My aim for every student is to engage, encourage and support. Build confidence, knowledge and know how to achieve the highest grades possible. I held the post of Art and Design Lecturer and Course Tutor at Hackney Community College (now New City College) from May 1997 to Aug 2015. I also taught Textile Design on BTEC Art & Design, Foundation in Art and Design, GCSE and A Level Art and Design and Textiles. My specialism is Textile Design (print and constructed) with knowledge of a variety of print techniques. I also have vast experience in Art and Design applications at A level and GCSE Art, fashion and photography. This includes; Visual Recording in Art and Design, Ideas and Concepts, Visual Communication, Fashion Presentations Techniques, Exploring Textiles and 3D Sculptural textiles. In my teaching practise I introduce and cover all aspects of contextual study, historic and contemporary to inspire the design process along with practical skills to help extend knowledge and develop design awareness from initial recording of research, experimental drawing for art and design and fashion and textiles. This includes experimental drawing and mark making, fabric manipulation, artists research, composition, mood boards, encouraging the use of varying medium to inspire and develop personal style. I encourage students to experiment in their sketchbook to create a narrative that will support final outcomes for assessed work. I have substantial experience of project and curriculum development and delivery in KS4 and 5. I am currently an examiner, moderator and an assignment writer of teacher support packages for a major education qualification institute. In my own practice as a designer I run a small textiles printing business producing designer textiles collections for homeware.

Are you hoping to apply to top UK Art and Design undergraduate courses within the next year? Contact me to get a head start preparing your portfolio, and get motivated by working on a project outside of school. I also offer help with Art and Design study from GCSE level and up, and literacy skills for primary school age children. However big or small your goal, I would love to support you in achieving it. I studied Fine Art to degree level at Central Saint Martins College, and I am currently studying MA Photography at the Royal College of Art. Portfolio preparation for art and design university entrance is my speciality. In the last year my clients have gained places on top art courses at Central Saint Martins, Goldsmiths, Brighton, Nottingham Trent and Kingston. I am committed to education and the arts, and since graduating from the University of the Arts London in 2014 Prior to becoming a tutor I was employed as Archives and Special Collections Assistant at University of the Arts London, supporting teaching, learning and research for students of a wide range of academic abilities and needs. This role included giving workshops to students on a one-to-one basis, and in larger groups. I was also a guest tutor for the MA Culture, Criticism and Curation course at Central Saint Martins. Before my role at the university was made full time I was able to volunteer with the charity Beanstalk as a Reading 321 Helper, supporting three children twice weekly to improve their literacy. These were children in Primary School who had been identified as being behind with their reading skills. I have also been involved with The Girls Network Mentoring Scheme. If your child is struggling with literacy, and needs to find enjoyment in reading, contact me. Coming from a creative, academic background I appreciate that everyone has their own style of learning. I like to engage children with their own creativity in order to assist them with problem solving and finding their unique way to reach their academic goals.

I have been working with young people for over 4 years now and have gained a well rounded portfolio of experience. I have been grateful to receive wonderful feedback from students, parents and colleagues! I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol with a BSc in psychology & philosophy. I worked at a TEFL Language school where I designed a cultural programme for students and was the chief point of contact as a mentor. Additionally, I worked in the SEN department at a London secondary school supporting students with all Key Stages including A Level & IB. I have worked with students who have aspergers, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, sight-impairment and physical disability’s. A few examples of previous tutoring jobs: - Mentored a teenager over an 8 month period. - Tutored full time for the past 3 years as a subject generalist with an emphasis on the arts and humanities subjects. I have taught the core KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 syllabuses. Covering all subjects such as art, philosophy, psychology, history, english literature & language, maths, chemistry, biology, physics. I have also done A level and IB tuition for subjects such as history, philosophy, english, art and psychology. - I have worked full time as a home school tutor teaching the core subjects, arts & humanities for ages 5, 7, 9, 11 & 14. - I homeschooled two brothers from a high profile family and prepared them for the English curriculum (from the American system). I taught english literature & language , R.E, art, politics and current affairs, textiles and took them on educational excursions. They also had to pass school entrance exams 11+, 13+, both successfully. - I homeschooled two sisters ages 7 & 9 and taught all the core subjects as well the arts and humanities. I prepared the youngest for her 7 + exams which she successfully passed. My students have gone on to excel in many subjects but especially creative writing and critical thinking. One student of mine was refusing to write at his previous school but after a year of working together he gained entrance to a top London school and is now currently the top of his class for English and is particularly confident with his creative writing. Another student of mine has gone on to win poetry competitions. My teaching style is engaging, innovative and supportive. I try to instill confidence and academic curiosity in my students, as I believe this is equally important to achieving top marks. * Fun fact about me: I paint professionally and pursue writing when I’m not tutoring. I am now keen to take on more students and would love the opportunity to work with you! Once we have been in touch and established something my response time will be very rapid. However because I am very busy it might initially take a little longer to respond so I'm sorry for that! Should be worth the wait though.

Hi I'm Emily and I've tutored English language and literature for just over 3 years now, as well as Religious Studies and Philosophy. These subjects have always been a passion of mine and I love teaching others, helping them to understand and appreciate different texts, books, and theories. I also help with personal statements and love to help students through the university application process as I know how daunting it can be. Sometimes all it takes is another pair of eyes to have a look! I gained A levels in English language, Textiles, and Philosophy and Ethics before studying at the University of Leeds and graduated in 2020 with a 2.1 BA and industrial year in fashion design (bit of a change I know!). When the pandemic hit I had to rethink things and found myself wanting to help people instead, which inevitably turned into tutoring, as well as working as a community carer with children and adults with SEN. I am experienced in a range of needs and can accommodate accordingly. Tutoring English, RE and Philosophy for the past 3 years has been a dream come true. I've worked with so many lovely students and really felt like I've changed their outlook on the subjects. I love seeing their confidence soar and their faces light up when something suddenly clicks. I like to keep my lessons fun and engaging and make you feel like this is not just extra work because it can be fun trust me! No matter your struggles, I'd love to see where I can help.

I studied at London Metropolitan university with a BA in Graphic Design. I have a 2.1 for my degree. I had some good reviews on that service and now I am hoping to find a Tutoring job as that's my passion and inspiration. Also, I enjoy working with students, especially when I combine my creative skills digitally. I can teach students Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In Design and Adobe Illustrator. I also work part time as a Graphic Designer which is my other side of my career. I have worked for different places such as I have worked for 3 Graphic Design companies such as the Yiewsley Cornerstone Centre, TES Youth and the London Basketball Association. My passion comes from Liberty Designers and Contemporary designers such as Mark Wigan, Millie Morrotta and the eldest creative person William Morris. The art work which I usually produce is Life Drawing designs, Pattern work, Textiles and digital methods where the drawings can be converted into digital designs such as flyers, business cards, logos, banners, brochures and letterheads. I also draw objects, people, nature designs and patterns. I also visit galleries every week, I visit the V&A and the Tate Modern to get further experience.

On leaving The London College of Fashion with a BA in Design I joined a studio as a designer of casual womenswear for many popular high street names. My interest in Art and historical costume led me to join the production and later the running wardrobe of The English National Opera. It is with the birth of my first child that I went into teaching, at first teaching clothesmaking, beading and textile crafts to adults. Part time study culminated with my qualifying to teach post 16 students in Further Education. I have since taught design, manufacture and textiles at several London based FE colleges. After Post Graduate study of Art History I also taught History of Art. I have an extensive knowledge and experience of teaching Art and Design at the equivalent of GCSE and A level at BTEC levels 2 and 3. For the last three years I have worked as Assessor and Moderator of A' Level Art and Design and BTEC Level 3 qualifications. I believe strongly in creating the best possible environment for the student to experiment and develop their skills. 'Play' is very important to me, giving oneself the opportunity to experiment and develop, going off at tangents and exploring the elements without parameters. I encourage and challenge my students to work and explore the potential of a wide range of materials, techniques and processes using and combining a variety of mixed media. I continue to develop my skills through practise of my skills and visits and awareness of developments in my fields.

I am a practising resident artist at a local art studio community in South London interested in encouraging a more sensitive understanding of daily life through art.  I graduated with a BA in Fine Art (1st) at Chelsea College of Arts (2011-2014) including an Erasmus exchange at Iceland Academy of the Arts (2013) and achieved a Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design (Distinction) at Camberwell College of Arts (2010-2011).  Since completing my studies, I conducted an independent DIY artist residency (July-September 2014) in Copenhagen, Denmark culminating in a stay with a collaborative pop-up exhibition.  In 2015, I was commissioned to create illustrations and video graphics for on-stage video projection design for theatre in the UK and from 2016-2017 I returned to Denmark on several occasions to collaborate with local artists and exhibit further in non-gallery spaces.  Most recently, I have also exhibited in Finland and have focused on projects in the UK that encourage growth of local opportunities between creatives and the local community by leading the curation of an open studios exhibition at my studio.  In addition, I have worked on projects that promote awareness of local heritage such as being commissioned for faux painting to conserve a listed building in London and exhibiting at Coventry Cathedral to help commemorate events of World War Two. Alongside my experience as an independent freelance artist, I have also assisted at leading galleries, cultural archives and more commercial settings such as art fairs which would help students interested in furthering their art studies get a better understanding of the opportunities available to help craft their own path.  I have a year's experience of private art tutoring through arranging art activities for local friends and family which gave me an insight into the therapeutic qualities of my art practice and my ability to inspire confidence in individuals through teaching with my intuitive and playful approach to developing ideas by experimenting with a variety of media.  Aimed at students studying GCSE/A-level/AS level Art and Design and Design & Technology. I would tailor the sessions to each student's needs starting with an open discussion to gauge their interest in the subject and what they wish to get out of the sessions such as creative skills they want to develop that will equip them with the tools they need to direct their own investigations for their coursework.  Learning from examples of existing art work and design from my own experience, I will encourage students to explore how artists and designers respond to the world around them.  I want to help nurture the students' observational and reflective skills to develop their individual form of expression. I work across a wide range of mediums including drawing, painting (oil and acrylic), stop motion animation, hand made/craft processes using ready available materials, recycling techniques, print making, digital photography (including editing in Adobe Photoshop), as well as old photographic processes like the Cyanotype process.  From my experience and knowledge of these processes I can offer practical sessions specific to the student's choice and equipment available. I have a wide range of interests including learning languages (such as Serbian and Brazilian Portuguese from my heritage), singing, travelling, playing tennis and swimming.  Recently I started conservation volunteering with a local charity for local public green spaces to help create healthier and happier communities.

Are you thinking about getting a GCSE art tutor?

Taking art as your creative subject at GCSE offers a welcome break from your other academic subjects. As a totally coursework based subject, you are constantly building upon your previous works and need to maintain momentum until your final submission date. Investing in an art tutor will ensure that you gain the support and structure you need to perform to the best of your ability no matter your age or experience. At Tutor House, we provide online or in-person art tutoring to suit and accommodate every student's individual needs.

Your art tutor will provide exam board specific learning, creating a comprehensive learning plan tailored to each student's skill level. Depending on your sixth form it is usually necessary to have taken GCSE art to take art A-level. In this case, it's vital that you perform your best during the time leading up to your final art GCSE submission. Investing in an art tutor from Tutor House will help you understand in the process of creating aesthetic compositions, learn specific techniques, and grasp the technicalities of colour theory and anatomy that will collectively improve your art.

Even if you do not intend to take art any further than GCSE it is important to consider the impact of lower grades when applying to any work experience, apprenticeships, traineeships, or internships. By enlisting the help of a private art tutor achieving the highest grades possible you are minimising the chances of being overlooked. Competition for places on these programs is now higher than ever, meaning it is more important than ever to invest in your education to make sure you are best prepared for the future.

With our highly experienced and qualified art tutors, you can relax in the knowledge that you are getting the best possible support to succeed in your GCSE art. For best results, we recommend that you find and book your art tutor at least 3 months if not more before your final submission date. With an adequate amount of time, we have seen past Tutor House students achieve well above their previous grade predictions and achieve results up to three grades higher with Tutor House art tutoring.

Kathryn is a fantastic tutor who I have had the pleasure of working with in the classroom for the last year. One of her biggest strengths is identifying students individual needs and personalising the lesson, resources and support to ensure they succeed and reach their full potential. Kathryn's manner is friendly, calm and patient. She is reassuring and gives encouragement to her pupils throughout the sessions. I strongly recommend her.
