My name is Joana Massana and I'm Portuguese but I've been living in the UK since 06/2016. I’m working presently as a Teacher Assistant in some schools (as an Agency) and I Teach Online as well, so I’m trained to put the others first, to make sure that their needs are satisfied as learners and that I do my best to provide them all the materials and information needed. In 2015, while in University, I worked as a volunteer in an association providing support for children and young adults with learning disabilities and autism. There, I did different activities, including helping them to do their homework and to prepare for tests and exams. And before that, I had given private lessons for children and teenagers in different subjects. I think this experience allowed me to develop skills needed to support people and made me see the world differently in regards to how to look at people, make myself more caring, empathetic and thoughtful, I understood how important it is to put their needs first, assist them in benefiting from education and enable them to develop their skills. I believe that my passion for people and my knowledge would help me to be a good tutor, taking into consideration that every student is different and has different capacities, goals and passions for what they are doing/learning. For me, the best way to learn is "playing", I mean, in a relaxed way, playing some games, doing some exercises, activities, projects, listening and translating music, without any pressure. I have a real passion for languages and travel and feel that this is reflected in my teaching. I love sports, particularly rugby and football (both watching and playing). I am a big reader of both classic and foreign language literature but also a massive film buff. I'm an extremely passionate and experienced tutor. I am a polyglot, having learnt over 15 languages to various levels (of which I am at least conversational in 10) and I have an MA in French and Italian from the University of Cambridge. I'm an undergraduate student at University College London (UCL), currently completing a BA in Comparative Literature. In the past, I have helped my students prepare for the DELE Diploma, the official Spanish proficiency exam, in which they achieved top grades.
