I am a qualified teacher of Spanish, French and German. I have taught in the classroom and been a private tutor for nine years. This includes working as a Head of Languages in a secondary school. I've always been passionate about languages. But when I was a pupil, with an overemphasis on vocabulary and an underemphasis on grammar, the teaching limited my progress. This motivated me to become a languages teacher who gives students the underlying framework of a language in order to accelerate their progress toward fluency. I've had proven success. Due to my GCSE results, I was promoted to Head of Department within two years of stepping foot in the classroom - success which I sustained at KS3, GCSE and A-Level. While I love the classroom, my passion has turned towards one-to-one tuition, simply because the learning gains are so quick. Since taking on a new role for the Department for Education in whole-school improvement, I have more flexibility to offer private tuition, bringing my experience of Ofsted-outstanding teaching and learning to my online lessons. The one-to-one format allows me to pack more into my lessons than in the classroom, and to go deeper with each of my students. You can expect to be supported and challenged. You'll have homework after every lesson. Something I place a high value on is explaining to you, where appropriate, the language learning process so that you can begin to map out your learning journey towards fluency. I studied Spanish, French and German at University so am equally proficient in all three. I also earned a Masters in Education Leadership in 2014. I offer lessons at every level. Whether you're someone who has never tried a language, a GCSE student, or someone who's looking for a conversation partner, I'd love to meet you. Get in touch!

I am an experienced tutor, with over 10 years of experience. I am passionate about good quality teaching and a strong advocate for education. I enjoy sharing my subject knowledge and helping my students achieving their goal through rigorous work and emotional investment. I have a BA, MA and MSc in History and related subjects (Philosophy, Religious Studies, Cultures) and I am currently completing my PhD in the History of Emotions. As a trained historian, I am able to see the bigger picture, putting pieces together, with the strongest eye for details. Usually, I am excellent in identifying and addressing problems, especially in regards to my students or my classroom environment. My students have described me as a ‘rigorous’ and ‘inspiring’ tutor. I am Italian and I have been educated both in Italy (BA, MSc) and in the UK (MA, PhD). I have a wide, deep, solid knowledge of Humanities, particularly History, Cultural Studies and Religious Studies. I am fluent in English, Italian (mother tongue), Spanish (University level, DELE diploma) and French. I have also studied Ancient Greek and Latin. I can teach a History lesson starting from the etymology of a word, quoting literary texts and primary sources, using several different historiographical approaches. On the contrary, I can teach Spanish and Italian not only focusing on linguistic functions or grammar, but also explaining the meaning and use of the language through the culture and history of Spain and Italy. I would say my teaching approach is Socratic and solidly interdisciplinary. Essentially, I am comfortable teaching any subject in the Humanities. Currently I am working as an Assistant Tutor at the University of Warwick, where I teach a module focused on Early Modern European History, which is my area of expertise. I have experience in planning and delivering lessons, marking assignments, monitoring students' progress, being aware of health and safety as well as pastoral issues related to my students. During the last two years I have also worked for a charity called 'The Brilliant Club', delivering academic style programmes in schools, to promote higher educations for young people with high potentiality but disadvantaged backgrounds. I regularly teach Italians to kids in my local area and, when still residing in Italy, I worked for several years as private tutor for private families, assisting kids aged 7 to 17.

I'm an experienced science and language tutor with more than 10 years of teaching. SCIENCES I'm doing a PhD in Biology at the University of Oxford and have taught both within the university and in private summer schools in Oxford on the topic. I teach both high school students who need help preparing for exams, as well as university students who want to go in-depth within a certain subject or understand course material. My methods focus on applied learning, which means I'll help you understand why it is important to learn something and what you can do with that knowledge, not just how to learn. My teaching method for A-level students focuses on problem-based learning similar to university admissions interviews. I am comfortable teaching younger students in a variety of science subjects, including students with learning difficulties. You can expect a very fun, hands-on approach to learning. LANGUAGES I have extensive experience in teaching IELTS and other language exams (CPE, TOEFL). I have taught students successfully at the last minute. My approach is very tailored to the individual, so we would focus on the most effective techniques for the student. I have studied Spanish for over 10 years and obtained the highest certificate in Spanish as Foreign Language (DELE) with distinction. I was awarded first prize in many Spanish international competitions. For four years, I did courses in Spanish geography, history and culture, and I normally use what I learned to make my classes interactive and more than a way of teaching a language. I like immersing people in the Spanish culture, with its food, dances, famous painters and explorers. Have taught Spanish as foreign language for more than ten years, in one-to-one and one-to-few sessions. I adapt my style to the students I work with - for one, it can be all about having fun while translating lyrics of famous songs and watching Spanish short films (audio, experiential learners); for another it can be about rigorously tackling grammar and crafting complex stories. Regardless of the approach, you should expect that after a year of weekly/fortnightly classes you would advance by two levels (e.g. A2 to B2). I wholeheartedly recommend trying learning a language from a non-native speaker, as the way a foreign language is learned is very different from a native tongue. If you speak foreign languages, you know what I mean. If not, just give it a go!

Hi, thank you for landing on my profile. I am a native Italian and Chinese tutor, and I have been teaching languages (including English, French and Spanish) for 10 years, in person and online. I am passionate about empowering my students and designing classes that allow them to learn quickly whilst having fun. With the right method, anyone can learn a language, and I am here to help you find out what works best for you. Of course, if you have a textbook or a specific curriculum, we can follow that. I personally love learning languages because they open so many doors and help people connect in real life. I am teaching myself German, Russian, Catalan and next year I will start Japanese. About me, I spent 25 years between Europe and China and I am currently a PhD researcher in Travel&Tourism. I also work as a tour director organising and leading educational tours for schools and private groups.

I am a confident, caring and enthusiastic tutor and teacher, with excellent communication skills, looking for an opportunity to inspire others in acquiring a foreign language. I hold a UK QTS. I have over 15 years of experience in tutoring foreign languages, as well as experience in teaching in schools in the UK and in other countries. In my teaching I like to use a diversity of styles: directing, discussing, delegating, tailoring my lessons according to each student and their specific needs. I am very proud of my students' achievements; just to mention a few: one of my students for Spanish, whom I have tutored for GCSE, and who had very poor knowledge of Spanish when we started, managed to pass her GCSEs after only 8 sessions. One of my EAL students is now writing poems in English, he has already won a few awards for poetry and he is publishing his first book.

Hi! My name is Paula, I am a Chilean private tutor who teaches Spanish, EFL and singing. I have been a tutor for over 6 years now. Starting in Chile, I taught international students who needed to learn Spanish in order to integrate to their schools or workplaces. In addition, I helped students that were new to the international school and needed support with EFL in order to successfully take part in their lessons. Around that time, I also began teaching singing lessons privately and as a Music TA. When I moved to London I decided to continue private tutoring as a full-time job, as I find one-on-one lessons to be very fulfilling. It really is very inspiring to be able to help a student gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to expand their horizons. My teaching philosophy is based on setting the highest standards for all my students based on their needs. I firmly believe that a tutor’s highest responsibility is to bring forth the extensive potential of their student while further developing their personal interest and engagement with the subject. Because of my experience working in diverse teaching environments, I have had the pleasure of using different learning styles and creating unique studying atmospheres for students.

Hi there! I am currently an English and Spanish student in my third year at Oxford University. I have 1 year experience teaching both English and Spanish at GCSE standard, and 6 months experience teaching these subjects at A level. I remember how stressful preparing for these exams was, but I managed to find a revision strategy which works for me and achieved A*s in both these subjects at both GCSE and A level. I can help you to do the same! We can adapt lessons to suit your needs, and personalising our sessions to your exam board and set texts, as well to spend more time on topics you find difficult. For English I can share my revision materials and help you to build your own, and then we can begin to apply our knowledge through short essay practices and plans, before moving onto full exam preparation. For Spanish we can practice speaking, listening, reading and writing. We will then apply these skills through short exercises and worksheets, and them longer form practice. Feel free to contact me for a free trial lesson, and we can work together to find the perfect, low-stress plan to help you achieve the grades you deserve!

I am a 4th year Biology student from Leeds currently in my final year. I have been passionate about my love for Science and Education since a young age and have plenty of experience tutoring online science and being a mentor to children. I achieved A* in Biology at both GCSE and A-Level (both with AQA) and my dedication to the subject has only increased as I have studied it at Uni. I achieved an A* in Geography at A-Level as well as an A in GCSE Chemistry, Physics, English Language, English Literature and Geography. I spent last year at the University of Calgary in Canada where on a year abroad where I took new classes I couldn't take in Leeds while being exposed to new methods of teaching and assessment, developing my knowledge of how students best learn. I am currently applying for PGCE courses from September 2021. I have plenty of tutoring experience. I have been tutoring with a charity called CoachBright since October delivering GCSE Physics to wonderful students. I tutor online weekly to several groups of school students across the country. I am a STEM Ambassador for my university where I run events to encourage school children into STEM courses at university, especially aimed at BAME students. I have been accepted onto a Summer Camp in Canada next year where I will mentor a group of children aged 7-15 by leading activities and helping them reach their potential. I also have experience mentoring 1st year university students in their transition to higher education leading weekly sessions with 20 students. Being a student myself still I am fully aware of how difficult grasping concepts and learning can be! Students need concepts explained to them in a short and concise manner. I then encourage questions to be asked before setting questions and activities and working through problems with them. The ability of a student to explain concepts back to me is a keystone of them understanding these concepts. They should be able to do my job by the end of the session. I determine a students type of learning (e.g. visual, auditory, written) and tailor my lessons to their form of learning (e.g. providing visual demonstrations, written explanations etc.).

My name is Jonah and I am a graduate in Spanish and Linguistics from University of Oxford. In addition to Spanish and linguistics, I am interested in, and tutor, a variety of other subjects, namely French, Portuguese, English language, English literature and Maths. My attitude towards tutoring revolves primarily around the confidence of a student, and I have observed first-hand the major role that self-belief plays in learning. In my experience, what can often hold a student back is a lack of self-belief rather than a lack of ability for a given subject. Therefore, my tutoring style places an emphasis on nurturing confidence in a student. For example, I encourage all of my students to ask questions (I am of the opinion that there is no such thing as a stupid question!) in order that they are completely clear on, and therefore, confident of, the subject matter. I have found that a student with a high level of self-belief has a much greater propensity to take the lead in sessions and, as a result, to learn more efficiently and to enjoy the given subject! My extensive knowledge of language (I speak Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian) and understanding of linguistics put me in a perfect position to tutor and teach these subjects as there are few language-related difficulties that I have not before encountered myself as a student. My number one priority in teaching languages is the student's understanding of grammar as knowledge of the structure of language is both what is rewarded at the higher end of mark schemes and what gives the student confidence when they come to use their language skills. That said, I am fully aware of the importance of practicing the spoken element of a given language and in this way, learning more intuitively. In my opinion, a happy balance between the two is most conducive to language learning. In many ways the formulaic, structured and rule-based nature of language is reminiscent of mathematics and perhaps it is for this reason that I chose to study it at A level. Although I did not go on to study maths at university, it was my favourite subject by the end of my school career and I often wish I had taken it further. As with languages, I believe confidence is key to the apprehension of mathematics and, therefore, I encourage my students to see maths as a series of puzzles to be solved rather than a set of daunting exam questions. Please don't hesitate to get in touch for any further questions!

My teaching methods are adapted depending on my students learning needs. Every single student is different and we all learn in different ways. For this reason, courses are well adapted and personalised to all students' needs. Lessons are well organised and planned in advance. They are also attractive and diverse as we will be using many different resources and dealing with the four different language skills. We will mainly concentrate on the areas that might be of your interest or that you might want to develop more. Teaching is my passion and I am always there to support my students in their learning process. I am a very positive, friendly and supportive teacher that will make you enjoying your learning! Let's take our first free online lesson to get to know each other and see how we can work together! Therefore, I have 7 years of experience in teaching. I am mainly an Spanish and English teacher in Secondary Education and Sixth Form, although I have a lot of experience in Nursery and Primary Education too. I can also teach music and piano lessons. All the results obtained by students have been very good and they all have passed their exams with high marks. Families have always shown their content with the lessons and the results obtained. Furthermore, I have been guiding mostly all students for several years. I also have been teaching in Schools. I usually adapt materials in terms of the students' needs and reinforce the areas that need to be most improved or that appear to be more difficult for them. I use a lot of different resources and try to engage students in a positive and appealing way.
