I am a supportive and enthusiastic tutor with a good grasp of a range of subject material, and a strong ability to comprehend a specification in its entirety, developed through my diverse academic career. I can work flexibly with different course requirements. My aim is to help students understand the principles at work, beyond superficial rote learning, so that they might grow in their achievement and enjoyment of the subject. I have 1 year's non-professional experience supporting a year 11 pupil towards their Maths GCSE (attained A Grade). I have run sessions on preparation for the Physics Aptitude Test (Oxford entry, candidate succeeded in the test), and I have been tutoring professionally in Maths (GCSE, iGCSE, A-Level and 13+), Physics (GCSE) and Chemistry (13+) since March 2019.

I am an experienced professional tutor with a First class Bachelor's degree in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Bristol. I am going on to study a Masters in History and Philosophy of Science either at Cambridge or the LSE (I haven't yet decided!) This interdisciplinarity commits me to well-informed, creative and self-generated ways of thought which I encourage in all my pupils. I have been a professional tutor for 6 years and besides tutoring my primary subjects of Natural Sciences, Maths and Philosophy I have given guidance with academic confidence, writing skills and exam technique. I am very comfortable with all syllabuses and am aware of the examiners expectations and motivations for the new style exams. Every one of my students has excelled and received A*/A grades at GCSE and A-level. I have a conversational style, part lesson and part problem solving. I pay lots of attention to how pupils engage with and work with specific problems. This allows me to simultaneously understand gaps in knowledge as well as technical and analytical reasoning. I am expert in helping students with formulating their thoughts and pushing themselves to be creative in how they handle the knowledge they take from school. By helping pupils explore how they learn they become comfortably able to present their knowledge with clarity- essential in both real life and exam settings. Most recently I was employed to deliver science lesson plans to a group of year 7 and 8 students of mixed ability from minority backgrounds. I instructed groups of 15 students and learnt a huge amount of techniques to garner respect and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning. I made an effort to incorporate interesting subject matter that connected obscure scientific topics to the world around them and gave them a taste of the activities and concepts encountered at graduate level studies. I left this job because I moved from Bristol to London. As part of my degree, I mentored a group of five fifteen year old children from Pakistan. Over the course of 6 weeks we developed comfortable bonds and were able to discuss Schrodingers cat as well as special relativity, accessed through a brief history of our conception of space. I was awarded the highest mark in the group for my efforts. The powerful dynamics of small groups brought to light the dangers of large class sizes where students are easily made to feel like unworthy contributors. "Samar was an excellent tutor to my sister, Andrea, through her A-levels. Andrea had chosen Physics and Maths out of a passion for the subjects but was held back by inadequate teaching in her GCSE’s. This meant that she was in need of a supervisor that could identify where the gaps in her knowledge were so that she could receive training for the tools she needed. Samar was instrumental in building knowledge and confidence so that Andrea could expertly grasp the topics and achieve A* grades. As soon as he started tutoring, Andrea related to us that Samar had helped her understand her weaknesses and shown her how to improve." -- Jemal, parent.

Who could benefit from online Art Tuition?

Online Art tuition is an excellent way for students of every age and level to reach their artistic goals. From A-level students desperate to earn a top grade to adult learners looking to refine a specific artistic skill, working with an online Art tutor is the perfect way for all students to reach their full artistic potential.

Online Primary Art Tutor - Art is a critical subject for Primary school students who are at a vital stage in their practical and personal skill development. Through practising basic skills such as drawing, painting, collaging and clay modelling, students develop key motor skills that are vital in both their education and wider life. Equally, Art gives students a fantastic opportunity to learn how to work both independently and as part of a team, communicate and express their ideas and feelings, as well as cultivating confidence in their creativity and abilities. Despite its critical nature, Art can easily be neglected in mainstream education, with teachers forced to focus on the core subjects such as Maths and English. Equally, many students find Art an intimidating subject to study, struggling with some of the practical skills or losing confidence in their ability. Working with an online Art tutor is the ideal way to ensure students receive the Art education they deserve at this foundational point of their education. Online Art tutors can devise fun, engaging lessons that cultivate a student’s practical abilities and dramatically boost their confidence. Setting them up for success as they progress through the educational system and beyond.
Online GCSE or IGCSE Art Tutor - At IGCSE or GCSE level, students are expected not just to produce top quality art pieces, but also demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the artistic process. Students must demonstrate excellent research and analysis skills in addition to creativity, idea progression and excellent practical artistic skill. At GCSE students must produce two final projects, one as a prolonged piece of coursework and one in an extended exam format. A huge amount of work is required for GCSE Art success and many students find the sudden increase in intensity to be overwhelming. Working with an online Art tutor means that students have the support they need on-tap. Online Art tutors are able to guide students through every step of the course, from research and idea development to practising their artistic skills in different mediums and producing a top-grade final piece. The online platform means tutors can easily share internet resources as well as provide visual and audio support whenever and from wherever a student needs it.
Online Pre-U or A-level Art Tutor - Pre-U and A-level courses follow a similar course structure to GCSE Art but with double the number of projects and a dramatic increase in the quantity and quality of work required for success. The heightened difficulty of A-level Art courses coupled with the crucial nature of A-level results in terms of a students future can make it a stressful and challenging time. Working with an online Art tutor is a fantastic way for students to get the support they need to succeed and enjoy their A-level Art experience. The online platform makes it easy and affordable for A-level students to access the tuition they need from wherever suits them best. Whether it be the school art studio, their bedroom, a cafe or the library, Online Art tuition is available any time from anywhere with internet and a laptop or computer.
Online University Art Tutor - At University, students have a range of Art courses to choose from. Whether a student is studying Fine Art, Art History, Graphic Design or Photography, Degree level study represents a dramatic increase in academic rigour. Studying Art at University also represents a considerable shift in how students are expected to learn, with notably less hands-on support and a focus on independent study. Many students find keeping the demands of a University Art course couples with adjusting to University life difficult, and can find their grades slipping as a result. The support of an online Art tutor can revolutionise a students University experience, easing the transition into University study and ensuring that they succeed at this critical point in their academic journey. Online Art tuition boasts an unrivalled level of flexibility, with students able to access tuition whenever and wherever they need it and at a cost that is student friendly. Ensure degree success with an online Art tutor today.
Online Art Tutor for Adult Learners - People choose to study Art as an adult for all kinds of reasons. For some, specific aspects of art such as Photography or Graphic Design give them the option of promotion or career change. For others, it’s more about honing the skills of a lifelong passion or hoping to get your work to a point where it can be exhibited. Whatever the goal and level of the student, online Art tutors are able to cater the sessions to their student's specific needs. Online Art tuition is both budget-friendly and the ultimate flexible tuition option. With lessons possible anywhere that the student has a computer or laptop and an internet connection, it’s easy to book online Art tuition around even the busiest of schedules. Tutoring FAQs

A

After selecting your tutor for your desired material, you can book a lesson right away! Send an inquiry to your selected Tutor and once a tutor accepts your inquiry, it will be registered as an ‘open enquiry’ within your messages tab. This is where you will be able to communicate with our tutors, discuss your requirements, arrange lesson times, and book and pay for lessons. When you submit your booking request, the credit card details provided will be subject to an authorisation hold (to the total amount agreed with the tutor for the cost of the initial session and for any other lessons which will take place thereafter). Not only that, but you can also rate and review your tutor once you’ve had your lesson! Tutor House values your feedback.

A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks.

We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.
