The Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT), originally a standardised exam coordinated by the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER), is now a requirement for many graduate entry Medicine courses in the UK and abroad. Using a marking system known as ‘item response theory’ results are calculated and placed and ranked on a percentile curve. As just the start of a degree in Medicine, it’s important that you get the right support needed to perform well on the day of your GAMSAT.
UK universities that require candidates to take the GAMSAT include (but are not limited to):
- Cardiff University
- Swansea University Keele
- University of Plymouth University
- University of Exeter
- University of Liverpool St George’s
- University of London
- University of Nottingham
- University of St. Andrews
- University of Dundee
- University Glasgow
Each university will produce its own minimum overall score, which changes slightly every year. Being one of 2 options for GEM (Graduate Entry Medicine), the other being the UKCAT, GAMSAT requires very different and specific preparation.
For this, we recommend booking lessons with our highly qualified and experienced GAMSAT tutors available to guide you through your exam prep all from the comfort of your own home.
The Test is 6 hours in total and contains 3 sections containing a mixture of multiple choice and essay-style answers. With the high pressure based on this 6-hour long test, don’t let yourself be underprepared for the big day and make sure you invest in a GAMSAT tutor to ensure you get the results you need to succeed.

Dr David M
GAMSAT TutorDavid has been a really brilliant tutor. Not only is he experienced and knowledgable but he is also a thoroughly enjoyable person to work with. He also has excellent resources and teaching aids in order to make the most out of every session. David tutored me for the GAMSAT exam which I passed first time (and it is a really difficult exam). I would highly recommend.
