Hi everyone, I'm Ian, a fully qualified (PGCE with QTS) English and Media teacher with 15+ years of consistently 'outstanding' teaching in a variety of positions and workplaces around the world. My specialist skillset not only focuses on mainstream exam preparation work (be that A-Level, GCSE, or SATs) but also in Special Education Needs. I have extensive experience helping those with additional needs succeed in gaining mainstream qualifications. My methods often involve highlighting the options that can be afforded through non-traditional, more engaging online environments but are equally at home with established practises as well. I also offer English as an Second or Other Language (ESOL) for learners aged between 3 and adult. I have a background in education technology and have been part of teams devising and delivering content across the curriculum that helps learners achieve their potential in non-traditional settings. I am currently working on a PhD at the University of Leeds in videogames, neuroscience, and learning and am continually feeding the findings from this into my teaching provision. I genuinely care about offering opportunity to all my learners and take great pride in being able to help students of all ages develop their confidence and succeed in their ambitions. I attained a B.A. Hons Degree in English Literature and Language (2:1) from the modern Humanities-focused, Newman University in Birmingham (established in 2013). As a result, I excelled in my degree and have learned from the best. This has instilled within me the need and passion to continue my learning in everything English Literature and everything English Language, which I also intend to instil within my students. I have a lot of experience, from working with little primary school toddlers in France, to working closely tutoring a group of University students last year. This year I have mainly been working with A Level students though who I teach varies - I like variety. My aim to guide my students into achieving the high grades is unwavering and my enjoyment of the subject tends to be infectious. Furthermore, I have SEN experience with a Higher Distinction qualification in Advanced Special Educational Needs. I am also currently studying TESOL. I have experience in News Journalism and writing in various forms from poetry to Science Fiction. I am completely up to date with the new specifications, across all the exam boards, have created many resources for them and have inspired confidence in my students due to my in depth knowledge of them. I believe that a positive mind renders positive results so I will always be the student's mentor, coach and personal cheerleader.

I am a fully qualified teacher with 20 years of experience teaching English at KS3, 4 and 5 level, both in the state and independent sector. I am also a mother of three children who are now all grown up and on their way to `bigger` things, but I understand the concerns parents may have about the progress of their children. At school, in a class of 15 to 30, it is very difficult for the teacher to give each pupil the individual attention they need and deserve. This is what I enjoy about tutoring: it is 100% child focused. I offer tutoring on a one-to-one basis at your home or in the small classroom I have at my own house. I specialise in tutoring for the 11+ entrance exams as well as specific English tuition up to GCSE level. I am also an official GCSE exam marker for AQA English and as such have an in-depth understanding of how the exam board awards marks. I have gained experience in administering the 11+ entrance exams in the independent school I worked at, as well as marking the papers. With regards to the 11+ preparation, I cover all areas: Maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning. Tutoring allows me to personalise all the planning and teaching to the needs of the young people I am working with. After an initial assessment, I can identify where the areas of strength and areas of development lie. I then tailor the lessons precisely to the needs of the pupil. By working on the areas of development, it is very clear to see where there is progress and parents will be informed and kept up to date. My approach is friendly and pupils do not feel `stressed` in my presence. Parents often comment that their children enjoy the lessons and I ensure that my pupils receive plenty of praise so they really feel a sense of achievement. I am experienced in teaching and marking various exam boards, including IGCSEs: AQA, Edexcel, CIE. I have a proven track record of enabling pupils to achieve outstanding results, exceeding their predicted potential.I have achieved success as a Head of Department and also as a Director of Teaching and Learning, when I empowered other teachers to be successful classroom practitioners. In short, I have years of successful teaching and tutoring experience.

About me: I am French native and qualified teacher with a PGCE and a QTS. I have been teaching French for 6 years, from primary to secondary school and adults classes. All my experience has allowed me to be very creative in my teaching. Integrating ICT, books, worksheets, power points, videos, and interactive games to ensure a broad variety of teaching methods are implemented. I always ensure that all skills are covered. I have excellent feedback of students that I have tutoring for GCSE IGCSE and Alevel examinations in order to get a A* with success. I will provide my students with a medium term planning, and personalise learning experience. We can discuss your needs, and I will be able to assess your requirements. Whether you are an auditory, visual, or kinaesthetic learner, I will find a strategy that will result in success. When I teach, I don’t use complicated grammatical explanations that simply confuse people and I don`t ask you to memorise long lists of vocabulary - because my 10 years experience have shown me that this simply does not work. Instead, through 1-to-1 interaction, I show our students how to build up the language, step by step, so that they are actually speaking independently in French. I worked at Whitechapel and Muswell Hill secondary schools, as well as in Adult Education for City Lit at Coven Garden. I am currently working part-time in secondary school as Teacher. I am a qualified teacher and in my teaching career I was able to cater for the needs of primary secondary and adults students, covering the basic language, from common entrance, GCSE, A-level, DELF-DALF, IB, to adults. I enjoy teaching all of those levels because it has allowed me to bring lots of creativity and create a wide range of resources that can be adapted to all my students. Tutoring online: I have been teaching French for many years. I am from Paris and hold a PGCE and QTS. In 2013` I started to offer online tutorial because... I wanted to learn Spanish at home or during my trips and couldn`t find any good free ressource on the internet (it may have changed since that time!). Online lessons worked very well for me as it was very interactive and flexible. So why not me? So, I started designing my own course from scratch. And slowly I had more and more learners asking for French on Skype or Zoom. French courses Program, What I offer: Free discussion: on any topics you like! Conversation in real-life situations: master dialogues and get confidence in speaking French! Examples : Shopping at a boulangerie Daily conversations: at breakfast Ordering at a restaurant Buying medicine at drugstore Buying a ticket and take a bus/metro Asking for directions on the street Making an appointment with dentist by phone Make an appointment for the week-end with a friend SKYPE), and then have a discussion on the content with the French teacher Grammar & oral practice: deepen your understanding of grammar and practice speaking using the grammar knowledge in real conversation. You can choose a specific grammar form to practice (ex. Past tense, future tense, conditional for polite form, conditional for hypotheses, subjunctive, etc.) Writing expression: you read the article I send you in advance and write your opinion (max. 250 words). I receive your text by email, will check it and send you the correction by email. Preparation for exams: I analyse your current level and help you set goals and study plans in order to succeed in the exam. Specialised rench: Î will help you learn specific expressions and vocabulary in French necessary to your profession and specialisation. What type of lesson do you need? With me you can... prepare for your French exam DELF, DALF, others.. talk about subjects that interest you - news, films, literature, etc... prepare for a professional interview or a meeting My avaibility: Daytime and some evenings. week-ends (teaching at home). I can tutor online and will ensure to make it as challenging as possible. Please note that a basic transport fee will be applied if I come to your place.

For A-level and GCSE students, our key focus is often essay writing. We will also compile a revision portfolio to compartmentalize analysis, academic references and context. This greatly aids the student when preparing for their exams, allowing them to review their own work in a clear and accessible manner.
