Film and Media expert offering support across a number of subjects, including maths and English. I'm an active film producer and film theorist who takes on some private tutoring work on the side. As such, I tend to only have one or two clients at a time, meaning my time with you is focused and catered towards your individual needs. I started my career in film after completing an undergraduate degree in Media Production at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Before graduating, I was already working in film production offices in the city and delivering work which won awards globally, including a BAFTA nominated feature film, I Am Nasrine (2012, dir Tina Gharavi). My experience has also seen me working with the delivery teams as part of large British film festivals, including Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest and now London Short Film Festival. Over the last 3 years I have supplemented this work by offering my services as a tutor, specialising in media studies and film. I have worked with private clients of all ages: either to support a young learner in their understanding of filmmaking skills, film history or perhaps the basics of animation, to augment a college or academy application; or working with adult learners, delivering more targeted sessions on specifics such as video editing, script writing or project management. Now based in South London, and shortly to complete an MA in Film & Screen Studies from Goldsmiths University of London, I am keen to share my expertise with new clients via Tutor House. I'm happy to discuss possibilities and opportunities with anyone whose curious to know more, and create a tuition plan which works best for you

Teaching Experience Maxim has tutored since graduating from Oxford in 2019. He has delivered over 1000 hours of tutoring, a testament to his commitment and dedication. In 2022, one of Maxim's students scored an A* in A-Level Politics, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. His students regularly gain top grades in A-levels and coursework. In 2021, both long-term Politics students got their desired grades and went to their dream universities. Maxim has experience across the Humanities, including various A-Level Politics syllabi and exam boards. The Oxbridge tutorial system (going through essays forensically and discussing them in depth) is central to Maxim's tutoring. These were, in his own words, "the best years of my life, with a learning experience I'm keen to share." Testimonials “The amount of history and your ability to create a timeline in order to help me learn the syllabus, although (it) may seem like common sense, makes the course much easier to understand thanks to you.” Andreas (A-Level Politics student) “Maxim tutored our son regularly throughout his A level Politics course. He was awarded an A* in his exam. Maxim has extensive background knowledge about the subject, exam technique and offers patience and persistence. Our son said he misses the sessions now the exams are over, which is a real endorsement. I would thoroughly recommend Maxim.” Jane (parent of former Politics student) Bio Maxim is a Masters student in London, studying Broadcast Journalism. Before that, he spent two years working exclusively as a freelance History and Politics tutor. He spent three years at Trinity College, Oxford reading History and Politics. At Oxford, Maxim focused on British and international politics, achieving high marks in International Relations and US Politics. While a student, Maxim also appeared on University Challenge and was twice an elected member of the Oxford Union's governing body. Maxim got three A grades at A-Level, notching up 100% in UK Politics with additional success in US Politics. Maxim received offers from LSE and Warwick along with Oxford.

I am an engaging and proactive personal tutor with 12 years of experience in tutoring English, Drama, and Creative Writing. I work with GCSE, A-Level and undergraduate students, predominantly on their English Literature studies I adapt every session to the specific needs of the student and ensure that each lesson is successful in obtaining their personal goals. In Literature tuition, we will focus on analytical skills and essay writing (considering structure, context, and critical analysis). We will also compile a revision portfolio, which greatly aids the student when preparing for their exams, allowing them to review their work in a clear, compartmentalized, and accessible manner. For many years, I worked as a school tutor with students from year 2 to year 13. This has provided me with a strong and comprehensive understanding of academic demands and the school curriculum. Additionally, I have experience teaching KS1 and KS2 subjects and have extensive experience working with SEN students. I hold a Masters Degree in Creative Writing and have led many writer's workshops for young people. I run a theatre company in London and have taught workshops and classes with drama students, varying in age from 9 to 19. I am a positive, reliable, supportive, and fun teacher who works hard to ensure that each student is able to learn in an enjoyable and accessible manner.

I'm a professional teacher, private tutor, University Lecturer and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Trainer. I am passionate about helping my students and clients achieve their goals through education, and I'm equally as happy delivering bespoke training sessions to large groups of staff, teaching a University course, or getting a call from an individual student telling me they've achieved the grade they needed that we worked on in their private study sessions. Before I retrained as a teacher, I worked as a Marketing Manager and Project Manager for a University in Oxford, and these skills and responsibilities have helped to shape my adaptable teaching style and capabilities. I would love to hear from you and find out about your training and education needs, and let's achieve your goals, together.

Hello! I have experience with one-on-one tuition across the humanities, with a specialty in English language and literature. I have helped students tackle GCSE exam preparation to proof-reading degree dissertations to helping adults with developmental disabilities write fiction. I would be thrilled to help you, too. I am able to support SEN students across a range of areas, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, aspergers, ADHD and more. Whether it's specific help needed on a set text or guidance required for exam technique, I am here to work with you to improve your grades! I am a filmmaker and fiction writer so I am very happy to provide help with creative writing and general writing skills, too. I have been a teaching assistant for graduate-level classes at Columbia University in the United States, helping students to hone their writing and editing skills. I received a BA from Bristol University in English Literature and a master's from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where I was a Pulitzer Fellow, awarded to the top five students in a cohort of 250. Apart from my teaching experience, I have worked for an HBO documentary show in New York, made award-winning documentaries and narrative short films, worked on the arts desk at The Daily Telegraph newspaper in London and as a reporter at The Tibet Post in northern India. I have written about films for GQ and HuffPost, and my fiction is published in The Stinging Fly, an Irish literary magazine. In my spare time, I love to read (anything and everything, with a preference for American fiction), watch films, spend time in nature, meditate and cook for family and friends. I also love animals, and have a 10-year-old cat named Stevie. I look forward to working together!

I’m a creative person, and along with my academic work history I previously studied film and worked in the industry for several years. Whilst I started off teaching A-Level and BTEC film and media, for the last 13 years I have tutored hundreds of students across a range A-Level, BTEC, Undergrad and Postgrad courses, many of which have been diagnosed with dyslexia or special educational needs. Having previously lived and worked in Amsterdam I also have experience of the IB programme in areas including Essay Writing and Presentation, University Mentoring, Revision Techniques, English A – Literature, Creative Writing, Personal Statements, Applications and Re-Sits. I'm very flexible in terms of availability, tailor all my sessions to meet the needs of each individual student and always try to make the experience fun, which I believe really helps productivity. I've had the great pleasure of seeing my students truly develop both academically and in their self confidence, frequently achieving grades far beyond predicted outcomes.

Hi, I've had a multitude of clients with Tutor companies and also working in Learning and Mentoring support within schools, mainly with children with social and behavioural issues and with Aspergers Syndrome - who often have massively high intelligence levels but have trouble focusing that intelligence to achieve a high grade. I've worked with Law, Philosophy, Media Studies, and History students at A and University levels. I think with the majority of social science based approaches the key to tutoring is enhancing analytical abilities and moving beyond basic analysis to a more critical approach that also synthesises research alongside original ideas. In terms of information about myself, I have in the past worked at the Selby Centre in Tottenham and at Roots of Empathy, a non-profit organisation that attempts to increase social and emotional literacy among school children as a Curriculum Assistant. I have also worked with many vulnerable people - by ways of a Refugee Caseworker. I am passionate about social justice, poetry and reading and literature, as well as politics and the political landscape in London - particularly in issues of social inclusion.

Are you thinking about getting an Media Studies A-Level tutor?

Media Studies A-level offers students the opportunity to learn valuable skills in analysis, communication, critical thinking, and more. It is a truly contemporary subject, as media is intertwined with everything we do in the 21st century. Media Studies improves literacy skills and students’ ability in other subjects. Many students approach Media Studies with greater enthusiasm, happy to write a detailed critique of a film in a way they wouldn’t be so happy to do for a piece of Victorian literature.

Although it has gained some bad press in the past as a ‘soft option’ however since 2017 has undergone a ‘revamp’ and now is heavily theory-based and should not be disregarded in favour of other subjects. Furthermore, it is a genuinely vocational subject giving students the chance to write their own newspapers, setting up websites, making their own films and more. As a very involved subject, it is important to get the educational support you need to perform to the best of your ability in both your AS and A2 level exams. This is particularly vital if you do plan to take the subject further onto university education.

There is quite a jump from GCSE to A-level and an even bigger leap from there to university. Booking a Media Studies tutor can smooth the way between these educational steps and help you achieve the results that you need to succeed. Investing in a Media Studies tutor is the best way to ensure that you get the results you both want and need at A-level.

Top results are now more important than ever as the job market becomes even more competitive and universities are steadily raising the conditions for entry. Don't compromise on your education and settle for a lesser university or a course you don’t love simply because the grade expectations are lower. Make sure you push yourself at this final stage of your school education and get the tuition support you need to succeed in your A-level Media Studies exams. With our personalised and tailored approach, our tutors are ready and able to help you achieve the highest results possible. We recommend finding a tutor 9-12 months before your first exams.

Once booked our tutors will talk you through your learning process and make sure you are well prepared ahead of your Media Studies A-level exam. With our personalised and tailored approach, our tutors are ready and able to help you achieve the highest result possible. Top grades do open doors whether that be into high ranking universities, traineeships, internships, or apprenticeships. Don’t let someone else get the upper hand on a place that you want simply because they have higher grades than you. So why not explore the amazing selection of Media Studies A-level tutors we have to offer today.
