I started my career in film after completing an undergraduate degree in Media Production at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Before graduating, I was already working in film production offices in the city and delivering work which won awards globally, including a BAFTA nominated feature film, I Am Nasrine (2012, dir Tina Gharavi).

Before my role at the university was made full time I was able to volunteer with the charity Beanstalk as a Reading 321 Helper, supporting three children twice weekly to improve their literacy. These were children in Primary School who had been identified as being behind with their reading skills. I have also been involved with The Girls Network Mentoring Scheme. For two years I taught English and Maths with 'The Complete Works' to secondary school aged students who were not in mainstream education, often working with children with SEN and behavioural issues. I used art and creative processes to engage the students in learning which in turn would alter their mind-set of education and push their boundaries of what they thought they could achieve.
