As a tutor, I believe in working on a personalised course of study working through use of past exam papers and interview questions, teaching students to answer the questions well and grow in confidence. My past students have gained entry to the Royal Grammar School Guildford, Eton College, St James School Ashford, Halliford School, Shepperton, St Catherine’s School, Bramley and St George’s College, Weybridge. I am now a specialist one to one tutor working with students in preparation for Independent School Entrance examinations at 7+, 11+,13+ along with the 11+ Examinations for Grammar Schools. For the 7+, I have prepared students for both the Mathematics and English examinations. At 11 + I have prepared children for the Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning tests. My name is Samuel and I graduated from Cambridge University in 2007 with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. In addition to this, I hold a Professional Tutoring Certificate (Distinction awarded) and I am a fully qualified teacher too. I have a passion for teaching/tutoring Mathematics and Sciences (mostly Physics, Chemistry and Biology) to GCSE and A-level students. I have mentored and tutored students from an assorted array of backgrounds since 2002, helping some to get to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities and helping them with interview preparations when requested. My teaching journey started in 2002 when I took a year out working as an assistant/support teacher actively involved in mentoring, lesson planning and marking. I take pride in having been commended for my teaching style where I always ensure to explain everything in the simplest of manners and take an approach that most suits the student to bring out their best effort. After graduating from Cambridge, I went on to seek professional employment as a graduate engineer but never left my passion for teaching. I therefore volunteered as a STEM ambassador where I shared my passion for Science and Mathematics to students from various backgrounds. I continue to take utmost joy and pleasure in tutoring and helping students attain their full potential; and in this regard, I can assure any prospective students that they’ll be getting the most out of their time and money whilst paving way for a bright future.

Hello, My name is Max and I’ve been a teacher for the last 7 years. I specialise in exam entry, writing workshops and improving performance for the 11+, GCSE and A Levels for Language and Literature. I have a warm and compassionate approach, dedicated to each student’s development and academic access. I am proud to say I’ve helped students gain entry to St Paul’s, St Olave’s, Westminister, Dartmouth Grammar, Blackheath High, Henrietta Barnett, South Hampstead High and many others across London; sometimes helping them to win scholarships. I’ve helped GCSE and A Level students improve their grades from levels 6 to 8 and 9, working within the curriculum, homeschool students and students with learning difficulties. I am also an award winning writer (stage and screen) and know, as well as the joy of writing, the importance of academic discipline and articulacy, especially when in preparing for exams and applications. I studied scriptwriting at Central Saint Martins (BA) and playwriting (MA) at Goldsmiths University. That said, I do love to try and help each student find some pleasure in what they’re doing, with a patient and empathetic approach. I also run play and screenwriting workshops for kids and young adults and have worked the Yard Theatre, the Southwark Playhouse, The Gate Theatre, Flux Theatre, Theatre Workout, Actor’s Centre, Eaton House the Manor, Sydenham High, Alexandra Juniors and many other schools and institutions across the country. I have a real belief in the power of learning and the impact it can make on young people’s lives. I do hope I can help with your child’s studies. Scriptwriter Bio I've been a recipient of the Paris Royal Script Award, Screen to Screen Award, the Peggy Ramsay Foundation, a finalist for the Papatango Prize, Samuel French's Off Off-Broadway Award, Theatre Uncut's Prize for Political Writing and recently, the Nick Darke Award. I've also collaborated with the Wooster Group in NYC, The English Theatre Berlin and the British Museum as a dramaturg. I've had plays produced at Theatre 503, King’s Head Theatre, the Arcola, Paines Plough and many others across London. Testimonials I have two daughters, Grace and Alice, and Max, over two years was instrumental in getting them both into the top sets of English and gaining entry to Henrietta Barnett school. I would definitely recommend. Ann Marie, mother of Alice and Grace. Max helped my son, Chindera, get into Eltham College with high marks for his 11+. Pero, mother of Chindera. My daughter, Ann-Maria, has severe autism and struggled with her comprehension and creative writing. Max worked patiently with her and had an excellent relationship, helping her to really blossom. Natalie Campo, mother of Ann-Maria. He is also very professional and communicates progress regularly. Ayodeji Ojo, mother of Faith. Gayatri, although very bright, found her GCSE exams torturous. Max helped her to learn exam techniques which really helped to break everything down. Mina. My son George worked with Max in a homeschool capacity and, although English was far from his favourite subject, Max was the best tutor he ever worked with, improving from a level 4 to a 7 over a year. Sharron Delaney Zayed and Mohammed were helped by Max to improve their Engish language for GCSE. He helped imrpove their scores hugely. Clementine, nanny. Keira moved here from Australia and hated the academic system of her school so was tutored privately. Max helped her find pleasure again in reading while successfully helping her through her academic year as a homeschooled student. Keira’s mum. Max was an excellent employee – hard working, focused, responsive and a pleasure to work with. He had brilliant rapport with the students, and was able to deliver, clear, concise instructions, and work with students of all abilities to guide them through the project. I would definitely recommend him. David Workman, head of Youth Coordination, Southwark Playhouse Max has been working as a tutor and workshop leader for us for a year now and he is one of our most popular tutors. Hello, thanks for stopping by. I am an English tutor with 21 years’ experience teaching in primary, secondary and further education. I provide personal tutoring for children and young people who need support with English and would like to improve their confidence in their abilities. Tutoring Approach I have a calm, patient and encouraging approach. Listening and reflecting are very important for developing a strong rapport so I am always keen to get to know what my students are interested in, what motivates them and what is meaningful to them. My tutoring sessions are designed to be engaging, stimulating and enjoyable, placing emphasis on learning and progress. Being approachable and non-judgmental opens the lines of communication and creates a platform for my students to confidently ask questions and share with me how they feel they are progressing. Using a range of methods, I tailor my lessons to meet individual learning requirements. For example, breaking down a task into smaller, achievable steps makes it more easily understood and mentally manageable. I will set regular tasks and activities to ensure full understanding of what we are learning. I will identify strengths and areas to improve and create learning strategies and goals that are right for my student's individual needs. I am usually able to identify these needs within the first session. I also liaise with teachers and schools to identify areas to work on and monitor progress. I have a ‘can do’ attitude and communicate positive expectations by showing my students that I believe they have the ability to do well and achieve through my unwavering encouragement and enthusiasm. I take great pride in championing my students. Positive reinforcement helps to acknowledge their skills and strengths and enhances understanding and enjoyment in learning. My students' success is my number one priority. My aim is to provide the right support so that they can progress to the very best of their ability. Providing support for children and young people with: I provide support for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), high-functioning autism (Asperger syndrome), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), delayed learning development (DLD), global developmental delay (GLD), sensory processing disorder (SPD), dyslexia, focus and concentration difficulties, and other special educational needs. I also support learners with managing anxiety. Individual Tutoring and Small Group Teaching • Early years foundation stage - reception (EYFS) - English and numeracy • KS2 • KS3 • KS4 • Further education (FE) • Adult education • English as a Second Language (ESL) Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) I teach English, maths and practical life skills to students aged 16 to 26 with mild to moderate special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Key Stage 4: GCSE English tutoring I offer tailored personal tutoring to prepare students for their English literature and language GCSEs. I am familiar with the different exam boards’ syllabises, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR. I provide tuition for: • exam preparation, revision and study skills • revising with past papers • GCSE retakes • building confidence with exams Functional Skills English I offer Functional Skills English tutoring up to level 2, including the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment. My students have achieved success rates that were consistently above the national average pass rates and I was commended by OFSTED on the high quality of my teaching, assessments and resources. English as a Second Language (ESL) I help non-native speakers of all ages and levels learn the formal grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation of spoken and written English, while giving them confidence in the common usage of the language in order to communicate clearly and comfortably with native English speakers. Speaking, Listening and Communication As an experienced Speaking, Listening and Communication tutor I have achieved fantastic success with some of the most nervous and anxious individuals who have been convinced that they will never be able to publicly speak. It is greatly rewarding for me to watch my students’ confidence grow and flourish in this way as we work together.

I am currently studying towards my PhD degree in Mathematics at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and at the same time, since 2017 I am employed by QMUL as a Teaching Associate for various Schools within the college. Being employed as a Teaching Associate for the Schools of Mathematical, Biological and Engineering Sciences at QMUL equipped me with a certain level of initiative and commitment when it comes to resolving complex situations that may arise within the classroom. The modules I have taught range from “Probability & Statistics” to “Data Analytics with Excel”, always within the field of Mathematics and Physics. I am experienced in submitting accurate reports and working efficiently within a team, due to my PhD course. Apart from my academic teaching experience, since 2018 I have been employed as a Private-Tutor for Kaleido Tutors London as well as BE Education, where I had the opportunity to teach students of various ages on Mathematics and Physics for GSCEs, A-Levels and Cambridge Pre-U. Moreover, I familiarized myself with online tutoring, by providing lessons over Skype for students who were not able to physically attend the session. This taught me how to continuously engage with students and enhanced my ability to correctly evaluate situations where students lack the understanding of important notions related to the subject taught. During 2018-2019, I was employed as an Application Consultant at the Careers & Enterprise Center for the Careers Group UCL & QMUL where I learned how to quickly build rapport and provide targeted advice to students, with respect to their Oxbridge & Greater London Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes applications. I specialized in applications concerning degrees in Natural Sciences (Mathematics, Physics) but I also got valuable experience in Engineering and Biology subjects. Moreover, I prepared the students for their upcoming interviews for their placement by providing mock-interviews and various methods to answer difficult questions. These one-to-one appointments taught me how to handle personal data with discretion.

My name is Lara and I am a tutor from Maidenhead, England. Qualifications: B.A Art History B.A French Literature and Language Masters degree (MRes) in Assyriology Current PhD Candidate at Oxford University French and English: I would love to teach you if you would like to learn English or French language aspects such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and spelling. I know I can help you with your speaking fluency and accuracy. I have been teaching languages for two years at a variety of levels. Most of my students improve their language skills and can express themselves and their ideas concisely and effectively. I do this by motivating my students with new teaching approaches that focus on communicative activities. I want my student to feel they have the confidence to speak the language in the real world. I also work with GCSE and A-Level students on exam response and literature analysis. I specialise in helping students identify and understand language devices. Geography: Similarly to higher-level English and French, we look at exam questions and examiners reports to highlight the skills and knowledge needed to attain the top grades. I use exam papers to identify areas of weakness so we can then work on specific skills or topics. We can then revise topics and make revision materials. Specialist areas include coasts and earth hazards, but I have experience teaching all modules. I also offer tuition in Art History and Physical Education. I will provide my students with positive and constructive feedback, and an achievable goal timeline. If you want to study with me, you can contact me and schedule your lesson. Hope to hear from you soon.

I have previously been a Mathematics Teacher at Northwood School teaching KS3, GCSE and A-level Mathematics. I have recently completed an MSc Mathematics qualification at King's College London. I also already hold a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Mathematics from King`s College London. During my undergraduate degree I was President of 'Team Up', a voluntary tuition program, supporting low income background secondary students in Maths, English and Science within the central London area. Endorsements: (Meira, A-level Mathematics) "We turned to Sunny in desperation in the middle of study leave to help my daughter through her A-2 maths exams, and particularly M1 (after she spent the year struggling and refusing a tutor). Sunny has been amazing! After one session on M1 the look on her face was a joy… it was apparent that she now saw clearly something that had been opaque to that point. He has since gone out of his way to make himself available to help not only with M1 but also the C3 and C4 exams. My daughter is now relatively relaxed and reasonably confident of making at least her UCAS insurance offer. I can't recommend Sunny more highly." Valid DBS check.

Hello, I'm Marie from Oxford, UK. I'm a professional teacher, University Lecturer and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Trainer. My specialist subjects include Business, Marketing, English Language, Media Studies and Sociology. I'm also a qualified English teacher, and have recently been tutoring students to prepare them for their 11+, 13+, and IELTS exams, as well as delivering a complete primary homeschooling programme. In my career so far, I've been lucky enough to work with some fantastic education institutions including Universities and Colleges in Oxford and China. I've delivered professional development training to teachers and professional staff from many different countries, and my work has also seen me travel to places such as Russia and Kurdistan. I am passionate about helping my students and clients achieve their goals through education, and I'm equally as happy delivering bespoke training sessions to large groups of staff, teaching a University course, or getting a call from an individual student telling me they've achieved the grade they needed that we worked on in their private study sessions. Before I retrained as a teacher, I worked as a Marketing Manager and Project Manager for a University in Oxford, and these skills and responsibilities have helped to shape my adaptable teaching style and capabilities. I would love to hear from you and find out about your training and education needs, and let's achieve your goals, together.

How do I prepare my child for the Common Entrance?

The 11+ Common Entrance exam can be daunting for children and their families, as it's one of the first times they'll undergo a real timed assessment. It's better to over-prepare than under-prepare when it comes to the 11+ exams. Make sure your child is confident on all the content and has practiced in exam conditions so they're able to manage their time properly on the day. Whilst being prepared is important, you don't want your child stressing over the exam, so it's important to take frequent breaks and make revision fun with rewards and snacks. Your 11 plus tutor will guide you on all necessary techniques.

What is the 11 plus Common Entrance?

The 11 plus Common Entrance assessments are the exams required to get into specific secondary schools. Children will take these entrance exams in Year 6 to determine their place at senior independent schools. The 11 plus Common Entrance exams will assess children on verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, English and mathematics. The 11 plus tests are designed to assess children's academic potential. They will often be the first proper exams your child has sat so enlisting the help of an 11 plus tutor is a good idea.

Why Tutor House tutors?

Our tutors have years of experience helping students prepare for the Common Entrance exams and have a track record of success in helping students get into top secondary schools. Preparing for the 11 plus can be tough, but our tutors are here to support you every step of the way.

Are you thinking about getting a 11+ or 13+ Common Entrance tutor?

Common Entrance preparation is very important, it's key to take at least a year preparing for the entrance tests. Tutor House can help with every step of the 11+ and 13+ tests. With a Common Entrance tutor, your child can get access to Common Entrance past papers and gain confidence in their own revision and exam technique.

Common Entrance exams and the preparation for those exams can be a minefield. Parents should check the open days for the schools that they wish to apply to and endeavour to visit the schools and listen to the Headteachers talk. This will enable them to get a good overview and a feel for the school and help them decide if this place would suit their child's’ personality and academic ability. (We offer a personalised service for parents who would like the expert advice of one of our experienced tutors). Most schools have a selection procedure that can be very competitive.

Getting the right support for your child for their 11 plus or 13 plus Common Entrance exam is vital to make sure your child gets accepted into the top secondary school of their choice. Whether your child needs to boost their grades significantly or needs that extra bit of support coming up to the big day, Tutor House can provide you with top-quality 11 plus and 13 plus tutors to get your child the results they both want and need. Our tutors are well used to preparing children for the next step in their education making sure their students are confident in all topics covered in both the 11 plus and 13 plus Common Entrance exams. These exams set your children up for the rest of their education, therefore, at this stage, it’s so important to consider whether your child would benefit from the support and teaching from an experienced 11 plus or 13 plus tutor.

At Tutor House, we provide both online and in-person one-on-one tutoring sessions and pride ourselves on the high quality and experience of our 11 plus and 13 plus tutors. We ensure that every tutor we provide has been DBS checked and can provide your, or your child, with the support they deserve when investing in their education. With our unique online learning facilities getting common entrance exam support has never been easier. Our tutors provided one-on-one tailored teaching to their students and will be matched with your child with our unique algorithm to ensure our tutor is the perfect match for your child's needs.
