What is Film Studies?
Film Studies is the theoretical and practical study of film. Film Studies students will explore the history of cinema, it's cultural impact, the various practices employed in filmmaking and critical approaches to watching films. Some schools offer Film Studies as a GCSE or A Level, but most people will take Film Studies as an undergraduate or Masters degree.
What can you do with a Film Studies degree?
Many students who take a Film Studies degree will be looking to go into filmmaking, whether that's feature films, documentary, short films or television. A Film Studies degree will teach you about the practical and theoretical sides of filmmaking, so you could follow film theory and become a film critic or follow the practical side and become a director or producer.
