My name is Samuel and I graduated from Cambridge University in 2007 with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. In addition to this, I hold a Professional Tutoring Certificate (Distinction awarded) and I am a fully qualified teacher too. I have a passion for teaching/tutoring Mathematics and Sciences (mostly Physics, Chemistry and Biology) to GCSE and A-level students. I have mentored and tutored students from an assorted array of backgrounds since 2002, helping some to get to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities and helping them with interview preparations when requested. My teaching journey started in 2002 when I took a year out working as an assistant/support teacher actively involved in mentoring, lesson planning and marking. I take pride in having been commended for my teaching style where I always ensure to explain everything in the simplest of manners and take an approach that most suits the student to bring out their best effort. After graduating from Cambridge, I went on to seek professional employment as a graduate engineer but never left my passion for teaching. I therefore volunteered as a STEM ambassador where I shared my passion for Science and Mathematics to students from various backgrounds. I continue to take utmost joy and pleasure in tutoring and helping students attain their full potential; and in this regard, I can assure any prospective students that they’ll be getting the most out of their time and money whilst paving way for a bright future.

I am currently in the final year of a PhD in chemistry at UCL following an MChem degree at the University of Durham. As part of my duties and responsibilities as a PhD student, I have taken part in laboratory demonstrating and marking for the undergraduate students. I have enjoyed talking through the chemistry of the students' experiments and have found more effective ways to communicate science over time. When marking, I leave no stone unturned and always emphasise the use of concise and precise scientific language in answering questions. I am keen to bring this thorough approach to more students at the crucial GCSE and A-level stage via one-to-one tutoring.

Hi, I’m Reem! I have a bachelors degree in Biomedical Science from University of Manchester and I have over 4 years experience tutoring both GCSE and A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I have experience with different exam boards like AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas and I have taught over 5000 hours, including face to face and online sessions. Tutoring Experience: I started tutoring while I was at university and realised how much I enjoyed teaching so I continued tutoring on a full-time basis after I graduated. I have felt a true sense of job satisfaction with tutoring because I get to help my students achieve their target grades and get into university. I also appreciate the flexibility tutoring provides as it has allowed me to continue studying. I am currently studying statistics and a few programming languages before I start my masters in Bioinformatics at Imperial College London. Being a student, I have the experience of studying for many exams especially ones that required writing essays. I adopted different effective learning techniques that helped me learn a lot of information and helped me recall the information during exams. Tutoring Approach: I am passionate about the subjects I teach and I try to instil the same enthusiasm in my students as well. I treat each student as an individual and I adjust my teaching style to accommodate their needs and make learning enjoyable. I become quickly aware when a student has not understood a concept and change my angle of explanation until they do understand. Generally my sessions include the following: -I cover all topics in details and make sure all the objectives in the specification are understood by the student. I use a digital drawing pad and share my illustrations using platforms such as Skype, Microsoft Teams or Zoom. I also make use of images and animations to help with my explanations since the brain is highly visual and retains more information when presented with images. -I consistently question the student throughout the lesson to ensure they are engaged and understand what is being taught. One of the learning methods of testing yourself regularly is known as active recall, which helps your brain strengthen the ability to retain and retrieve the information from memory quicker. -I provide topic-based past paper questions for the student to practice so they grow more confident as the learn how to apply their knowledge to exam questions. -I share different learning techniques that have helped me, like the use of mind maps/spider diagrams, Anki flashcards and effective revision timetable. Another effective method of memorising is called spaced practice, where learning occurs over multiple periods at different points in time. The forgetting curve states that the decline of memory retention over time is exponential and resetting the curve can be done by reviewing content at spaced intervals. This is why repetition over spaced intervals is important as it helps encode the information into our long-term memory. -Finally I provide feedback on how the student is progressing and what further improvements can be made. Thanks for reading till the end and please feel free to ask me any questions!

I am a current undergraduate student at Durham University in my second year of an integrated masters degree in Physics and I achieved A*/A*/A/B in my A level exams in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Music. I have a year and a half tutoring experience from GCSE to pre-university level and have also tutored adult learners looking to become mature students. My lessons are conducted online, and I will spend our first 15 minute meeting getting to know you and how I can best help you achieve your goals. Subsequent lessons will be tailored to the student, focusing on either learning new concepts, revision, practising exam technique or a combination of all three. As the student, you guide which topics we cover but I will offer advice if you are unsure as to what would be beneficial. As a current student myself, my sessions have a relaxed atmosphere and rather than having a 'teacher' I am more like a peer mentor. Having recently sat my own GCSE and A level exams, I am well acquainted with a variety of specifications, including international qualifications, and what life in school is currently like. In my spare time, I am a keen musician, playing the cello with multiple university orchestras and singing in one of the choirs. I also enjoy learning languages including German, French and Russian.

I have a degree in Chemistry, with more than 4 years of experience as a tutor and intern-researcher during the years in the University. Although I´m actually working as an on-line General Chemistry tutor, my other areas of expertise are: Analythical Chemistry, Bio-physiscs and Physical-chemistry. I offer really interactive and dynamic classes. My main tutoring method is guiding the student through the learning process, teaching all the concepts and giving all the examples needed to fully understand the subject/s. I can also offer classes to review/reinforce a specific subject (from zero if needed), for students who are really struggling with the theory of it.

I discovered my natural calling is to impact humanity with the knowledge and passion that I have, as a result I left the Engineering sector a year ago so as to allow me have more time with students. Impacting the lives of students positively gives me fulfilment and joy. I love to share knowledge and empower the younger generation. I am skilled at conveying complex mathematical and scientific concept in a simple and concise manner and I am an advocate of lifelong Learning. I have Tutored/Mentored over 200 students for Medical and Engineering/Technology related courses across various universities in the UK, USA, Canada and Africa in the last 15 years. 96% of my (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics) students get A or A* score in GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels Exams every year. Hello, my name is Tancrede and I am second-year economics student at University College London. The typical length of a lesson is between 1 and 2 hours, although I am very flexible and I can adapt to tutees' needs and preferences. Regarding my teaching methodology, I first ensure that students know the course material perfectly before doing exercises or past papers as I believe exercises require to apply the course material. Also, I put emphasis on using logic and critical thinking rather than just applying the course material as I think this helps a lot more for understanding and answering more complex questions. I believe my greatest strength is my ability to always give my best and put as much effort as I can in my work. Furthermore, as an international student, I am used to adapting to different environments and people. For those reasons, I believe I will be a good tutor as I will be committed to my students and I will adapt my teaching methods to each of my students.

Hi, I am Gordon. I am a Graduate of Cell and Molecular biology and gain my degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I am currently a master's student studying MRes Brain Science at the University College London. I have a great affinity for Neuroscience and Biology and am also passionate to share my knowledge in Biology. The MRes program has also afforded me the opportunity to communicate ideas clearly and accurately. Members of our research group all work on very different projects and, as we specialise in our own field, it is easy to overlook the fact that our work could be difficult to understand. In our weekly meetings, I have the opportunity to improve my communication skills. These experiences led me to develop a repertoire of strategies to explain abstract and unfamiliar concepts and I believe this will be very useful in teaching as well. I understand the difficulties of studying biology and am dedicated to guiding students to achieve better in the field of Biology.

Hi, I am a Theoretical Physicist. I hold a Bachelor in Physics from The University of Paris (2014) and a Masters in Theoretical Physics (2016) from King’s College London. I have taught and tutored pupils, students and adult learners since 2014 in the following subjects: - Physics - Mathematics - Chemistry - Biology - French Language I particularly enjoy the intellectual challenge of breaking out concepts to my students. Teaching is also a way of further encoding knowledge into my brain so it is a win-win process! The conduction of my lesson really depends on the profile of my student because I do believe that it is the teacher/tutor who needs to adapt to the learner. So generally, my pedagogy is function of the student’s learning type (visual, hearing, writer). A common feature of all my lessons is to start with the basics knowledge such as a course, a rule or a theorem before starting the proper training. In my free time, I enjoy pilates, running and playing chess. I also love contemporary art and currently learning how to grow my own plants.

Hi there, my name is Ines, and I am a Chemistry Graduate from the University of Edinburgh. I am enthusiastic about chemistry and how it can explain everything that goes on in everyday life. I also love teaching Maths and the other sciences too! About my session: In my sessions I will focus on making sure concepts are understood and then help my student develop the skills needed to apply them. I have been tutoring for over 3 years now and have noticed a pattern emerge among students. Most are missing exam technique, they understand everything at school but struggle to get the grades they deserve in tests. If this happens to be the case for you we will tackle this is past paper questions filling in any gaps in your knowledge as we go along. I aim to teach what the student wants covered unless they are unsure of where to start. If they are unsure, past papers will help me to identify areas that need work on and we can structure lessons from there.

What does a chemistry tutor do?

A GCSE Chemistry tutor can help you with revision, past paper practice and understanding difficult topics. Our tutors have experience with all exam boards, including AQA, OCR and Edexcel.

How hard is GCSE chemistry?

The pass rate for GCSE chemistry is around 89% – making it one of the harder subjects on the curriculum. Chemistry requires students to be adept in maths and english to some extent. Many students opt to retake their GCSEs if they don't meet their target grades in the chemistry exams. Hiring a chemistry tutor can help you overcome challenging topics and grow your confidence.

Thinking of getting a Chemistry GCSE tutor?

Whether you have chosen single, double, or triple award science, Chemistry plays a core part in the GCSE curriculum. GCSE Chemistry is the first time you are introduced to the complexities of the subject. From here on, things become a little more in-depth and complicated, and it can be difficult to master.

Topics like ionic compounds, moles, quantitative and organic chemistry may sound intimidating. However, with just a few Chemistry lessons, you will quickly gain the confidence and understanding needed to go on to achieve excellent GCSE results. If you hire a chemistry tutor at least 3 months before your GCSE exams, you'll be in the best possible position. In this amount of time, we have seen our past students achieve well above their current grade level and achieve results up to 3 grades higher!

Even if you are not thinking about taking your Chemistry beyond GCSEs, it is important to remember the negative impact lower grades can have when applying for traineeships, apprenticeships, and even internships. As work experience places become more and more competitive, don’t let lower grades get in the way of your future career goals.

It is now more important than ever to invest in your or your child's education, so that you are best prepared for the future – whatever may be in store. With a chemistry tutor from Tutor House, you can rest assured that you are in the best hands before the GCSE Chemistry exams. Give us a call to learn more or for help to be matched with your perfect chemistry tutor.
