My name is Joana Massana and I'm Portuguese but I've been living in the UK since 06/2016. In 2015, while in University, I worked as a volunteer in an association providing support for children and young adults with learning disabilities and autism. There, I did different activities, including helping them to do their homework and to prepare for tests and exams. And before that, I had given private lessons for children and teenagers in different subjects. I think this experience allowed me to develop skills needed to support people and made me see the world differently in regards to how to look at people, make myself more caring, empathetic and thoughtful, I understood how important it is to put their needs first, assist them in benefiting from education and enable them to develop their skills. I believe that my passion for people and my knowledge would help me to be a good tutor, taking into consideration that every student is different and has different capacities, goals and passions for what they are doing/learning. I have a real passion for languages and travel and feel that this is reflected in my teaching. I love sports, particularly rugby and football (both watching and playing). Learning languages and feeling confident expressing myself in English has opened so many doors for me, both professionally and personally. Since graduating in German and Hispanic Studies from the University of Nottingham (2:1 with distinction in Spanish) five years ago, I have been lucky enough to live and work around the world. I am a polyglot, having learnt over 15 languages to various levels (of which I am at least conversational in 10) and I have an MA in French and Italian from the University of Cambridge.
