Hello, I'm Marie from Oxford, UK. I'm a professional teacher, private tutor, University Lecturer and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Trainer. My specialist subjects include Business, Marketing, English Language, Media Studies and Sociology, including coursework and exam support, and proofreading / editing assignments.
I'm also a qualified English teacher, and have recently been tutoring students to prepare them for their 11+, 13+, GCSEs, A-Levels and IELTS exams, as well as delivering a complete primary homeschooling programme.
In my career so far, I've been lucky enough to work with some fantastic education institutions including Universities and Colleges in Oxford, India and China. I've delivered professional development training to teachers and professional staff from many different countries, and my work has seen me travel to many places such as Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Malta and Kurdistan. I've also worked as a travelling Governess, accompanying families as they move locations, ensuring continuity and dependable tuition with excellent success rates.

The same applies to critical thinking, which I consider the ability to de-familiarise the familiar and think about the taken-for-granted features of everyday life as if they were something extraordinary. In my experience, theory and complex conceptual issues can be intimidating and difficult to grasp for the majority of people (they were for me, too!). Yet, I have learned that once theory is explained with the help of simple and concrete examples, it can become much more accessible, and therefore be understood and learned.
I am very passionate about the subjects I teach. Studying Sociology, Cultural Studies, or Criminology can allow you to look at the world in a very different way and ultimately change you into a person able to express your potential. After many years of research and teaching, I am still very passionate about the subjects I teach – an enthusiasm I love to convey to students with my approachable and tailored lessons.
