My name is Will, and I am an environmental practitioner with a distinction in MSc Environmental Impact Assessment and Management from the University of Manchester. Having achieved an A* at GCSE, an A* at A-level and a first-class degree with honours in geography, I firmly believe I am meant to teach the next generation about environmental, geographical and scientific phenomena. I am fuelled by a passion for the natural world and a need to teach the human world about meeting the natural world's basic needs. I studied this set of subjects because there will be a considerable need for environmental knowledge and new practitioners in this field in the future!
I have been a part-time online tutor for years now, and I have tutored a range of subjects from geography to English literature. I have also taken part in peer education, where I tutored mathematics. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing my students gain confidence in areas they thought they never would. My personal aim for tutoring is to inspire the next generation to become passionate about the world around us! It all starts with good quality education.
I like to teach lecture style for the first few lessons with interactive sections. As lessons move on, I like to work on questions and focus on activities that will enhance students' ability to succeed. I firmly believe tutoring is less about transferring knowledge and more about improving skills that enable success. The skills I teach my students are skills they will likely use throughout the rest of their lives! These skills are sometimes transferable throughout subjects and occasionally specific to topics. Crucially, I will adapt to how each individual student works!
As you may tell, I am a tutor who loves the natural world! In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, rock climbing and running! Pretty much anything that connects me with the phenomena I seek to learn about in my education!

Hello, I'm Rachael, a 1st Class Honours graduate in BSc Geography with industry experience and proficiency in Spanish. From my own University education I understand how students can't learn in one way and how vital it is to use varied resources and techniques whilst teaching. I also understand how important it is to be creative in tutorials- I do not underestimate the importance of diagrams, particularly for detailing geographical processes or biological concepts and whilst I cannot tell you that I am an award-winning artist, I can provide some great drawings.
My tutorials will be structured differently from each other as I would hate to get predictable. I often like to start a class with an activity that gets the students thinking and using their own knowledge, whether that be a slight recap of the last tutorial or a new topic. I like to start my tutorial not making it obvious what the main aim of the lesson is and then to slowly lead the tutee towards it through the warm up activity. My underlying teaching philosophy stems from the fact that I believe learning and education should be an enjoyable and fun process, where the tutor acts more as a source of guidance rather than a feeder of information.
