I am currently a business lecture at UCB , however, I have experience of teaching primary, secondary, 11 plus and assignment support at HE level. Teaching has always been a passion and I am extremely dedicated to my job role. I enjoy all types of teaching and have taught all ages and in all types of environments. Alongside teaching English, maths, and science, etc, I also like to focus on the child’s holistic development which I believe is pivotal. I also do private tutoring online on one to one basis and group sessions. I like to teach my children through joyful interaction which assists them in reaching their full potential and achieving above and beyond their level of expectations. I have seen dramatic improvements from children who started off with very little or no English-speaking skills at all in becoming the highest achievers, furthermore, receiving recognition and awards in their educational institutions. I am very soft-hearted towards the children I teach, nevertheless, this does not mean that they can get away with not completing their studies. I am extremely flexible and can easily adapt quickly to new situations. You will find me highly empathic towards the children and very understanding, regardless of their age. All people big or small should be treated with the utmost respect. I do my best to dedicate my spare time to supporting charity events, group talks, and teaching children.

I am an experienced tutor with 10 years of tutoring experience, and I am also a qualified teacher. I have taught maths, chemistry, and physics to A-level and biology up to GCSE. I also tutor iGCSE, I.B, and Pre-U exams for all those mentioned subjects. For the past 4 years, I have run retake courses at A-level, improving student's grades, and providing one-on-one online lessons focussed on matching the students’ specific academic requirements to help them reach their full potential. This has resulted in students improving their grades from D’s and C’s to A’s/A*s. I studied for my PGCE at UCL with a specialism in Physics and Maths and I taught in both the private and state education sectors before becoming a full-time tutor. I am a patient teacher who has worked with children of varying abilities with the objective of giving them the confidence to apply themselves to subjects that they may have found difficult in the past. I have a friendly, understanding disposition which puts the student at ease and helps to make their lessons something to look forward to rather than a chore. I am available during weekday evenings during term time and have some limited slots within the day. During the holidays I work weekdays.

I am a fully Qualified Secondary School Teacher (Dip. Ed. UNSW, Sydney Australia, 2011 - Science) and I am an accredited secondary school teacher in New South Wales, Australia. Over the last 15 years, I have been involved in classroom teaching (after 2019) and private tuition (2008-2019) in the areas of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics for Exam/College Preparation as well as University Level Courses. I have experience in the UK (GCSE/iGCSE & A-Levels - AQA, Edexcel, OCR exam boards), the International Baccalaureate curriculum in Physics (SL/HL) and Mathematics (SL/HL including the new curriculum), the Australian HSC (Year 11 & 12) School System as well as Oxbridge Admission tests (PAT/STEP/MAT/ENGAA). From the USA Curriculum, I am quite familiar with the AP AB and BC Calculus and AP Physics 1, 2, and C. I also have experience in the USA College/Universities Admission tests, such as the GRE Subject Tests (Physics and Mathematics) preparation as well as SAT and GMAT (Math/Quantitative/Analytic sections). Employment Summary I am currently a full-time Mathematics Specialist at ONCAMPUS, University of Southampton. ONCAMPUS teach pre-university programmes leading to a wide range of undergraduate and Master's degrees at leading universities across the UK, USA and mainland Europe. My most recent assignment was as Physics Lecturer at the Immerse Education Summer Academic Program at Queens College, University of Cambridge. This is a pre-university programme designed to facilitate engaged and motivated students to explore their subject in greater depth, providing them with insight into what it is like to study advanced content within their subject area at Oxbridge Universities. During the period from January to June of 2023, I was a Math and Physics teacher at Northridge School, Mexico City, Mexico (US curriculum). That assignment entailed both teaching in middle school (grades 7,8 ) and high school (grades 10, 11). Prior to this position (academic year 2022-23), I was a Math Teacher at the program “Swiss Semester”, Zermatt Switzerland (following US curriculum) and prior to that, I was a Math Teacher at the University of Brighton International College (on-site) and Kaplan International College London (remote) (GCSE/iGCSE and A-Level curriculum). Before these positions (academic years 2019-22) I was again a math teacher at the Swiss Semester, Zermatt Switzerland (on leave from Kaplan International College London), and I held a teaching position at the Department of Science and Engineering at Kaplan International College London, based at London Bridge, London, UK since August 2019 (GCSE/iGCSE and A-Level curriculum). The program Swiss Semester takes place annually and its duration is only from September to December. Also both Kaplan International College London and University of Brighton College are part of the Kaplan group. Hence the above positions are part of contracts with just two employers. Professional Experience My position at Northridge School, Mexico, included teaching Mathematics at the Middle School (Grades 7 and 8) and High School (Grade 10) as well as High School Physics (Grade 11). The School follows a loose US curriculum. During my six-month tenure at the Northridge School in Mexico, I made significant contributions to the academic environment while facing challenges in terms of student discipline and the school's focus on religious/music and sports activities rather than academics. Despite my dedication and commitment to the role, I made the decision not to extend my contract due to the school's lack of an academically respectable position and my preference for a more balanced academic environment. Additionally, I found myself primarily teaching middle school, which did not align with my initial preferences. Overall, my experience at Northridge School provided valuable insights and reinforced my desire to pursue opportunities that align more closely with my professional goals and interests. My previous position in the Swiss Semester entailed teaching math at the secondary level. The syllabus taught is mainly pre-calculus and Advanced Placement Calculus (also known as AP Calculus AB / BC) is a set of two distinct Advanced Placement Calculus courses and exams offered by the American nonprofit organization College Board. Swiss Semester is a coeducational program of academic, personal, and physical challenge for roughly fifty high school sophomores from the finest independent and public schools in the United States and beyond. Swiss Semester’s campus is Zermatt, Switzerland, an outdoor paradise that epitomizes the security, stability, healthfulness, and natural beauty for which Switzerland is renowned. In regard to the previous teaching role at Kaplan International College London: This role included teaching Pre-Master’s students Statistics, and Foundation Physics, and Mathematics. During the academic year 2019-2020, I was the Pre-Master's Advanced Statistics Module (PM608) coordinator. The module consisted of two intakes: The September Cohort and the January Cohort respectively - The duration of each is 20 weeks apart from some extra 10 weeks where students have to participate in the "Active Learning Weeks" as required by Kaplan. Each Cohort consists of approximately 100 students. Teaching is done in smaller groups of 20-30 students in a collaborative, interactive, "inverted classroom" setup. Each group has three hours of teaching every week on the topic. Over this period, I was in charge of the teaching curriculum, exam preparation, and online and offline content development for this particular course. Apart from the A-Level math courses, I have several teaching hours related to A-Level Physics (equivalent to Year 11, 12 Australian HSC Physics). During this period I taught mostly face-to-face but given the circumstances, a small part of the instruction during the national lockdowns was done online. Apart from the previous role, I am a part-time Private Tutor in Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics. A large part of my work is related to University Level tuition but also the last two grades of High School (exam preparation). Teaching Approach Obviously, apart from the context itself and the expertise in the related fields, there are other essential components of successful teaching like personality, enthusiasm, versatility, appreciation of the importance of outreach, and most important a relation of understanding between the lecturer and the students. Apart from the previous, I think that it is crucial to provide students with a working knowledge of physical systems and to teach them problem-solving skills for building upon this knowledge. Teaching a person to think analytically is at the core of what a student should take away from any science or mathematics course. For students not majoring in physics/math, it is important to teach them how science affects their daily lives and how to make informed decisions about it based on the information available. For physics/math majors it is crucial to teach them the knowledge pertinent to their course of study and how scientists solve difficult problems using approximation, computational, and other quantitative methods. These important tools are invaluable to future researchers because they aid in the careful design of experiments and in determining the predictions of a model or theory. I would also strive to cover a range of topics in my courses. This would enable me to teach an array of different methods for approaching physical problems and to demonstrate how similar approaches can be applied to problems from disparate fields. Furthermore, being a theoretician, I am well suited to teach physics majors how to construct theories and models, to derive predictions from these models, and to test these predictions against empirical data they have collected from the literature or obtained in the laboratory. From my experience, I learned the importance of engaging students through examples and of pitching material at a level that assumes intelligence but not necessarily knowledge, blending the known with the unknown in a combination that gives the student the feeling of possibility rather than that of impossibility that formal and impressive methods may impose. I would also enjoy teaching introductory physics courses. Although it is often challenging to teach introductory students, it is a challenge I thoroughly enjoy. Preparing lectures and solution sets forces me to communicate fundamental ideas in simple terms and to think deeply again about some of the most basic principles in physics and math. During my graduate school period, I had the chance to become familiar with the system of tutorials that some of the British universities offer. This much more personalized system provides the opportunity of outside-of-the-classroom discussion and interaction which are a crucial part of the learning process. Many students who are reserved in class, ask excellent questions in smaller settings and thus, learn much more. I greatly value the instruction and mentorship I received while in college and feel strongly about providing quality education to current and future students. In regards to teaching international students, I am aware and over the years I have used a number of strategies in order to make classroom management and lesson delivery more effective. For example, I always communicate classroom expectations and policies clearly from the beginning of the course. I always try to speak clearly and be concise in my instructions (verbal or written), provide vocabulary at the beginning of a new topic and allow students to use a dictionary and other equipment that would assist them in the learning process. I always encourage students to make use of office hours and make course materials available in print and on the electronic blackboard. Furthermore, I am trying to incorporate opportunities for collaborative learning. Over the years I have become a supporter of the “inverted classroom” approach, especially for the students that are used to a “lecture” type of teaching style or teachers that are distant and authoritative.

***Please confirm the times by messaging me as there is a technical issue on tutor house platform which shows the incorrect availability. I apologise for the inconvenience and I am trying to fix this issue asap. Please message me in the meantime, thank you so much and apologies again*** I am currently pursuing a PhD in Physics at University College London in Quantum Computing, Quantum Information.Prior to this, I have completed MSc in Applied Mathematics and Computing from Imperial College London and an undergraduate degree in Physics from King's College London. My academic journey through some of the UK’s top institutions has provided me with a strong and varied foundation in mathematics and the sciences, equipping me with in-depth knowledge and a solid grasp of these subjects. At A-level, I studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics, which formed the bedrock of my passion for STEM. Over time, I have developed a genuine enthusiasm for helping others achieve their academic goals, sharing both my expertise and my insights from personal experiences. My focus lies in online tutoring for A-level students in Physics, Mathematics, Computing, and Further Mathematics, and I am also available to assist with university entrance exams and assessments, including the Physics Aptitude Test (PAT), the Natural Sciences Admissions Assessment (NSAA), and the Engineering Admissions Assessment (ENGAA). With over six years of tutoring experience, I have honed a teaching style that is flexible, supportive, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. As a tutor with an enhanced DBS check, I am fully certified to work with students and provide a safe, supportive learning environment. I offer both online sessions and, for those nearby, in-person tutoring at my home. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of how to support students effectively through personalized learning. I prioritize identifying the learning style of each student—whether they are auditory, visual, kinesthetic, or intrapersonal learners—and adapting my methods to best suit them. By incorporating these techniques, I help students engage with the material in ways that resonate with them, which not only boosts their understanding but also builds confidence in their abilities. Tutoring Experience I have an enhanced DBS check and have been working as tutor for 6+ years. My approach to tutoring is based on building a solid foundational understanding of each topic before advancing to exam-specific preparation. In our sessions, I start by ensuring that the core concepts are well-understood and that students have a thorough grounding in the subject matter. This may include revisiting fundamental principles and discussing topics in detail, so students develop a comprehensive understanding and can apply their knowledge to complex questions. Once students are confident with the basics, I introduce exam material that progressively challenges them. This dual focus on fundamentals and application ensures that students not only understand the theory but also acquire the skills needed to excel in exams. I place strong emphasis on developing exam techniques, covering time management, question interpretation, and linking knowledge to answer questions accurately and with the appropriate level of detail. In addition to A-level tutoring, I support students who are preparing for university entrance exams in STEM subjects, such as the PAT, NSAA, and ENGAA. With personal experience navigating competitive exams and applications, I offer insights into what these assessments entail and the most effective preparation strategies. I can also assist with personal statements, helping students highlight their strengths, achievements, and genuine interest in their chosen fields to make a compelling case for admission. Currently, I am working on a website designed to help students prepare for A-level Physics and university entrance exams. Drawing from my own experiences and expertise, I aim to create an accessible platform with resources, practice questions, and guides that can support students in reaching their academic goals outside of tutoring sessions. Tutoring Approach I give online tuitions. I base my approach to tutoring after evaluating what type of learner they are, whether that is auditory, visual, kinaesthetic or an intrapersonal learner. I can tailor my teaching to meet their needs. Additionally, my teaching method involves providing a strong foundation on the topics first, then giving suitable exam material to further the understanding of the student, ensuring that they have the skills needed for the exams. I can go through the exam techniques in detail so they can link back what they have learnt to answer questions to appropriate detail. My goal as a tutor is to inspire students and help them unlock their full potential, not only by improving their grades but by fostering a genuine interest in the subjects they study. I am committed to making learning a rewarding experience and guiding students towards academic success with tailored support, proven techniques, and a passionate approach to teaching.

Are you tired of putting so much time and effort in revising but you still can’t seem to get the results? Spending endless hours behind your desk without proper structure, guidance, and continual assessment is pointless. As I approach 2 years of tutoring experience, I have gained the formula which has proven successful in transforming student performance. Not only am I a tutor, I’m a mentor who goes out of my way to ensure every student gets the most out of the time and effort they put in. So, are you ready to benefit from my lessons like many others have already? If so, what are you waiting for! Book a free trial lesson with me now and lets begin your journey on the path to success! A bit about myself: My name is Ihtishaam and I am a Chemical Engineering graduate from Imperial College London. I have a strong proven academic track record. In my A Levels, I studied Maths (A*), Chemistry (A*), Physics (A) & AS Economics (A) and got 10 A*-B in my GCSEs. I have 2 years of online tutoring experience and my greatest achievement so far has been boosting a student's grade from an E to an A in the matter of months! I also have some in-person tutoring experience from tutoring in a tuition centre, working with KS3, GCSE & A Level students in a classroom setting. I tutored 4-5 students at a time in Maths, Physics & Chemistry as I have a strong understanding of these subjects. During this time, I developed many transferable skills that can be applied to my sessions. I grew my communication skills by giving clear explanations to students when teaching them a concept, built a friendly relationship with my students, improved myself at scheduling the session, and developed my problem-solving and mentoring skills when challenged to tackle difficult questions from students. My approach: I was lucky enough to be tutored during my school years, and it helped with my performance in school massively, so I know how important it is to have a great tutor! Every student is different, thus the lessons are personally tailored to cater to the individual needs of each student. For those students who are more independent, they will be supported with any specific problems/weaknesses they have in the subject, along with exam technique so they have the best chances of success on exam day. On the other hand, with students who have fallen behind in class and struggle to grasp the subject in its entirety, they will be handheld in every step by being taught concepts from the bottom up, allowing the student to fill gaps in their knowledge and regain a solid understanding of class material. The lessons are designed to help students in overcoming difficulties and uncertainties in the subject, and simplify concepts that can initially be seen as complex. As a tutor with 2 years of experience and having taught numerous students, I am very understanding and patient, and I'm happy to go over the same thing as many times as it takes to make sure the concept is understood properly. I am known to be someone who can explain things clearly, and I bring this trait to my lessons. Previous students of mine have seen tremendous improvements in their grades and have thoroughly enjoyed my approach to teaching. My lesson environment is aimed to be as friendly and engaging as possible, and is definitely no place to judge anyone. Sound interesting to you? Book a free trial lesson now!

I am a newly qualified dentist from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry who has achieved 14A* & 6A at GCSE/IGCSE, A*A*A at A level (Biology, Maths and Chemistry,) an additional A at AS and A* in my EPQ project. Teaching is a passion of mine which I have embarked upon for the past 7 years. In order to best teach my student, I adapt my teaching style to best meet their needs and the way they want to learn. While some students learn best by going through the textbook, others learn better by being taught with illustrations. There are many different styles of teaching and my 7 years of experience in tutoring has allowed me to master these teaching styles for different students. Something a lot of students struggle with is finding enjoyment in learning the subjects they’re being taught which is why I always love adding ‘fun facts’ to my teaching. The reason I do this is because it makes the content much more interesting if they’re able to relate it to real-life scenarios and also, the example will help them memorise the content as they may remember the fun facts which will remind them of the content. Having attended a poor performing state school during my secondary school education, I was left to work out how to best achieve grades that will help me do well in life all by myself. I personally understand the struggle of being a student and I know what it takes to achieve fantastic grades. Of course, nothing good comes easy but with my teaching, I can make the hurdle of learning, a very small task to overcome. From the start of your lessons with me, if you wish, we can formulate a plan, which, if followed, will put you on track to achieving top grades for all your subjects. Having achieved 14A* & 6A at GCSE/IGCSE, A*A*A at A level (Biology, Maths and Chemistry,) an additional A at AS and A* in my EPQ project, I am confident in tutoring many different subjects but I especially enjoy tutoring: Maths, Chemistry and Biology. Having completed 20 GCSE/IGCSE/FSMQ/O level qualifications during my secondary school education, I am the best person to teach you the revision techniques that will allow you to achieve the exact same results if not better. I can help you with a step by step guide of how to gain a grade 9/A* in all of your subjects. I am THE MOST EXPERIENCED TUTOR WHO HAS COMPLETED THE LINEAR A LEVELS. I was part of the year group to first be taught the new Linear A levels and was able to achieve A*A*Aa + A* (EPQ) without any past papers available for this new specification while applying to dental schools and preparing for interviews throughout my 2nd year of A levels. Once I teach you how to study, make a study plan for you and give you the best method for revision, you can also achieve these grades or even better grades with ease. Having done well in my UKCAT exam, I am also more than confident in teaching this. There are many techniques and methods that I can teach you to help you prepare for the UCAT exam. To do well in the UCAT exam, you must be practising using the best tools available, you must spend the right amount of time practising this exam as well knowing the best methods to answer questions quickly in this time dependant exam. I have advise and methods for all of these aspects that have helped students in the past gain very high scores in the UKCAT & UCAT exam. During my application to Dental school, I have been able to achieve all four offers which includes offers from the following dental schools: Barts (Queen Mary,) King`s College, Cardiff and Sheffield. I am confident in helping with any part of the application process to dental or medical school (including: picking the right dental/medical schools, personal statements, interviews, etc) Many students do not realise that there is not only one pathway into Medicine or Dentistry. While spaces for these two subjects are very difficult to gain, every year, thousands of students are able to achieve them. What medical and dental schools do not want you to be aware of is that you can gain a place at these medical/dental schools even if you have not gained the right grades, UCAT/BMAT scores, haven’t passed the interview or haven’t written the best personal statement. This may come as a surprise to you but students are able to get into some medical/dental schools with grades lower than AAA or UCAT scores lower than 650 and I can help explain how this is possible. Having thoroughly researched all the different pathways of entry into dental school I especially enjoy helping others achieve their dreams of getting into dental/medical school. A question I get asked often is ‘WHY DID YOU NOT GO TO CAMBRIDGE/OXFORD/IMPERIAL/UCL?’ Simple, they don’t offer Dentistry as a course. The best Dental school in the country is by far Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (the university I am attending). I have over 7 years of experience in tutoring many different students from different age groups and I have helped all of them achieve their target grades or grades higher than their target grades. I am also DBS checked which you can check upon request.

How to pass common entrance with a science teacher

Common entrance exams are a test of skill and practical application. It requires children to think outside the box and go beyond their learning at school. Pupils who hire a science teacher have a greater chance of passing the 11-plus and 13-plus exams. This is because they are given 1:1 tuition and support to progress into higher level material. A science tutor will help them to get higher test scores than relying on self-study.

Our tutors will take your child through practical and theoretical based science tasks. Popular topics taught in KS1 and KS2 in particular includes: plants and animals, the environment, the human body, electric circuits, light and sound & more. For 11-plus and 13-plus exams this will go into more detail and specific syllabus content.

Common entrance exams are amongst the most competitive in the UK. There is usually a 1:10 ratio for a place in school per child that takes the exam. Therefore, getting extra tuition will enable you to beat the odds. We've seen our students boost their results by 41% just from a few sessions alone. For you, this means you're more likely to give your child the education they truly deserve.

Our science teachers are qualified, DBS checked and local.  Most have had experience working in the classroom before becoming a tutor. Science

Peter has an amazing way with the children and young people he teaches. He manages to engage — enthral, even — both my 15- and 10-year-old sons. Their progress is evident in their schoolwork. I cannot recommend him highly enough!
