I have a MSc in Forensic Psychology graded 1st class honours. I also have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Counselling. I have one years experience tutoring English at a secondary school. Particularly with individuals who find it challenging to learn in the typically mainstream approach. I also have three years experience working in clinical and forensic settings across multiple roles; positive behaviour support practitioner, assistant psychologist and behaviour consultant. Which along with my education has provided me with essential skills and knowledge regarding key areas of psychology. I have also understand a PBS UK course which supports the governments motion to add this topic into the undergraduates psychology degree. It looks at behaviour for an applied behaviour analyst view. I have also understand a cognitive behaviour therapies training course which is essential and the main therapy used in talk therapy. Through my experience in multiple settings I have access to resources that are useful for my teaching styles. For example interactive games that enrich understanding for kinaesthetic learner. I am able to create and use auditory videos for auditory learners etc.

Teaching Experience Maxim has tutored since graduating from Oxford in 2019. He has delivered over 1000 hours of tutoring, a testament to his commitment and dedication. In 2022, one of Maxim's students scored an A* in A-Level Politics, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. His students regularly gain top grades in A-levels and coursework. In 2021, both long-term Politics students got their desired grades and went to their dream universities. Maxim has experience across the Humanities, including various A-Level Politics syllabi and exam boards. The Oxbridge tutorial system (going through essays forensically and discussing them in depth) is central to Maxim's tutoring. These were, in his own words, "the best years of my life, with a learning experience I'm keen to share." Testimonials “The amount of history and your ability to create a timeline in order to help me learn the syllabus, although (it) may seem like common sense, makes the course much easier to understand thanks to you.” Andreas (A-Level Politics student) “Maxim tutored our son regularly throughout his A level Politics course. He was awarded an A* in his exam. Maxim has extensive background knowledge about the subject, exam technique and offers patience and persistence. Our son said he misses the sessions now the exams are over, which is a real endorsement. I would thoroughly recommend Maxim.” Jane (parent of former Politics student) Bio Maxim is a Masters student in London, studying Broadcast Journalism. Before that, he spent two years working exclusively as a freelance History and Politics tutor. He spent three years at Trinity College, Oxford reading History and Politics. At Oxford, Maxim focused on British and international politics, achieving high marks in International Relations and US Politics. While a student, Maxim also appeared on University Challenge and was twice an elected member of the Oxford Union's governing body. Maxim got three A grades at A-Level, notching up 100% in UK Politics with additional success in US Politics. Maxim received offers from LSE and Warwick along with Oxford.

*Prospective students/parents - if you could text me on 07845817534 to arrange a time to call to discuss your requirements or alternatively you can message me using the messaging function on the platform. Please note: the 'Instant book' option is disabled so you would need to contact on the number above first to arrange a time. Lessons are booked through the Tutorhouse platform. I have a knowledge of examining bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, Salters & CCEA, the American system and International Baccalaureate however can work towards other examining bodies by request. I work with individuals to identify why they may have problems and make a plan to ensure that they do their best during their exams. I help adolescents choose a career path for themselves and help them choose their GCSEs, A-Levels & University degrees all the while preparing them for entry exams for high-performing schools. I work with nursery, primary, middle school, high school and University students to give them a good basis upon which to continue their education. My teaching style is to educate from the very beginning hence I am able to fully home-school individuals. During my University degree I specialised in Learning, Memory & Teaching through a B.Sc. in Neuroscience at Manchester University with specific interests in Developmental Neuroscience and how the brain evolves from younger years to later life. I am proficient in using e-learning methodologies and IT in my teaching and for my final year university research I created an e-learning computer program to help students learn difficult concepts in their studies using fundamental Neuroscience concepts on Learning. This was a huge success and I was awarded a First for my Teaching & Learning research work and have been selected for 2 Neuroscience PhDs since! I also achieved a First in my Learning & Memory Penultimate Year University Thesis and achieved the second highest grade in the year (86%). I was selected to lecture Neuroscience within the Faculty of Medicine at University of Central Lancashire. I have been selected to provide educational consulting services for agencies for students who need help achieving their goals but have no idea how to achieve them. I have also been selected to run ‘crash’ revision courses by tutoring agencies and delivered lessons within a classroom environment. I am a professional Governess and Tutor having worked for Royal Families, Forbes List and many others. I have served a dual purpose of working as a PA for the families I have worked with on a residential basis and during other employment. I can work on a long term residential basis or by a lesson-by-lesson basis. I enjoy working with families and enjoy family dynamics and working with other tutors/household members. I also have experience of organising the schedules of several tutors, multiple children, household members, children’s activities and chefs to attain the best possible study results for the children. I also arrange suitable nutrition for children so they are able to learn and retain information. In addition, I have tutored abroad and love to travel. For Science subjects I focus a great deal on recall and exam technique, linking topics with other subjects, ensuring the student most importantly remembers the information during the time constraints of an exam. For Maths I give the student tricks and shortcuts. I make the student repeat these shortcuts many times until the problem solving technique is second-nature so that the student can implement these fast. For Art subjects I ensure that the student has used a wide-range of media and backed-up their choices with written explanations. I spend time organising portfolios so that they are at a standard for entry into schools such as St. Martins / Parsons. I ensure the student creates a specialist sketch book with work that gives them more marks. I ensure special projects have enough pieces and depth for a substantial A grade. I work on GCSE, A-level & degree exhibition layout ensuring work is presented and mounted in a cohesive manner, demonstrating examples of A* grades and ensure the students' work is at the same level. I also have significant English Language training and have taught English and grammar in a professional setting. In addition to online, I also provide in-person lessons in Kensington, London (details and address available upon request). I have significant experience in teaching students with learning difficulties and with students with conditions such as (but not limited to) ADHD, dyscalculia, dyslexia, autism however my approach here is largely atypical and unique. I also provide parental coaching for parents who may be experiencing challenges with their offspring. All in all, I hope to provide children and adolescents with a wholesome education to supply them with the skills to excel in their lives. I am a highly experienced and friendly 11+, GCSE and A-Level tutor. I have been preparing students for exams for nearly a decade and have learnt what how to help each individual succeed. I have also taken a lot of exams myself during my career in NHS Child and Adolescent psychotherapy and research so I know from my own experience what it takes to excel. My experience of working as an NHS Child and Adolescent psychotherapist means that I am highly experienced in working with teenagers who are finding it hard to focus or are feeling lost or demotivated in relation to their work. I have tutored throughout my career, working with primary school students, and preparing students for 11+ and 13+ entry, GCSEs, A-Levels and university exams. I have an excellent track record of supporting students to raise their grades for public exams. I really enjoy working with children from Key stage 1 all the way up to degree level. I have a great deal of experience working with children who have Special Educational needs, ADHD and ASC. I have also worked as a school based English, Psychology, History and Politics GCSE and A-Level tutor. I have led full courses in English GCSE, R.E. GCSE and Psychology A-Level. I have much experience of supporting students to write UCAS statements. I have been trained by University admissions teams to know how students can get Russell Group university offers. I am an experienced proofreader and have worked with many people to help them improve their written English for undergraduate and postgraduate level submissions. I have an excellent track record of supporting students to improve their performance at 11+ and to raise their grades, often by multiple grade boundaries. My experience has taught me that three factors are crucial to helping students excel: Firstly, the student must have complete clarity about what course content they need to learn and what exam technique they need to use to get them the maximum marks. Secondly, students must feel interested in, and connected to, the course content they are learning. My own enjoyment of my studies allowed me to get a First in my degree and to attain 297/300 in my Psychology A-Level and 295/300 in my Politics A-Level, and so I always work to foster a real connection between students and what they are learning. Lastly, my experience of working as a Child and Adolescent psychotherapist also informs my approach to tutoring. I believe that child development and emotional factors like anxiety can really affect how well a student is doing. I have seen many times that if these difficulties can be understood, the barriers to a student`s success can be removed.

You are the director of your tuition. While following the curriculum/exam board is paramount, getting where you want to be starts by meeting you where you are. I strongly encourage students to be self-reflective and think about what areas they find most challenging. This is helpful in determining how to structure the exam and lesson content in a direction that is going to challenge and strengthen the target areas. Most of all, I want my students to thrive and leave class knowing or feeling confident about something new. My learning style is all about you. You should be the director of your education and needs. While following the curriculum is paramount, my philosophy is about meeting my students where they are at academically and working towards where they would like to be. From flashcards to worksheets, I create bespoke resources that are tailor-made to your lessons. My tuition is student-driven; we build a plan together based on your learning style and expectations. Your first lesson will be a needs analysis where we discuss the direction of your tuition and build rapport for an effective learning environment. Finally, I'm a good teacher because I am an enthusiastic learner, I am an avid reader and currently learning two languages myself - French and Spanish, so I understand what's like being a language student too. I care about my students and I am invested in their growth as students and confident learners. Most importantly, I love what I do, so if you want enthusiastic teaching, engaging and professional lessons, let's get started today!

Hi! My name is Mika, and I am a professional tutor & education consultant. I am a graduate of Oxford University & the Sorbonne University in French and Philosophy with Highly Commended Awards won in the Oriel College Lloyd Davies Philosophy Prize and the Oxford University French Film Competition. I worked as supplementary tutor for the Ethics and Modernist Literature classes at the Exeter College (Oxford) International Summer School 2022. I worked as a tutor specialising in the Oxbridge undergraduate admissions process, and successfully tutored students through the admissions process for Oriental Studies (Mandarin), MFL (French and Spanish), and English from 2019 - 2021. From 2020 - 2022, I worked as an EFL tutor for international students aged 4-10. I provided tutoring to GCSE French & Spanish students as an A level student from 2016 - 2018, and worked as a Teaching Assistant on a six-month part-time placement in 2017. I was also trained as a Peer Supporter for the Exeter College, Oxford undergraduate community and fulfilled the role from 2019 - 2021. I am keenly aware of the fact that each individual student has different educational needs in order to thrive academically, and I am committed to creating an encouraging and engaging environment for them to do so. I have a 'no stupid questions' policy - young people in education should feel encouraged to experiment and find their strengths and weaknesses without feeling limited, which in turn opens the door to significant improvement in their work. I encourage students to develop an effective and healthy ability to self-evaluate, and to develop the tools to improve. I am also sensitive to the effects of neurodivergence and mental health issues on students’ educational needs, and I am very happy to tailor my tutoring to this to ensure that they get the most out of their tutoring.

I have been working with young people for over 4 years now and have gained a well rounded portfolio of experience. I have been grateful to receive wonderful feedback from students, parents and colleagues! I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol with a BSc in psychology & philosophy. I worked at a TEFL Language school where I designed a cultural programme for students and was the chief point of contact as a mentor. Additionally, I worked in the SEN department at a London secondary school supporting students with all Key Stages including A Level & IB. I have worked with students who have aspergers, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, sight-impairment and physical disability’s. A few examples of previous tutoring jobs: - Mentored a teenager over an 8 month period. - Tutored full time for the past 3 years as a subject generalist with an emphasis on the arts and humanities subjects. I have taught the core KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 syllabuses. Covering all subjects such as art, philosophy, psychology, history, english literature & language, maths, chemistry, biology, physics. I have also done A level and IB tuition for subjects such as history, philosophy, english, art and psychology. - I have worked full time as a home school tutor teaching the core subjects, arts & humanities for ages 5, 7, 9, 11 & 14. - I homeschooled two brothers from a high profile family and prepared them for the English curriculum (from the American system). I taught english literature & language , R.E, art, politics and current affairs, textiles and took them on educational excursions. They also had to pass school entrance exams 11+, 13+, both successfully. - I homeschooled two sisters ages 7 & 9 and taught all the core subjects as well the arts and humanities. I prepared the youngest for her 7 + exams which she successfully passed. My students have gone on to excel in many subjects but especially creative writing and critical thinking. One student of mine was refusing to write at his previous school but after a year of working together he gained entrance to a top London school and is now currently the top of his class for English and is particularly confident with his creative writing. Another student of mine has gone on to win poetry competitions. My teaching style is engaging, innovative and supportive. I try to instill confidence and academic curiosity in my students, as I believe this is equally important to achieving top marks. * Fun fact about me: I paint professionally and pursue writing when I’m not tutoring. I am now keen to take on more students and would love the opportunity to work with you! Once we have been in touch and established something my response time will be very rapid. However because I am very busy it might initially take a little longer to respond so I'm sorry for that! Should be worth the wait though.

What is the difference between ADD/ADHD?

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is categorised by two behaviours: attention deficit (lack of attention) and hyperactivity (lack of self-control). Most children are diagnosed with ADHD between the ages of 7 and 13. ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) describes the behaviour of those with lack of attention, concentration and focus. The main difference between ADD/ADHD is that there are no signs of hyperactivity or restlessness in people with ADD.

How to help a child with ADHD in school?

Children and students with ADHD might need more educational support. Hiring an online tutor can give your child 1:1 assistance to ensure they understand tricky topics and meet their grades. Our private tutors have a wealth of experience in teaching children with ADHD. They create personalised plans that best suit how to help your child.

How to tutor online

Students with ADHD may find learning in a classroom more distracting. That's why the online learning environment can be more intuitive and beneficial. If you're wondering how to tutor online, we recommend finding the right platform and resources. Our e-learning platform gives you feedback and allows you to record sessions. This means that you can monitor your progress across different subjects over time. This makes education more interactive and enjoyable than at school.

Looking for effective ADHD teaching strategies?

ADHD and ADD are neurodevelopmental disorders affecting 2% of the population. Unfortunately, this disorder can cause learning difficulties and behavioural problems, which can lead to lower grades, poor school performance and sometimes expulsion. This is due to the lack of effective ADHD teaching strategies failing the education system.

Teaching students with ADHD is difficult as school's are strained for resources. With one teacher per 30 pupils, it's virtually impossible to give every individual the support they deserve — much less for students with learning difficulties. There is a lot of stigma around ADHD and how this affects other kids in classrooms. This makes it harder for students with learning difficulties to meet their grades and expectations.

At Tutor House, we understand how difficult it can be to find effective learning support. That's why our private tutors are qualified and hand-picked with the best ADHD teaching strategies. If you're looking for 1:1 assistance to help boost your child's confidence and grades at school — look no further!

Finding a private tutor with the necessary skills and experience to support students with ADHD is our speciality. We take away the hard part and match you with your perfect tutor. Whether you need to find someone who creates fun activities for children with ADHD, or just need an extra boost to master GCSE and A-Level exams, you're in the right place.

We have a tutor for everyone and anyone, from primary to degree-level education. So call today and book your Free Online Trial with an expert. Give yourself the opportunity to thrive!

Estelle H

Common Entrance

Estelle has managed to help with the academic improvement of Cameron’s English skills with excellent success in his 11+. Her calm attitude and straight forward approach allows children to fully understand the subject in an easy manner with an organised structure to her teaching methods. She’s also trained in how to appropriately converse with SEN children — a skill which I initially struggled to find in my search for the right tutor.

Matthew H

Maths

My family lives overseas. My son has applied to a school in the UK for his GCSE education. We found Matthew via Tutor House and had several 2 hours sessions with him over a month to prepare for the entrance exams. Matthew was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was well prepared and patient. We just learned today that my son passed the entrance test 'with high grades'. We believe Matthew was a big help.
