Hi, I’m Dharani! I am a final year medical student at King’s College London. I have been a tutor for 4 years, teaching maths and science up to A-Level. In addition to my 4 years of tutoring, I have experience as school mentor, helping a group of Year 12 students with their AS Biology during lunchtimes. The Sessions: Before the session, it would be helpful if you could let me know what you would like to cover. At the start, I will give you a topic overview and then we can do some exam questions to find out which areas need more work and to develop a good exam technique. I will try to be enthusiastic and make the session enjoyable so that you will be more engaged and therefore grasp the concepts better. I'm applying to medical school - can you help me? Yes! I have been through the application process and am familiar with how intense and demanding it can be! I hope I can impart some of my knowledge and advice to reduce the stresses of your university application and hopefully enable you to go into the process feeling a little more clued up.

I am a graduate of Oxford University. I tutored throughout my studies, and consequently have 9 years of experience - both in the UK and abroad. I teach English Language and Literature, History, Latin and Greek and French up to A-level, as my main subjects. I have also specialised in tutoring the humanities up to A-Level/ IB Level tutoring, including politics, religious studies and history. I have taught at all levels, having worked with students as young as 5 years-old, through to A-Level students and adult learners. I have experience in preparing students for the ISEB Pre-tests, for 11+, 13+ and common entrance - English and maths. I have successfully coached many students through the application procedures to top UK independent schools, including Eton College and Harrow School, and to top universities including Cambridge University and University College London. I am a committed tutor and have consistently produced excellent results. I believe that effective teaching must focus on the student’s needs and must be engaging and fun. I always strive to bring the best out in my students.

I am currently studying Biochemistry at University of Oxford having finished schooling at North London Collegiate School where I gained 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. I have had previous experience tutoring IB biology, chemistry, English, maths and economics as well as GCSE French, English, maths, biology and chemistry. I believe in altering my teaching style according to the student and have had experience in tutoring a variety of different academic abilities and ages. I am extremely organised and am happy to go above and beyond in regards to preparation and gathering resources to help the student. My experience in tutoring for IB and GCSE means that I am good at ensuring that all parts of the syllabus are covered and that the student is well informed of what’s expected in the exam. One of my IB students was recently admitted to Tufts University in Massachusetts while other students that I am currently tutoring for SAT are currently applying for numerous highly ranked American Universities.

I am a highly experienced tutor of A level (and GCSE) Physics, Chemistry and Maths with an additional specialism in GASMAT, where I have many successful students. I provide support for students preparing for their entrance exams, and for their GCSE and A level exams. I also assist students with their UCAS applications and university interviews. I have a lot of recent experience of teaching GAMSAT students, a specialism of mine. Recently I won a prize as the best new tutor at a tutorial agency, and last academic year my six A level Physics students achieved A*, A*, A*, A*, A* and A respectively. I am a top-rated GAMSAT tutor. My aim is to help my students to reach their full academic potential and get the grades they deserve. I believe in making sure that the underlying fundamental concepts are fully understood as this provides a solid foundation. There is nothing more rewarding than a student saying, "oh yes, now I get it". My tutoring style is to seek to identify the key areas where support is required and then patiently and sympathetically to help and encourage my tutees to master these areas. I have a post-graduate teaching degree and have taught in a number of Schools, Colleges and Universities. I tutor individuals and also groups in schools, sixth form Colleges and Russell group universities. I was a lecturer at Imperial College for 26 years where I was an admissions tutor, senior tutor and postgraduate tutor and became deputy director of the Graduate school. I won the Rectors award for excellence in teaching at Imperial College twice. I have recent experience of tutoring and one to one teaching and also of tutoring in four central London schools, namely the City and Islington college, the Harris academy St Johns Wood, St Saviours and St Olave' school and the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson school, Islington. In my spare time I like to swim, exercise in the gym and kayak. I also love to travel and have lived and worked in Singapore, Sydney, Dallas and on a short placement in the Punjab. I support QPR more in hope than in expectation!

I am a trained professional physicist, having studied at both undergraduate and graduate levels at two of the worlds leading universities, and currently working as a radiotherapy physicist in an NHS hospital cancer treatment centre. I have 6 years experience in tutoring in physics and mathematics one-to-one and in small groups, with students of primary school age through to university undergraduates. I also have one year of experience working as a TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) instructor to Japanese students. As a professional physicist I am highly skilled and knowledgeable not only in physics, but also mathematics, statistics, computer programming and IT systems. I take a keen interest in all areas of science, and can confidently tutor in all of these subjects up to A-level. I have always been fascinated by science, and as a high school student was initially interested in studying medicine. Unfortunately, I found myself feeling faint at the sight of blood and guts, and doubts as to my suitability for the profession began to creep into my mind. I had an amazing physics teacher at A-level, who inspired me to instead pursue physics at university. I excelled in my undergraduate studies and then progressed on to PhD level overseas, where I undertook fundamental research in experimental nuclear physics. This involved smashing atoms together using a particle accelerator in order to understand the properties of nuclear matter, reactions such as nuclear fusion and nuclear fission, as well as to synthesise new 'superheavy' chemical elements that do not exist in nature! Funnily enough, my experience working with particle accelerators, electronics, and radiation detector technology lends itself very handily to working in the healthcare sector, both in the treatment of cancer using high energy X-rays, and in various diagnostic imaging techniques using both ionising and non-ionising radiation. So I have now come more or less full circle from my high school ambitions to work in medicine, except now I get to avoid the blood and guts! During my GCSE years, in fact I really didn't enjoy physics due to poor teaching at school, and strongly considered not taking the subject at A-level- I only did so reluctantly in the belief that it would aid my application for medicine. Without the excellent teaching that was provided by my A-level teacher, I am sure I would have followed a very different and perhaps less satisfying path. When I tell people I am a physicist, I often receive replies of 'Oh wow! You must be so smart!' Many people struggle with physics and maths in school, and are highly intimidated by the subject. What if I told you that physics, based upon the fundamental rules of nature, is in fact the easiest subject in science? It is my goal as a tutor to transform their perception of physics from an intimidating subject that must be endured throughout school and then never thought of again, to a way of thinking and a toolbox of skills that will be useful for their future in many aspects of life. In tutoring in my subject I hope that I can instill a curious interest in the fundamental aspects of nature such as my favourite teacher did for me, as well as keeping my own understanding of physical principles and teaching skills sharp for use in my science career.

I'm a graduate of the University of Oxford with a degree in Biology. My aim is to help students who find science challenging or uninteresting gain the self confidence needed to achieve the grades they deserve. My experience as a biology graduate enables me to provide students with information that goes above and beyond the expectation of the core syllabus. By being given the opportunity to study the subject at greater depth, students can expect to improve their level of understanding of the necessary material and thus display their knowledge with greater proficiency. I am able to teach students up to A-level in Biology and up to GCSE level in Chemistry and Maths. My lessons typically involve covering a topic of your choosing and enhanced by examples that aren't provided in standard textbooks. Every student has a different method of learning and so I adapt my teaching to suit each individual's learning style.

Initial Teacher Trainee at the London Academy with a 1st Class Honours degree in Economics and Mathematics. Over 2 years of tutoring experience in several areas but with key experience in Math from KS1-KS5 and 11+ especially with the GL and CEM exams. I also have a lot of experience from my time as a SEND Assistant in a high school from working with students with learning limitation and have been able to allow them to achieve their true potential through various methods. I believe the key thing I can always do is to make the material accessible and personable so that the student can make a connection with his work and also understand the steps he needs to take to get there using the knowledge he already has.

I studied economics at City University of London in 2017, then after I went to read a MSc in Health Economics & Decision Science at UCL in 2018 and achieved 2:1 and merit grades respectively. I have worked as a health economic researcher for a university, where I would apply statistical techniques to answer health and social care questions. My teaching style is dependent on the following competencies: • Patience. Everyone has different learning abilities, and this is important to understand to ensure that information is being taken in. This may mean that you may have to go over material more than once or have to prioritise one subject over another. • Punctual. Regardless of the exam board you're sitting, I make sure to bring all the necessary materials with me. • Praise. There is nothing more reassuring than knowing that you are progressing and that means giving lots of praise when it is due. I am a firm believer that confidence leads to better academic performance. • Listen. This needs no explanation; it's important for me to understand where the student is academically so I can progress through the lesson accordingly. • Make learning interesting. Using real world examples or applying a method to a scenario gives the material more context and often it becomes more understandable. Aside from my work and academic background I have many hobbies. I go to the Arsenal games regularly and have been going since I was 7; Note: this does not mean I do not tutor non-Arsenal fans :), I enjoy playing golf and have represented my golf club at junior and adult level, going to the gym to keep active and seeing friends and family.

I've been a Maths tutor since 2008 and during that time, I've taught 100's of students. I help students both intellectually and emotionally. I get results. I'm expert at helping children gain entry to independent and grammar schools. I've helped students prepare for independent school exams in Central London: Alleyn’s City of London Girl’s School, Dulwich College, Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’, North London Independent Girls’ Schools’ Consortium, City of London for Boys, Francis Holland, Godolphin and Latymer, Haberdasher’s Aske, St Pauls and Westminster and for grammar schools in South East London in Bexley and Kent. I trained to be a primary school teacher at Goldsmiths College. I can help GCSE students get a grade A or B in the higher paper and a C in the foundation paper. I've taught 10's of students helping them grow in confidence and acheive their goals. I have 2 A levels in Maths (A, A) and a degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham (2:2). I have a lot of experience teaching children and adults who are anxious about Maths. I've helped more than 100 trainee teachers with passing the QTS Skills Test. The test requires them to be able to do mental maths questions quickly. I help them to feel confident under pressure and teach them the strategies they need. I've taught several students with Aspergers, Autism and Dyscalculia. They way I support both the teachers and the children is to help them with managing their emotions. My own experience, personal and teaching, has shown me that when we're disconnected from our feelings, we can't learn effectively and that by encouraging students to become aware of their feelings and to manage them, significant changes can occur. I can understand the difficulties and frustrations you and them might be feeling and I'd love to see if I can help you with this. In addition to teaching Maths, I've also spent more than 1500 hours listening and talking to children and adults online in the capacity of coach/English teacher. I can build rapport, gain trust and get to know a person very quickly. This enables me to be an effective tutor and coach I enjoy helping children achieve their potential. I do this by creating a nurturing and safe space for them to learn, adapting my teaching to their individual needs. I prefer to teach children with a realistic expectation of acheiving the results you want. I don't believe in stretching children beyond what they're capable of so if you want a tutor who cares about your child's wellbeing first and results second, that's me. I also want your child to have decided for themselves, in partnership with you or alone, that they want tuition and if they want to enter a school, that they want and are prepared to have tuition to acheive their/your goal. I take your child's coaching very seriously and dedicate 30 to 60 minutes to prepare for each class. I pay a lot of attention to how your child is feeling and can help them to become aware of and learn to manage their emotions. I communicate your child's progress with you, so far as I feel this is helpful for them and you. I don't want to overcommunicate and I want you to trust the process and understand that each child has their own pace. Soon enough, you'll see that your child makes progress, not just in Maths but more generally. I'm one of the more experienced tutors in London and for a time, I had my own tuition agency managing a small team of tutors. I went to more than 50 countries and had some incredible adventures. I'm organised and respectful of your time and I can adapt to your family's culture.

I use a very flexible, student-centred approach, catering to the individual needs of students who learn differently. I believe building confidence and self-advocacy goes hand-in-hand with teaching skills and metacognitive strategies. With over 3 decades’ experience working with dyslexic, AD/HD, Aspergers, gifted and other neurodivergent and exceptional students, I focus on discovering the STRENGTHS of pupils to mitigate their needs. All students learn differently and all students can learn once we find their cognitive style. I hold an MSEd in Exceptional Educational Needs and a BA in English as well as a PGCert in Information & Library Studies. I have worked mainly at the secondary and High School level teaching in all subjects. I specialise in the American Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and in research and essay-writing skill development. I prefer to use a "live workshopping" approach using Zoom whiteboard or the Edit-Suggest tool in Google docs so students can follow my written editorial suggestions in a real-time 1:1 intensive session while I simultaneously provide oral feedback. My students typically come to me suffering mediocre attainment, low confidence, and untapped potential but leave/graduate with huge improvements beyond parental expectations--as my recommendations will confirm. Over my 30-year career, I have helped hundreds to achieve success. I also specialise in preparation for American examinations including College Board AP (Advanced Placement) ACT, SAT and PSAT exam preparation. I am also qualified in psycho-educational and psychometric testing by the BPS (British Psychological Society) and can provide pre-diagnostic testing and screening for suspected dyslexia and dyscalculia and IQ testing for cognitively gifted and twice-exceptional students. I have enhanced DBS clearance, having worked for many years in independent schools and with HNW families in Surrey. As a teacher as well as the parent of a teen with dyslexia who is also gifted, I have a unique insight into the strengths and needs of twice-exceptional students and familiar with the emotional sensitivity that such students often possess. I have worked mainly within the International school system with “Third Culture Kids” and dependents of high net-worth foreign nationals and expats living in the Greater London area. I am happy to supply references from previous clients (parents of clients) upon request.
