*Please message me to request a booking as my timetable is changeable and across different platforms so is not always updated on here* Hello, I'm Marie from Oxford, UK. I'm a professional teacher, private tutor, University Lecturer and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Trainer. My specialist subjects include Business, Marketing, English Language, Media Studies and Sociology, including coursework and exam support, and proofreading / editing assignments. I'm also a qualified English teacher, and have recently been tutoring students to prepare them for their 11+, 13+, GCSEs, A-Levels and IELTS exams, as well as delivering a complete primary homeschooling programme. In my career so far, I've been lucky enough to work with some fantastic education institutions including Universities and Colleges in Oxford, India and China. I've delivered professional development training to teachers and professional staff from many different countries, and my work has seen me travel to many places such as Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Malta and Kurdistan. I've also worked as a travelling Governess, accompanying families as they move locations, ensuring continuity and dependable tuition with excellent success rates. I am passionate about helping my students and clients achieve their goals through education, and I'm equally as happy delivering bespoke training sessions to large groups of staff, teaching a University course, or getting a call from an individual student telling me they've achieved the grade they needed that we worked on in their private study sessions. Before I retrained as a teacher, I worked as a Marketing Manager and Project Manager for a University in Oxford, and these skills and responsibilities have helped to shape my adaptable teaching style and capabilities. I would love to hear from you and find out about your training and education needs, and let's achieve your goals, together.

Teaching Experience Maxim has tutored since graduating from Oxford in 2019. He has delivered over 1000 hours of tutoring, a testament to his commitment and dedication. In 2022, one of Maxim's students scored an A* in A-Level Politics, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. His students regularly gain top grades in A-levels and coursework. In 2021, both long-term Politics students got their desired grades and went to their dream universities. Maxim has experience across the Humanities, including various A-Level Politics syllabi and exam boards. The Oxbridge tutorial system (going through essays forensically and discussing them in depth) is central to Maxim's tutoring. These were, in his own words, "the best years of my life, with a learning experience I'm keen to share." Testimonials “The amount of history and your ability to create a timeline in order to help me learn the syllabus, although (it) may seem like common sense, makes the course much easier to understand thanks to you.” Andreas (A-Level Politics student) “Maxim tutored our son regularly throughout his A level Politics course. He was awarded an A* in his exam. Maxim has extensive background knowledge about the subject, exam technique and offers patience and persistence. Our son said he misses the sessions now the exams are over, which is a real endorsement. I would thoroughly recommend Maxim.” Jane (parent of former Politics student) Maxim has helped several students achieve places at top tier schools like Westminster, Highgate, South Hampstead, University College School, Wetherby, and Latimer. He spent three years at Trinity College, Oxford reading History and Politics. At Oxford, Maxim focused on British and international politics, achieving high marks in International Relations and US Politics. While a student, Maxim also appeared on University Challenge and was twice an elected member of the Oxford Union's governing body. Maxim got three A grades at A-Level, notching up 100% in UK Politics with additional success in US Politics. Maxim received offers from LSE and Warwick along with Oxford.

Hi! I graduated from the University of Warwick with a BSc. in 2024, and from the International Baccalaureate in July of 2021, with 43/45 points and Higher Levels in Mathematics, Physics and Economics. My Standard Level subjects were Psychology, English and French. I have over three years and 1500+ hours of in-person and virtual teaching experience, and have mentored hundreds of students in that time. I am proficient in multiple subjects across their AP, GCSE, A-level, IB and international equivalents. Whenever I mentor someone, I try and take a hands-on approach, pacing the material appropriately and answering questions in the process. I'm proficient in a range of digital teaching tools, and am more than willing to adapt to new ones. I'm also extremely attentive to my learners, and try and tailor my teaching methodologies to their individual requirements. Outside of teaching, I love reading, writing and playing the guitar:)

So you're stressed and agonising over that essay you can't write, or that text you can't get your head around? And you have an exam on the way! Maybe you've taken the exam already and didn't quite get the results you wanted. It can be daunting to say the least. But that's where I can help you. While still at school, I tutored some of the younger students and saw real progress and their grades, skills and self-esteem. It's a process I've been developing ever since. After graduating as an actor from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a 1st, I spent 5 years working extensively in all levels of the education system, from School Students all the way up to Consultant Doctors. The one thing all of the people I mentor or tutor say again and again is "I never saw it like that" and that's crucial to what I offer. My focus has always been on taking seemingly abstract, complex and confusing material and making it accessible using my unusual slant on things. And I can use this to help you overcome the obstacles in your way. I teach seminars regularly with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust using a text to explore essay technique, thematic ideas and language. I regularly coach students and professionals to develop communication, problem solving and leadership. All while building their confidence with a given skill. My approach is tailored to the individual, and is therefore flexible to suit their needs. But central to it are the following criteria: - Building core competencies relative to the subject: Essay writing, objective analytics, attention to details and how to expand on them. - Identifying obstacles specific to the student. Using coaching techniques, tasks and conversation to help them overcome it. - Exploring alternative view points and helping to develop a wider understanding of the material in context. - Building confidence and competency in bringing knowledge and skills to the subject in question. - Basic exam technique, focus and stress-relief to help think analytically under pressure. - Public speaking, presentation skills and ownership of the text if required for a public speaking role. Outside of the tutoring world my hobbies ( as you might have guessed) include theatre. But I've also developed a bizarre love of gardening, and no I've moved to a big city, I'm really looking forward to the challenge of growing vegetables on my window sill!

I'm a History tutor with 5+ years of experience. I am an Oxford graduate, who read Ancient and Modern History at BA level. This niche course took an incredibly broad view of history, allowing me to study such disparate subjects as Alexander the Great and his early successors (333-302BC), and modern non-state actors in Mexico (2006-2014). As such, I have experience in engaging not only with history (as it is traditionally conceived) at a high academic level, but with classics and international politics as well. I received a high 2:1 in my finals, despite the difficulties caused by sitting the exams during the coronavirus pandemic, and attained a strong 1st (72) in my thesis, which might be considered a more representative statement on my attainment, as it was submitted prior to the crisis reaching tipping-point in the UK. At A-Level I had an unusually scientific background, taking History (A), Biology (A*) and Maths (A), whilst achieving an A in AS Physics. Outside of more formal studies, I also read an extensive amount of 20th century classic literature and philosophy, and am teaching myself Spanish. On top of this, I competed in Blues Gymnastics while at Oxford, have a black belt in karate, and travel as much as possible (with an especial focus on the middle east). As I hope all this indicates, I have a broad range of interests which inform a holistic approach to education and suggest a genuinely inquisitive and engaging nature. I look forward to encouraging my love of learning in others, as well helping them to understand the material they are studying.

Hi! I'm David, a student at the University of Edinburgh. I love reading, cooking, swimming, and playing the piano. I have two years of experience in tutoring, as I spearheaded a volunteering program during my last two years of high school to tutor kids in a wide array of subjects. Therefore, I am trained to tutor in most high school subjects, although I am best at tutoring science subjects (biology, chemistry, and mathematics.) I am always open to new ideas and different methods of teaching in order to provide the best experience for my tutees. I look forward to helping as much as possible, so contact me in order to set up a free trial session, so that we can establish learning goals and design a strategy to achieve them.

I earned my PhD in Classics many years ago, but all the while I have been teaching the subject I have continued to pursue it as a student. I have a great love of the classics. I've previously been the head of the Classics department at Queen's Gate School where I taught all Classical subjects -- Latin, Ancient Greek Ancient History and Classical Civilisation -- at all levels. I also helped students prepare for the Common Entrance examinations in Latin and Ancient Greek. I have tutored students individually over many years, including online in many different subjects including English, History and Philosophy. I walk my dog twice a day and have a keen interest in the sport of horse racing. Whether it's improving your grades or getting the most out of your studies, I'd love to help!

Hi, I'm Aleysha - a History tutor and a recent History graduate from the University of Oxford, graduating with First Class Honours. I can provide tutoring for History GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate. I also provide tutoring for personal statement writing (general), essay writing skills (general) and Oxbridge interview preparation. I am an academic and admissions tutor for voluntary organisation The Oxbridge Launchpad, and I help students with Oxbridge admissions and subject-specific tutoring. I am also an academic tutor and I have helped students excel in their History IB, A Level and GCSE. My students have gone on to achieve top grades and have a high Oxbridge acceptance rate. My approach to tutoring includes fostering independent thought. I develop students' pre-existing knowledge base further, providing them with insights outside the curriculum that will impress examiners. I also help students create essay plans and give them effective advice on exam techniques to help them approach exam questions. I also believe in the importance of providing balanced and objective feedback; feedback should never be overly critical and I strongly believe every student has something important to say. I will guide students to ensure their arguments are well substantiated. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to book a lesson!

I am a graduate from Trinity College, Cambridge, having achieved my Bachelors degree in History (2:1). I am currently based in London, undertaking a Master's degree at the Royal College of Art (School of Fine Art and Humanities) I have a wide and varied experience with students of all ages and abilities and have spent time working in both primary and secondary schools. My main aim is always to help students find an interest in their subject, which leads to them translating this interest through their examinations. My specialism lies in Medieval and Early Modern History, however, I am very well equipped to help students with any written work that their course may demand (including GCSE, AS and A2 coursework). I also have experience with certain modern historical periods and have been assisting students with theses periods for some time. I also offer Oxbridge tutoring, help with Personal Statements, UCAS support and exam technique help. Further, I also offer help with Fine Art, a subject I fell in love with at the early age and am currently studying at the Royal College of Art. I completed my Masters degree at the University of the Arts London last year, achieving a Merit. I specialise in Oxbridge interviews and entrance exams, and am well versed with the Cambridge University HAA exam. I believe that my enthusiasm and experience, coupled with my academic ability enables me to be an able tutor.

I have been working with young people for over 4 years now and have gained a well rounded portfolio of experience. I have been grateful to receive wonderful feedback from students, parents and colleagues! I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol with a BSc in psychology & philosophy. I worked at a TEFL Language school where I designed a cultural programme for students and was the chief point of contact as a mentor. Additionally, I worked in the SEN department at a London secondary school supporting students with all Key Stages including A Level & IB. I have worked with students who have aspergers, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, sight-impairment and physical disability’s. A few examples of previous tutoring jobs: - Mentored a teenager over an 8 month period. - Tutored full time for the past 3 years as a subject generalist with an emphasis on the arts and humanities subjects. I have taught the core KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 syllabuses. Covering all subjects such as art, philosophy, psychology, history, english literature & language, maths, chemistry, biology, physics. I have also done A level and IB tuition for subjects such as history, philosophy, english, art and psychology. - I have worked full time as a home school tutor teaching the core subjects, arts & humanities for ages 5, 7, 9, 11 & 14. - I homeschooled two brothers from a high profile family and prepared them for the English curriculum (from the American system). I taught english literature & language , R.E, art, politics and current affairs, textiles and took them on educational excursions. They also had to pass school entrance exams 11+, 13+, both successfully. - I homeschooled two sisters ages 7 & 9 and taught all the core subjects as well the arts and humanities. I prepared the youngest for her 7 + exams which she successfully passed. My students have gone on to excel in many subjects but especially creative writing and critical thinking. One student of mine was refusing to write at his previous school but after a year of working together he gained entrance to a top London school and is now currently the top of his class for English and is particularly confident with his creative writing. Another student of mine has gone on to win poetry competitions. My teaching style is engaging, innovative and supportive. I try to instill confidence and academic curiosity in my students, as I believe this is equally important to achieving top marks. * Fun fact about me: I paint professionally and pursue writing when I’m not tutoring. I am now keen to take on more students and would love the opportunity to work with you! Once we have been in touch and established something my response time will be very rapid. However because I am very busy it might initially take a little longer to respond so I'm sorry for that! Should be worth the wait though.

What is IB History?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) History course is an academically challenging qualification. It prepares students academically for the rigour of A Level, Pre-U and university study. IB History is a wide reaching view of world History, taking into account politics, economics and culture.

How do I study for IB History?

History can be a tough subject to revise for, as there's so much content to learn. You need to make sure you understand the chronology and facts for each topic. It's also important to be able to write a strong essay plan, and be able to write one quickly!

Is History tutoring worth it?

For a content heavy subject like History, it can be a great idea to hire a tutor who's a specialist in the subject. Our tutors are History graduates and History teachers, who have been through the IB exams themselves or coached hundreds of students through the process.

Find an IB History Tutor

The International Baccalaureate helps students prepare for University and beyond with an in-depth study of History. Students study the political, social, economic and cultural aspects of History to gain a well-rounded understanding of the world. Studying History helps us to understand the perspectives of different people and cultures, creating students who are understanding of other people and their own place in the world.
