Currently, I am a Ph.D student in creative writing living in Manchester but I am available for Zoom lessons only. I am a published writer/poet and also run a successful small publishing press, focusing on writing in the experimental calibre. My experience tutoring began working with a fifteen year old girl a 4 years ago who was struggling with social anxiety and panic disorder. She was unable to go to school and I stepped in to help her pass her GCSEs. The whole experience shaped how I could help influence the student in an engaging and sensitive way, and inspire them to enjoy developing their knowledge. Also, as an experienced editor, it is in my nature to help the individual try and find their best way to express themselves in both an academic and creatively. I specialise in the following: ENGLISH LITERATURE: - Poetry - Shakespeare - The novel - Fiction and Drama - Literal and inferential comprehension - Critical reading - Evaluation of a writer’s choice of vocabulary, grammatical and structures features. - Comparing and contrasting texts - Revision/exam preparation and coursework/dissertation help ENGLISH LANGUAGE: - Critical reading and comprehension - Summary and synthesis - Evaluation of a writer’s choice of vocabulary, form, grammatical and structural features. - Comparing and Contrasting texts - Producing clear and coherent text - Writing for impact and purpose (selecting, organising and emphasising facts, ideas and key points; citing evidence and quotation effectively and pertinently to support views; creating emotional impact; using language creatively, imaginatively and persuasively, including rhetorical devices. - Creative Writing (in the form of "workshopping" and experimentation fo devices and ideas.) (If necessary, I have the experience to help students who suffer from anxiety disorder and issues surrounding self-confidence. Providing a tutoring experience that is aligned with the students personal needs and motivations) Please feel free to message me if you have any queries.

My specialism is Textile Design (print and constructed) with knowledge of a variety of print techniques. I also have vast experience in Art and Design applications at A level and GCSE Art, fashion and photography. This includes; Visual Recording in Art and Design, Ideas and Concepts, Visual Communication, Fashion Presentations Techniques, Exploring Textiles and 3D Sculptural textiles. In my teaching practise I introduce and cover all aspects of contextual study, historic and contemporary to inspire the design process along with practical skills to help extend knowledge and develop design awareness from initial recording of research, experimental drawing for art and design and fashion and textiles. This includes experimental drawing and mark making, fabric manipulation, artists research, composition, mood boards, encouraging the use of varying medium to inspire and develop personal style. I encourage students to experiment in their sketchbook to create a narrative that will support final outcomes for assessed work. I have substantial experience of project and curriculum development and delivery in KS4 and 5. *Prospective students/parents - if you could text me on 07845817534 to arrange a time to call to discuss your requirements or alternatively you can message me using the messaging function on the platform. Please note: the 'Instant book' option is disabled so you would need to contact on the number above first to arrange a time. Lessons are booked through the Tutorhouse platform. I have a knowledge of examining bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, Salters & CCEA, the American system and International Baccalaureate however can work towards other examining bodies by request. I work with individuals to identify why they may have problems and make a plan to ensure that they do their best during their exams. I help adolescents choose a career path for themselves and help them choose their GCSEs, A-Levels & University degrees all the while preparing them for entry exams for high-performing schools. I work with nursery, primary, middle school, high school and University students to give them a good basis upon which to continue their education. My teaching style is to educate from the very beginning hence I am able to fully home-school individuals. During my University degree I specialised in Learning, Memory & Teaching through a B.Sc. in Neuroscience at Manchester University with specific interests in Developmental Neuroscience and how the brain evolves from younger years to later life. I am proficient in using e-learning methodologies and IT in my teaching and for my final year university research I created an e-learning computer program to help students learn difficult concepts in their studies using fundamental Neuroscience concepts on Learning. This was a huge success and I was awarded a First for my Teaching & Learning research work and have been selected for 2 Neuroscience PhDs since! I also achieved a First in my Learning & Memory Penultimate Year University Thesis and achieved the second highest grade in the year (86%). I was selected to lecture Neuroscience within the Faculty of Medicine at University of Central Lancashire. I have been selected to provide educational consulting services for agencies for students who need help achieving their goals but have no idea how to achieve them. I have also been selected to run ‘crash’ revision courses by tutoring agencies and delivered lessons within a classroom environment. I am a professional Governess and Tutor having worked for Royal Families, Forbes List and many others. I have served a dual purpose of working as a PA for the families I have worked with on a residential basis and during other employment. I can work on a long term residential basis or by a lesson-by-lesson basis. I enjoy working with families and enjoy family dynamics and working with other tutors/household members. I also have experience of organising the schedules of several tutors, multiple children, household members, children’s activities and chefs to attain the best possible study results for the children. I also arrange suitable nutrition for children so they are able to learn and retain information. In addition, I have tutored abroad and love to travel. For Science subjects I focus a great deal on recall and exam technique, linking topics with other subjects, ensuring the student most importantly remembers the information during the time constraints of an exam. For Maths I give the student tricks and shortcuts. I make the student repeat these shortcuts many times until the problem solving technique is second-nature so that the student can implement these fast. For Art subjects I ensure that the student has used a wide-range of media and backed-up their choices with written explanations. I spend time organising portfolios so that they are at a standard for entry into schools such as St. Martins / Parsons. I ensure the student creates a specialist sketch book with work that gives them more marks. I ensure special projects have enough pieces and depth for a substantial A grade. I work on GCSE, A-level & degree exhibition layout ensuring work is presented and mounted in a cohesive manner, demonstrating examples of A* grades and ensure the students' work is at the same level. I also have significant English Language training and have taught English and grammar in a professional setting. In addition to online, I also provide in-person lessons in Kensington, London (details and address available upon request). I have significant experience in teaching students with learning difficulties and with students with conditions such as (but not limited to) ADHD, dyscalculia, dyslexia, autism however my approach here is largely atypical and unique. I also provide parental coaching for parents who may be experiencing challenges with their offspring. All in all, I hope to provide children and adolescents with a wholesome education to supply them with the skills to excel in their lives. Are you hoping to apply to top UK Art and Design undergraduate courses within the next year? Contact me to get a head start preparing your portfolio, and get motivated by working on a project outside of school. I also offer help with Art and Design study from GCSE level and up, and literacy skills for primary school age children. However big or small your goal, I would love to support you in achieving it. I studied Fine Art to degree level at Central Saint Martins College, and I am currently studying MA Photography at the Royal College of Art. Portfolio preparation for art and design university entrance is my speciality. In the last year my clients have gained places on top art courses at Central Saint Martins, Goldsmiths, Brighton, Nottingham Trent and Kingston. I am committed to education and the arts, and since graduating from the University of the Arts London in 2014 Prior to becoming a tutor I was employed as Archives and Special Collections Assistant at University of the Arts London, supporting teaching, learning and research for students of a wide range of academic abilities and needs. This role included giving workshops to students on a one-to-one basis, and in larger groups. I was also a guest tutor for the MA Culture, Criticism and Curation course at Central Saint Martins. Before my role at the university was made full time I was able to volunteer with the charity Beanstalk as a Reading 321 Helper, supporting three children twice weekly to improve their literacy. These were children in Primary School who had been identified as being behind with their reading skills. I have also been involved with The Girls Network Mentoring Scheme. If your child is struggling with literacy, and needs to find enjoyment in reading, contact me. Coming from a creative, academic background I appreciate that everyone has their own style of learning. I like to engage children with their own creativity in order to assist them with problem solving and finding their unique way to reach their academic goals.

Do you need extra support with Art or English? Hi, I’m Miss Awomosu, a qualified teacher with experience in both the Art & English curriculum. My expertise is centred around helping students with: idea formation, imaginative storytelling, developing effective sentence structure and descriptive writing. I have experience teaching Art & Design from reception through Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and Teaching English through Key Stages 2, 3 & 4. As a practitioner, I have worked with a wide range of SEN conditions throughout my career, including but not limited to: Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, behavioural and emotional difficulties, Selective Mutism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and ADHD. Over the years I have received invaluable in-school training and hands on experience which have enabled me to understand the different needs of individuals and the importance of a highly personalised curriculum. I am able to implement differentiation strategies which support a range of different learning styles and I can also be flexible in my approach to teaching and learning to ensure each individual learner makes good progress. I am available to tutor both Art and English and appreciate the importance of both subjects as part of a balanced and enriched curriculum. As a dedicated Tutor of English, I possess a deep passion for the art of literature and the power of the English language. I’m very much dedicated to instilling that same passion within the students that I teach. As a teacher of Art, I feel that it is important to bring forth cross-curricular links between both subjects to be able to communicate ideas in a manner that is clear, personalised and well-documented. In both subjects, I am dedicated to securing fantastic results! My teaching style is somewhat lively but not overly so. I tend to display a vivid and engaging personality which showcases my passion for teaching and learning. Overall, I love to build on students own skills and talents, delivering a personalised and highly individualised learning package. I also love to empower students to utilise their own creative imagination to develop thought processes and techniques which enable them to further develop both their critical and conceptual ideas and their knowledge and understanding; skills which translate well for both Art and English subjects. The National Curriculum for English states that students must "speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others and through their reading and listening, others can communicate with them”. I have to say, I very much agree with this statement. A keen understanding of how the English language is used to effectively convey ideas, creates an opportunity for students to not only develop a critical understanding of how language is used to transfer thoughts, feelings and ideas. But more importantly, it enables students to communicate their own creative ideas. Ultimately, I believe that developing a deeper understanding of the creative techniques used by artists, writers, poets et all is key to the success and continued development and of any student that I work with.

Film and Media expert offering support across a number of subjects, including maths and English. I'm an active film producer and film theorist who takes on some private tutoring work on the side. As such, I tend to only have one or two clients at a time, meaning my time with you is focused and catered towards your individual needs. I started my career in film after completing an undergraduate degree in Media Production at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Before graduating, I was already working in film production offices in the city and delivering work which won awards globally, including a BAFTA nominated feature film, I Am Nasrine (2012, dir Tina Gharavi). My experience has also seen me working with the delivery teams as part of large British film festivals, including Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest and now London Short Film Festival. Over the last 3 years I have supplemented this work by offering my services as a tutor, specialising in media studies and film. I have worked with private clients of all ages: either to support a young learner in their understanding of filmmaking skills, film history or perhaps the basics of animation, to augment a college or academy application; or working with adult learners, delivering more targeted sessions on specifics such as video editing, script writing or project management. Now based in South London, and shortly to complete an MA in Film & Screen Studies from Goldsmiths University of London, I am keen to share my expertise with new clients via Tutor House. I'm happy to discuss possibilities and opportunities with anyone whose curious to know more, and create a tuition plan which works best for you

Hi I'm Emily and I've tutored English language and literature for just over 3 years now, as well as Religious Studies and Philosophy. These subjects have always been a passion of mine and I love teaching others, helping them to understand and appreciate different texts, books, and theories. I also help with personal statements and love to help students through the university application process as I know how daunting it can be. Sometimes all it takes is another pair of eyes to have a look! I gained A levels in English language, Textiles, and Philosophy and Ethics before studying at the University of Leeds and graduated in 2020 with a 2.1 BA and industrial year in fashion design (bit of a change I know!). When the pandemic hit I had to rethink things and found myself wanting to help people instead, which inevitably turned into tutoring, as well as working as a community carer with children and adults with SEN. I am experienced in a range of needs and can accommodate accordingly. Tutoring English, RE and Philosophy for the past 3 years has been a dream come true. I've worked with so many lovely students and really felt like I've changed their outlook on the subjects. I love seeing their confidence soar and their faces light up when something suddenly clicks. I like to keep my lessons fun and engaging and make you feel like this is not just extra work because it can be fun trust me! No matter your struggles, I'd love to see where I can help.

My name is Lauren and I graduated from Oxford University (BA History). I attended a non-fee-paying state school in South Wales, where I achieved 11*s at GCSE and 4 A*s at A Level (English Literature, History, Art & Design and Welsh Baccalaureate), plus an A in AS Level Maths. I love teaching, and I am passionate about sharing my experiences and helping others reach their potential. I played a leading role in the Peer Assisted Learning Support network at my former secondary school and volunteered as a Mentor for current and prospective students at university. I have also tutored friends and family members at a range of levels and achieved excellent results. As my tagline states, I am not a boring tutor. I believe engagement is key and dedicate time to tailoring every lesson to each student’s specific learning style, requirements, and aspirations. This means my students build on areas of low confidence, reinforce their knowledge with practice, and achieve their goals without being bored out of their minds. It is fair to say I am not ‘all academia, no personality’. I am a drummer and an artist, and I enjoy running and going to the gym. I am friendly and relatable, and I would love it if you picked me as your tutor!

I am a practising resident artist at a local art studio community in South London interested in encouraging a more sensitive understanding of daily life through art.  I graduated with a BA in Fine Art (1st) at Chelsea College of Arts (2011-2014) including an Erasmus exchange at Iceland Academy of the Arts (2013) and achieved a Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design (Distinction) at Camberwell College of Arts (2010-2011).  Since completing my studies, I conducted an independent DIY artist residency (July-September 2014) in Copenhagen, Denmark culminating in a stay with a collaborative pop-up exhibition.  In 2015, I was commissioned to create illustrations and video graphics for on-stage video projection design for theatre in the UK and from 2016-2017 I returned to Denmark on several occasions to collaborate with local artists and exhibit further in non-gallery spaces.  Most recently, I have also exhibited in Finland and have focused on projects in the UK that encourage growth of local opportunities between creatives and the local community by leading the curation of an open studios exhibition at my studio.  In addition, I have worked on projects that promote awareness of local heritage such as being commissioned for faux painting to conserve a listed building in London and exhibiting at Coventry Cathedral to help commemorate events of World War Two. Alongside my experience as an independent freelance artist, I have also assisted at leading galleries, cultural archives and more commercial settings such as art fairs which would help students interested in furthering their art studies get a better understanding of the opportunities available to help craft their own path.  I have a year's experience of private art tutoring through arranging art activities for local friends and family which gave me an insight into the therapeutic qualities of my art practice and my ability to inspire confidence in individuals through teaching with my intuitive and playful approach to developing ideas by experimenting with a variety of media.  Aimed at students studying GCSE/A-level/AS level Art and Design and Design & Technology. I would tailor the sessions to each student's needs starting with an open discussion to gauge their interest in the subject and what they wish to get out of the sessions such as creative skills they want to develop that will equip them with the tools they need to direct their own investigations for their coursework.  Learning from examples of existing art work and design from my own experience, I will encourage students to explore how artists and designers respond to the world around them.  I want to help nurture the students' observational and reflective skills to develop their individual form of expression. I work across a wide range of mediums including drawing, painting (oil and acrylic), stop motion animation, hand made/craft processes using ready available materials, recycling techniques, print making, digital photography (including editing in Adobe Photoshop), as well as old photographic processes like the Cyanotype process.  From my experience and knowledge of these processes I can offer practical sessions specific to the student's choice and equipment available. I have a wide range of interests including learning languages (such as Serbian and Brazilian Portuguese from my heritage), singing, travelling, playing tennis and swimming.  Recently I started conservation volunteering with a local charity for local public green spaces to help create healthier and happier communities.

I am a graduate from Trinity College, Cambridge, having achieved my Bachelors degree in History (2:1). I am currently based in London, undertaking a Master's degree at the Royal College of Art (School of Fine Art and Humanities) I have a wide and varied experience with students of all ages and abilities and have spent time working in both primary and secondary schools. My main aim is always to help students find an interest in their subject, which leads to them translating this interest through their examinations. My specialism lies in Medieval and Early Modern History, however, I am very well equipped to help students with any written work that their course may demand (including GCSE, AS and A2 coursework). I also have experience with certain modern historical periods and have been assisting students with theses periods for some time. I also offer Oxbridge tutoring, help with Personal Statements, UCAS support and exam technique help. Further, I also offer help with Fine Art, a subject I fell in love with at the early age and am currently studying at the Royal College of Art. I completed my Masters degree at the University of the Arts London last year, achieving a Merit. I specialise in Oxbridge interviews and entrance exams, and am well versed with the Cambridge University HAA exam. I believe that my enthusiasm and experience, coupled with my academic ability enables me to be an able tutor.

I am an art historian who loves teaching people of all ages and abilities. I have worked as a researcher and educator in international art galleries in Mayfair and Zurich, and have taught BA students at the University of Zurich. Currently based in London, I am working towards my PhD in History of Art at the University of Zurich and KU Linz, where I have also taught. As well as expertise is in Asian and Western art since 1960, I have a very broad and robust knowledge of all periods of History of Art as taught in the United Kingdom. For A Level students, I am familiar with the AQA syllabus and find it an excellent teaching guide. For university students, I am happy to work with the course outlines and reading lists provided by the individual institution. I am also familiar with Cambridge Pre-U. Before I start teaching, I like to speak with the student and their family to establish the current level, identify any gaps and jointly create the learning objectives, from which I develop a study programme. I am happy to teach a course from beginning to end, or to jump in to cover any gaps or develop greater aptitude in certain areas, as required. In History of Art, I teach A Level, BA and MA students, as well as adults who would like to develop their interest in art. I also guide museum and gallery visits, which I find are an excellent way to facilitate learning. Because my academic work inherently relies on reading and writing, while my research encompasses English Literature, I also teach English Language and Literature up to A Level. I also help younger children with reading, writing, comprehension and spelling. Please drop me a message! Many thanks, Louise

Are you thinking about getting a GCSE art tutor?

Taking art as your creative subject at GCSE offers a welcome break from your other academic subjects. As a totally coursework based subject, you are constantly building upon your previous works and need to maintain momentum until your final submission date. Investing in an art tutor will ensure that you gain the support and structure you need to perform to the best of your ability no matter your age or experience. At Tutor House, we provide online or in-person art tutoring to suit and accommodate every student's individual needs.

Your art tutor will provide exam board specific learning, creating a comprehensive learning plan tailored to each student's skill level. Depending on your sixth form it is usually necessary to have taken GCSE art to take art A-level. In this case, it's vital that you perform your best during the time leading up to your final art GCSE submission. Investing in an art tutor from Tutor House will help you understand in the process of creating aesthetic compositions, learn specific techniques, and grasp the technicalities of colour theory and anatomy that will collectively improve your art.

Even if you do not intend to take art any further than GCSE it is important to consider the impact of lower grades when applying to any work experience, apprenticeships, traineeships, or internships. By enlisting the help of a private art tutor achieving the highest grades possible you are minimising the chances of being overlooked. Competition for places on these programs is now higher than ever, meaning it is more important than ever to invest in your education to make sure you are best prepared for the future.

With our highly experienced and qualified art tutors, you can relax in the knowledge that you are getting the best possible support to succeed in your GCSE art. For best results, we recommend that you find and book your art tutor at least 3 months if not more before your final submission date. With an adequate amount of time, we have seen past Tutor House students achieve well above their previous grade predictions and achieve results up to three grades higher with Tutor House art tutoring.

Kathryn is a fantastic tutor who I have had the pleasure of working with in the classroom for the last year. One of her biggest strengths is identifying students individual needs and personalising the lesson, resources and support to ensure they succeed and reach their full potential. Kathryn's manner is friendly, calm and patient. She is reassuring and gives encouragement to her pupils throughout the sessions. I strongly recommend her.
