

    A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

    A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

    A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

    A

Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued.

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.
