I am a qualified medical student from King's College London. I have completed my medical degree and in addition successfully completed a Medical Humanities degree within a year at the University of Bristol. As a highly motivated medical student I enjoy a very successful academic career resulting from my use of well honed study skills. Medicine requires me to demonstrate particular strengths in maths and the sciences, however I have also used my excellent communication skills to present new medical concepts to my colleagues. I have regularly led, set up and organised practical study groups to improve peer skills in objective clinical examinations. I have also taught across a broad range of ability levels: spending two years as an instructor at a swimming club for people with disabilities meant I needed to be positive and encouraging, using my initiative to create fun games and exercises, as well as sympathetic in acknowledging their limitations. As a tutor I am able to share my pragmatic approach to successful study. This includes: the importance of my commitment to a structured learning framework, ensuring study time is a prioritised but integrated part of life, also allowing for the pursuit of other valuable interests; access to relevant learning material targeted to personal requirements. My strong people skills, combined with a passion for learning and motivational, sympathetic approach mean I am to help tutor others to engage more successfully with their studies. For those interested in pursuing medicine as a career, I can also offer coaching in attaining acceptance into University to study it as a degree. This includes (but is not limited to) advice on relevant work experience and personal statements, to applications and interview technique. From my experience, I can also offer insight into what it is like to study medicine, and can answer any questions one may have on the course and potential career options.

I have been a private tutor for the past 7 years. I have tutored Mathematics to Key Stage 2, 11+, Key Stage 3, GCSE and IGCSE, A-level and IB students. When I was a student, I spent much of my spare time to study Maths well beyond the curriculum and as a result, I won various Maths competitions during these years . The knowledge and the experience in problem solving I gathered back then (and developed even further ever since) allows me now to teach students much more effectively regarding ways to approach and solve even the hardest problems which they might encounter at an exam easily. I am willing to go the extra mile in order to help my students to succeed, by improving their knowledge, exam techniques and confidence: consequently, the vast majority of my students achieved their target grades (including all of my students in the previous academic year of 2017/2018, where all of the targets were high (Grade 8/9’s at GCSE level and A/A* at A level)), often improving multiple grades in the process (e.g. 5 to 8, 6 to 9 at GCSE level or D to A* at A level).

Who could benefit from online Geography Tuition?

Geography is taught from the early stages of a child's education all the way through to degree level and beyond. Equally, students can find elements of Geography challenging, or look to enhance their Geographical skills, at every stage in the educational process. As such, online Geography tuition can benefit students throughout their academic career.

Online Primary Geography Tuition - At Primary level, Geography is a subject designed to broaden students horizons. At this early stage in a child's education, Geography encourages students to think about the world around them. Students will begin to learn about different people and environments, both within the UK and on a global scale. Primary Geography also introduces students to basic Geographical skills, such as map reading, and a range of vocabulary.

While a fascinating and fun subject for Primary level students, Geography can also seem intimidating. Many students struggle with one or multiple aspects of the Geography curriculum which can knock their confidence and have future academic repercussions. Working with an online Geography tutor can recapture a student’s love of Geographical study. Thanks to the plethora of online teaching resources and techniques, expert tutors and the novelty of working online, Primary students find online Geography tuition fun, engaging and a real confidence boost. Working with an online Geography tutor sets students up for success far into their academic future.
Online GCSE or IGCSE Geography tuition - At GCSE or IGCSE level, students find their Geographical knowledge is really put through its paces. At GCSE or equivalent, students will undertake in-depth study of both Human and physical Geography processes, from carbon and water cycles to human migration and the role of international organisations. Students will also need to develop sophisticated qualitative and quantitative research skills ranging from cartography to data analysis. GCSE Geography courses are fascinating and offer the chance of a hugely advantages set of skills and qualification. However, many students find the course to be extremely taxing. Working with an online Geography tutor is the perfect way for students to ensure they are able to get the most out of their Geography course, both in terms of final grades and enjoyment. Our Geography tutors are familiar with the syllabus of all the main GCSE Geography exam boards, enabling them to support students every step of the way. The online platform allows students to access tuition any time and from virtually anywhere. With just a laptop or computer and internet connection, students can receive the support they need to excel at this critical point in their education.
Online A-level or Pre-U Geography Tuition - While loosely based on the GCSE curriculum, A-level and equivalent courses take a much more in-depth look at the systems, processes and issues facing the world today. Both Human and Physical Geography topics are studied in depth, as is the interconnection between these two areas. A-level Geography marks a dramatic increase in terms of academic rigour. Students must demonstrate sophisticated Geographic and research skills in addition to excellent analytical thinking and both a broad and detailed Geographical knowledge. May students find the increased demands of A-level Geography to be overtly challenging. The complexity of the course combined with the pressure of A-level results can leave students feeling stressed and unmotivated. Online Geography tuition provides students with all the support they need to traverse the challenges of their course. With the help of an online tutor, students can get to grips with the various course requirements, receive a top A-level grade, and rediscover their passion for this incredible subject.
Online University Geography Tuition - University education, in general, represents a dramatic shift in terms of the quality and quantity of work a student must produce. Students are also required to quickly adapt to an entirely different approach to teaching whilst simultaneously adjusting to life away from home. Geography degree courses, in particular, are academically very challenging with students introduced to a number of complex theories, ideas and skills that can be difficult to grasp - but are essential to their success. Online Geography tutors are able to ease students through the transition to University education. With online Geography tuition, students can access additional support whenever and from wherever they want it. Lessons can be booked around their busy schedules and at whatever frequency they require. Many of our University Geography tutors are also professors or lecturers, offering an unrivalled level of expertise on complex Geography topics. From explaining research skills and complicated theories, to teaching effective learning techniques, an online tutor is able to help students get the most of their degree and go on to future success.

A

If a tutor is late for a lesson then it is the duty of the tutor to arrange to make up the lost time by finding a time that suits you both, either on the same day or another mutually convenient time. Usually the tutor will make up the time during the lesson. For example if the tutor was 30 minutes late they would stay an extra 30 minutes at the end of the lesson. If this is not possible you can then either ask the tutor to make up the time at the next lesson, or contact us and we will arrange a partial refund for you. If the tutor fails to do this then please contact us via disputes@tutorhouse.co.uk and we will respond to your dispute within 48 hours, if not sooner.

A

Yes, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Our policy protects both tutor and customer. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges as long as it’s cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to take place. However, if you cancel your lesson within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount. If there is an unforeseen circumstance, then both the tutor and Tutor House will discuss this with you. In some situations lessons can be rescheduled (free of charge), but this is at the tutor’s discretion.

A

We do not charge you a joining fee or an administration fee, instead we allow you to interact with your chosen tutor directly. A

Yes. All tutors must have a valid DBS certificate before their profile goes live on the Tutor House site. We do in-house DBS checks, which means we get DBS done very quickly. If a tutor’s DBS certificate is not validated or has expired then their profile will taken down until a new DBS certificate is issued. Although this is completely over to the tutor to notify us when it has expired. Once we’ve checked the tutors DBS, we are not responsible for keeping it up to date. A DBS (Disclosed Baring Service) is a way of checking tutors. Tutor House performs a background check, and a police checks. We make sure that all tutors are suitable to work with children and adults, before their profiles go live. The DBS replaced the CRB.

A

Once you have made the lesson request, you can communicate with the tutor. You can discuss your tuition requirements and the lesson timing with in-app instant messaging. The messaging is instant, so your tutor will receive the notification via both; the website and email. Hence he or she can respond to immediately. You may wish to discuss your preferred lesson time and date, or discuss which exam board you’re studying for A-levels and GCSE’s, or even to discuss specific text and books which you are currently studying. Also, You can communicate with the tutor with the instant in-app messaging at any point (before or after the booking has been made). Please note that it is possible for you and the tutor to mutually agree to booking changes after this stage. This must be done within the messenger app on the website. You can also use the same means of comunication to find out more about the tutor, after you have requested a booking. In addition to this you can always check the tutors reviews and ranking.

A

By default, when searching for a tutor you will be shown the nearest tutors to your location. Travelling longer distances may incur additional travel costs; however the tutor will inform you if this is the case, and any travel costs can be mutually agreed before the lesson is booked. Most tutors would expect to travel up to 45 minutes to get you, at no extra cost. If there are additional charges the tutor will make you aware of that. You can always ask the tutor for online lessons if there is the possibility of travel costs being added to the costs of your lessons. Most of our Tutors infact use Skype and can carry out lessons online with no additional cost. Sometimes online courses is the perfect answer.

A

If you are running late for a booking then please do let the tutor know via the in-app messenger as soon as possible because the tutor may still have to finish the lesson at the scheduled time, depending on his/her availability. However, tutors will usually try to make up time lost at the end of the session for the intended duration, although it’s important to note that this is at the tutor’s discretion. Tutors will usually wait for 30 minutes, but again this is at the tutor’s discretion – tutors may well have to leave at the original time for another lesson. If you are late for the lesson, tutors will charge for the full amount that has been agreed and confirmed. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel the lesson with 48 hours you will be charged the full amount.
