I am currently a student at City, University of London, studying Mathematics with Finance and Economics. Prior to entering university, I have studied in two schools in Bulgaria, which emphasized on teaching mathematics of a high level to their students and always prioritized this subject over the others. In those twelve years of primary and secondary school I have always maintained an excellent academic record. In my twelfth year I took and received an excellent mark on a national exam in mathematics, which tests the knowledge of all 19-years-old students in the country every year and covers everything studied in math classes up to university. The reason for my success in mathematics at school so far has always been the fact that I enjoy the subject. I would truly like to help others enjoy it the way that I do and show them that mathematics can be far easier than it seems. Having studied in Bulgaria in my past, I can offer a different approach at some things, which I think can be of great help to the students. I attended a very competitive high school where I had two exam sessions every year for five years. Those exam sessions usually involved exams on a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 10 subjects. This is why I can say with confidence that, by now, I have become very comfortable with taking exams. I believe that this experience puts me in a position of being able to share valuable skills and knowledge with students who are not that used to attending examinations. Furthermore, I have been taught some methods, especially in mathematics, differently to the way they have been taught here in England. So, I believe a different perspective can sometimes be helpful for students to understand certain concepts before learning how to apply them. I am young and energetic and I am really excited to pursue my recently developed passion for tutoring. I very much enjoyed learning the subject at school and I would love to help others get the same experience as mine. I am looking forward to working with people who are eager to learn. I am patient, and understanding and would love to share my knowledge with others. I am hardworking and passionate for mathematics enough to be able to be helpful and, hopefully, inspiring to the students. I have worked with kids at the ages of 7-10 and, while challenging, it was really fun for me and I think this made it fun and informative for the kids as well. In my experience, the hardest part of working with children was retaining their concentration. This is why I think taking short breaks or talking shortly about something different than the taught subject can sometimes be key for the children to learn. At the end, I managed to help those kids prepare for their end of year exams and they ended up getting good marks. I hope that in the future I will have many more similar experiences and would be able to help many more students achieve excellence.

I am an approachable and diligent graduate from Cambridge University, where I studied my undergraduate in Philosophy and Psychology and my Masters in Psychology. I now work as a Research Psychologist at Cambridge University and University College London. I love teaching, and have experience working with students aged between 8 and 21. I first discovered my teaching talent assisting a close school friend through his A levels. With my help he moved from achieving A B C E in his AS levels to 2A*s and an A at A Level, going on to study with me at Cambridge University. Most recently, I have supervised university students studying my specialist areas within mental health, given lectures and one-to-one lessons on Cambridge summer schools, and provided classroom support to teenage children with special educational needs. I believe teaching is at its best when it is a discussion. I make a real effort to ensure students feel able to ask even the most basic questions so we can quickly identify areas of weakness and address them. By working together to expand the student's knowledge and explore their areas of particular interest, I am able to foster genuine interest in students, and provide them with a strong basis of knowledge from which to excel. I feel confident in my ability to build an excellent relationship with my students, and I can't wait to work with you and your children in the future!

Why work with a Geography Tutor?

Few subjects give students the chance to explore the world and the people who inhabit it so completely as Geography. From the physical processes that govern the natural world to the social, political, and simply human processes that dictate how we act and feel, Geography is an all-encompassing academic adventure - when taught well.

Success in Geography is about a lot more than colouring in maps. To excel in this subject students need both scientific and literary skills. Students are expected to be able to do both practical and theoretical research and analysis, combining the sciences and humanities into a subject that gives them a broad and highly valuable skill set. However, acquiring the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in Geography is challenging, with many students struggling either in one specific area of with multiple aspects of the course.

The assistance of a passionate, experienced and knowledgeable private Geography tutor can make a huge difference to both a student’s enjoyment of the subject and their overall grade. Regardless of a student’s age and level of education, working with a Geography tutor will ensure they gain an in-depth understanding of the many processes going on in the world around them. Private Geography tuition can identify and fill any gaps in a student’s knowledge or understanding, ensuring they come out of their Geography education with top skills, top grades, and a greater understanding of the world.

Who can benefit from a Private Geography tutor?

Geography is forever broadening a student’s horizons. From Primary level to University degree and beyond, Geography is a subject that allows students to discover the wonderful variety of the world around them. Encompassing both the physical and sociological features and processes that affect the Earth and people across its surface, Geography is a subject that is vast and complicated but well worth the effort. Students of Geography emerge with a holistic understanding of the world and how it operates, as well as developing essential analytical, communication and research skills. With so much to learn, it is easy for students of every level to get lost trying to navigate their way through the curriculum. A private Geography tutor can provide direction, support, and motivation, ensuring every student gets the most out of their Geography studies.

Primary Geography tutor - At Primary level, Geography as a subject encourages students to begin to think about the world from a critical perspective, and to reflect upon how individuals from different cultures and backgrounds may live differently to them. Students will look at their local environment in detail and start to compare it to other parts of the UK and the wider world. Students will be encouraged to develop their observational skills and ability to analyse information using new, Geographical vocabulary. Students will learn about the climate and how it changes in different parts of the world, as well as key natural and human environments such as beaches, forests, towns, and fields. There is a lot for students to learn at Primary level with students needing to undertake practical and theoretical activities they can find challenging. Primary Geography tutors can guide their students through every step of their primary education, from memorising the continents and oceans to undertaking practical experiments and comparing their own lives to those of children in other countries. This foundational point in a students Geography education is vital in helping them to develop core skills that are essential for their further studies in multiple subjects. Having a private Geography tutor at this early stage in their academic career can greatly enhance a student’s passion for learning and their enjoyment of the subject, whilst also ensuring academic success moving forward.
IGCSE and GCSE Geography tutor - At IGCSE or GCSE level, students begin to dive deeper into both human and physical Geography processes. Students will need to understand environmental processes, such as the water and carbon cycles, and how they can change the natural landscape. Students will also be expected to study topics such as resource management, global economies and the challenges of living in rural and urban environments. At GCSE level, students are expected to learn practical research skills such as cartography and statistics, developing an appreciation of both qualitative and quantitative data. GCSE represents an intensification of study and pushes students to think in terms of the bigger global picture. Many students find the increased academic rigour of GCSE Geography challenging and can struggle to develop all the necessary skills. A private GCSE Geography tutor is able to identify exactly where and why a student is struggling, creating a personalised tuition plan to make sure they excel in every aspect of their Geography course. Achieving top grades in a Geography GCSE opens up multiple opportunities in further education, while the support of a Geography tutor will also provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the world around them. Our GCSE Geography tutors are familiar with the syllabus of all the major exam boards, including AQA, CCEA and Edexcel, providing students with unrivalled insight into how to achieve a top GCSE result.
Pre-U, IB or A-Level Geography tutor - The A-Level Geography course builds upon the knowledge students developed at Geography GCSE, requiring students to take a deeper and more analytical look at environmental and human processes in the world around them. Students will also be introduced to new theories and topics as well as being expected to draw links between different physical and human processes and how they link together. Students are also required to undertake independent field research projects and demonstrate their ability to collect, interpret and analyse data to come to conclusions. At A-Level there is a huge amount of content for students to learn that, combined with the pressure of needing to achieve top A-Level grades, can lead to students feeling lost and overwhelmed. A-Level Geography tutors are able to provide a roadmap through the course, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel. Our A-Level Geography tutors are experienced teaching the curriculum for all the major exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR, providing students with expert insight into what is required to get top grades. A-Level Geography tutors can help with every element of the course, from explaining how various Geographical processes work and link together to providing handy case studies, developing practical research skills to focussed exam revision, all ensuring a student comes out with a top A-Level grade.
Geography degree tutor - All Geography degree courses represent a huge step-up in terms of the quantity and quality of work required for a student to succeed. Not only will students be required to develop in-depth knowledge of specific topics and demonstrate high-level analytical skills, but they will also need to show they can link studies, theories and events to wider physical and sociological processes. A student’s knowledge and analytical skills must grow dramatically to get a top Geography degree. To do so at a point where students are adjusting to University life and a very different studying process can leave students struggling to perform and keep up with their course. Working with a Tutor House Geography degree tutor can prove fundamental to a students success. Our specialised Geography degree tutors, many of whom are lecturers or professors, can help students to adjust to University level study. Tutors can help students to develop top study tips, break down complex concepts into easily digestible explanations, teach critical research and analysis skills, and provide valuable feedback on their work. With the help of a Geography degree tutor, you can really get the most out of this fascinating course and your entire University experience.

Tutoring FAQs

A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

A

Once you have found tutors which fit your criteria you can send an enquiry to them straight away. You’ll need to register with Tutor House before you can contact tutors (this is to order to ensure that you are protected by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy). To send an enquiry to your selected tutor(s) add them to your enquiry list and confirm by pressing the button at the bottom of the page. If you are a new user you will then be asked to register. If you are a returning user you will be prompted to sign into your account. Once signed in you will need to fill out your enquiry details and teaching requirements before sending your message to your selected tutors. After the enquiry has been sent we will contact you within 48 hours. If your tutor of choice has not replied within this time we will either contact them on your behalf or put you in touch with another of our highly experienced tutors.

A

Yes, we do take a fee, but at a fraction of the rate which other companies charge. We don’t have a sign up fee for new customers, we don’t charge an introduction fee, and we don’t charge administration fees. However, we do charge a small commission which pays for the security of tutors (we meet all tutors, check their DBS certificates and ensure they are who they say there are), and the maintenance of the site. If you have any problems using the site, you can always email or call us.

A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

A

Booking and paying for private tuition has never been easier! As a customer, you’ll need to add your credit or debt card details to your profile after you sign in. We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private. Our tutors get paid on the same day of the lesson, so please make sure that you’ve confirmed the lesson before your tutor arrives. Of course! We use Stripe as our third party payment platform. Stripe are PCI compliant, so you’re protected from fraud, and can we issued refunds without any cost to you. (But only if you pay through the website, please see our terms).

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

A

Finding a tutor with Tutor House is fast, simple, and secure. Our online tutoring platform helps you find, message and book tutors within a few clicks. Simply enter your required subject with the level and your location, and our website will return a list of recommended tutors. You can then filter these tutors according to experience, price, and recommendation. Each tutor has a detailed profile with a personal statement and details about their qualifications and teaching experience.

A

We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. You pay the tutor online using a debit or credit card, with your booking being secure and private.
