My name is Will, and I am an environmental practitioner with a distinction in MSc Environmental Impact Assessment and Management from the University of Manchester. Having achieved an A* at GCSE, an A* at A-level and a first-class degree with honours in geography, I firmly believe I am meant to teach the next generation about environmental, geographical and scientific phenomena. I am fuelled by a passion for the natural world and a need to teach the human world about meeting the natural world's basic needs. I studied this set of subjects because there will be a considerable need for environmental knowledge and new practitioners in this field in the future! I have been a part-time online tutor for years now, and I have tutored a range of subjects from geography to English literature. I have also taken part in peer education, where I tutored mathematics. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing my students gain confidence in areas they thought they never would. My personal aim for tutoring is to inspire the next generation to become passionate about the world around us! It all starts with good quality education. I like to teach lecture style for the first few lessons with interactive sections. As lessons move on, I like to work on questions and focus on activities that will enhance students' ability to succeed. I firmly believe tutoring is less about transferring knowledge and more about improving skills that enable success. The skills I teach my students are skills they will likely use throughout the rest of their lives! These skills are sometimes transferable throughout subjects and occasionally specific to topics. Crucially, I will adapt to how each individual student works! As you may tell, I am a tutor who loves the natural world! In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, rock climbing and running! Pretty much anything that connects me with the phenomena I seek to learn about in my education! Here is a little taster for you: Have you ever considered the first rule of Geography? Or even heard of it? Many people actually haven't! But this relatively unknown rule is possibly one of the most comprehensive and inspiring rules I have ever encountered. Here it is: "Everything is related to everything else. But near things are more related than distant things" Now take some time to think about it and we can discuss this in our first session! I look forward to meeting you!

Business Owner, Board Member, Tutor My students vary from home schooling to state schools, to grammar and private schools, even international. I have also taught mature learners and skill building. I assist in UCAS, personal statements, CV creation and interview preparation. Collectively creating a broad expertise within the tutoring industry I set up a company training further tutors to deliver the same level of brilliance that I pride myself on. I hold an undergraduate degree in Business Economics and a masters of science from Royal Holloway in Economics. This has allowed me to turn my passion for Economics into a more enriching tutoring deliverance in Economics, Business, Finance and Accounting, and further related subjects. I have undertaken a lot of long term students as well as exam prep last minute crash courses in all A-Level and GCSE subjects and beyond. Furthermore, I often supervise students in their individual work by helping them create a revision schedule which I keep in touch to ensure the student stays on track, check through their work, feedback for improvement and fill gaps I see need attention. Every student requires a different approach to which I adjust, at the core of which I always lead with engagement, effectiveness and efficiency.

Hello, I'm Rachael, a 1st Class Honours graduate in BSc Geography with industry experience and proficiency in Spanish. I am passionate about exploring the world around me and understanding fully both the physical and human processes that constitute our very own existence. I wish to share this passion with my tutees through engaging geography lessons to help them to gain confidence in their abilities and fulfil their potential. From my own University education I understand how students can't learn in one way and how vital it is to use varied resources and techniques whilst teaching. I also understand how important it is to be creative in tutorials- I do not underestimate the importance of diagrams, particularly for detailing geographical processes or biological concepts and whilst I cannot tell you that I am an award-winning artist, I can provide some great drawings. My tutorials will be structured differently from each other as I would hate to get predictable. I often like to start a class with an activity that gets the students thinking and using their own knowledge, whether that be a slight recap of the last tutorial or a new topic. I like to start my tutorial not making it obvious what the main aim of the lesson is and then to slowly lead the tutee towards it through the warm up activity. My underlying teaching philosophy stems from the fact that I believe learning and education should be an enjoyable and fun process, where the tutor acts more as a source of guidance rather than a feeder of information. Specialises in AQA, EDEXCEL IGCSE, OCR, WJEC

Hi, I'm Makhdooma, a Fine Art student at Loughborough University. I achieved top grades in my GCSEs and A Levels, with A in both of my Art subjects. I recently graduated from Loughborough University with a Pass in my Art and Design Foundation Studies. Art has always been my favourite subject! I love art and feel confident with my enthusiasm & professional expertise! I have a huge passion for drawing and painting, which inspired me to teach Art classes to children, where I guided students on how to explore a range of media. I did one to one classes where I taught adults to improve and build upon their previous skills. I have many years of experience tutoring in the UK and the Middle East. I am motivated as I managed my time well by studying and setting up my Art exhibitions. I was offered to all the Art Foundation courses I applied to. I had experience doing interviews, personal statements and presenting my portfolios. I have in depth knowledge of what Art courses want. I specialise in tutoring students A Level Art and Geography. I also tutor GCSE English Language/ Literature, Design & Technology: Graphic Products, Biology, Chemistry Physics, Geography, Religious Studies, Islam, Art and many more subjects. I strive to improve my students knowledge. I will use past papers and assessment objectives to guide students in their chosen subject. I acknowledge different learning styles and ways of interpreting different ideas. I tailor my lessons to suit their interest and abilities. I will plan my lessons to the students specific requirements as every student is creative and has their unique style! I will have a look at the students work and give advice and support!

I am an experienced tutor, with over 10 years of experience. I am passionate about good quality teaching and a strong advocate for education. I enjoy sharing my subject knowledge and helping my students achieving their goal through rigorous work and emotional investment. I have a BA, MA and MSc in History and related subjects (Philosophy, Religious Studies, Cultures) and I am currently completing my PhD in the History of Emotions. As a trained historian, I am able to see the bigger picture, putting pieces together, with the strongest eye for details. Usually, I am excellent in identifying and addressing problems, especially in regards to my students or my classroom environment. My students have described me as a ‘rigorous’ and ‘inspiring’ tutor. I am Italian and I have been educated both in Italy (BA, MSc) and in the UK (MA, PhD). I have a wide, deep, solid knowledge of Humanities, particularly History, Cultural Studies and Religious Studies. I am fluent in English, Italian (mother tongue), Spanish (University level, DELE diploma) and French. I have also studied Ancient Greek and Latin. I can teach a History lesson starting from the etymology of a word, quoting literary texts and primary sources, using several different historiographical approaches. On the contrary, I can teach Spanish and Italian not only focusing on linguistic functions or grammar, but also explaining the meaning and use of the language through the culture and history of Spain and Italy. I would say my teaching approach is Socratic and solidly interdisciplinary. Essentially, I am comfortable teaching any subject in the Humanities. Currently I am working as an Assistant Tutor at the University of Warwick, where I teach a module focused on Early Modern European History, which is my area of expertise. I have experience in planning and delivering lessons, marking assignments, monitoring students' progress, being aware of health and safety as well as pastoral issues related to my students. During the last two years I have also worked for a charity called 'The Brilliant Club', delivering academic style programmes in schools, to promote higher educations for young people with high potentiality but disadvantaged backgrounds. I regularly teach Italians to kids in my local area and, when still residing in Italy, I worked for several years as private tutor for private families, assisting kids aged 7 to 17.

I was born in Regensburg, Germany and grew up in Penang, Malaysia. After completing high school (IGCSEs) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma at the International School of Penang, I worked at North London Collegiate School Jeju, South Korea for six months as a gap student and tutoring Geography to small groups of students. Following on from this, I completed my undergraduate degree in Environments, majoring in Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures at the University of Melbourne in Australia. During this time, I also completed a language summer programme at the University of Hong Kong and taught in rural Thailand during university holidays. After relocating from Australia to the UK, I have taught Geography at several independent colleges in London and St Albans and have also built my tutoring business. I then went on to complete a PGCE in secondary Geography from the University of Cambridge. I am bilingual, speaking English and German fluently. I enjoy exploring new places and cultures and am fascinated by languages. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and teach with a passion. I have experience teaching: - A2 and AS Geography (AQA, Edexcel, CIE, OCR, WJEC) - GCSE and IGCSE Geography (AQA, Edexcel, CIE, OCR, WJEC) including entrance exam preparation - 13+ common entrance preparation for Geography - Primary level Geography - University level Geography I have 8 years private tutoring experience, over which I have taught, helped and inspired hundreds of students across thousands of hours of lesson time. I have taught both A-levels and GCSEs as well as younger year groups, including preparation for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. I have experience of teaching the following exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, CIE, OCR and WJEC. Importantly, I am familiar with both the old and new specifications. I have had a very large and diverse range of clients, including SEN students. I have also tutored university students in Geography and have guided them through essay and dissertation submissions and exams. I am currently a Geography teacher at an independent school in central London, teaching GCSE and A-Levels. I have also taught GCSE and A-Level Geography at several other independent colleges in London and St Albans over the last few years. I tutored AS and A2 Geography (WJEC board) at a London state high school in preparation for their exams in June 2016. Finally, I tutored Geography on an international level at North London Collegiate School, Jeju, South Korea and have taught in rural Thailand, among other work experience in various fields on an international level. Building a strong working relationship and trust between the tutor and student is very important, and being easily approachable is a vital characteristic a tutor should have. Some students may have just lost their inspiration to learn and so it is the tutor's job to motivate and inspire them. An important role for a tutor is to build a students confidence and acting as a mentor to them. Additionally, it is important the student is guided on an individual-based level and encouraged to actively engage and think, making links with information explained to them, and not spoon fed. Especially applicable to Geography, my lessons have a strong focus on exam technique, including essay structure and language; and effective exam preparation.

I`m a private female Entrance Exams and Geography tutor with ~5 years of experience in tutoring. Having graduated from Bristol University 2 years ago with a 1st in Geography, I feel well equipped to not only provide the results you desire, but also help your student gain the confidence to flourish and gain a real love for their subject!! It's particularly common for girls to feel overshadowed by boys at school, especially at exam times. I enjoy inspiring young girls who are looking for a female role model and enjoy helping them flourish by making lessons engaging and interesting. I believe the trick to solving a complicated problem is splitting it up into smaller simpler parts. This is something I excel at. I teach entrance exams for KS3 & 11+ and all levels of Geography, with the potential for Degree level Geography depending on the particular modules required.

I recently graduated from Oxford with a Geography BA. I specialised in geopolitics and gender studies, but also covered a whole range of physical geography as well. I am now working for a grassroots organisation that offers legal assistance to asylum seekers in Greece, and want to pursue a career in humanitarian law. I am currently learning Farsi (Persian), so I am a student myself! I have over 100 hours tutoring experience in Geography, Maths and Admissions Counselling from the last 5 years. This covers GCSE to pre-degree level (I achieved all A*s at GCSE and all A's at A-Level). I have also taught a whole range of capabilities, to students with top grades looking for extended reading and challenge, to students whose English isn't even their first language. I love the challenge of both these situations, and want to encourage all my students to meet and exceed their own expectations of themselves. Often geography is not taught is a particularly inspiring, interesting or relevant way in schools, but it can be! I want to change peoples perceptions and show it is a really important subject which deals with the most pressing issues in society such as climate change, the refugee crisis, neo-colonial power relations and even Brexit and corona-virus! My sessions reflect my passion for the subject. They are designed to be student led, and often's ends up with the student teaching me! I use creative teaching methods and encourage my students to find their areas of interest and pursue their own extended reading. I look forward to hearing from you!

I gained my teaching qualification through Portsmouth University studying the PGCE with QTS in July 2021. I'm a qualified primary teacher where I can teach all primary subjects: English, Maths, Science, Geography and History. I have taught and supported students in a mainstream secondary school and a SEN secondary school supporting all subjects. I have an Early Childhood Studies degree where I studied at Portsmouth University. I have taught in primary and secondary schools in a wide range of all subjects l. I want to become a tutor so I can help inspire and motivate students to their potential. I am happy in choosing hours to suit my students. I have taught students individually or in groups in subject specific interventions. Planning and implementing core foundations of subjects to support the students effectively. I am a hands on teacher, where I prefer to teach through hands on lessons in a creative way to help break some barriers of learning. My first lesson with the student would be getting to know them of how they learn and what areas they are finding challenging. Finding out the areas of a subject that will need to be broken down into smaller sections to help gain understanding. After sessions, I will set homework to ensure understanding is being developed further between sessions if needed. Communication with students, parents and carers is vital in how I work to ensure consistency of how to support the student further to achieve the goal they want. I enjoy reading, colouring and exploring new areas and generally having fun. I have two cats and a dog that ensure my house is lively at all times.

My name is Sofie and I would love to be your next tutor. I recently discovered a passion for tutoring and teaching younger students when volunteering to help a refugee child with homework. I realised I had a passion for helping others to learn. After years of helping my younger brother and peers with their homework it seemed the natural progression to turn to tutoring and see if I could help anyone else with learning. I always enjoyed school and learning but appreciate not everyone does and sometimes people need a little extra help! I'd be very happy to have a preliminary video chat with you to discuss any questions you have! I look forward to hearing from you! Sofie

What do you learn in Pre U Geography?

There are four elements to the Pre U Geography syllabus, which includes geographical issues, global environments, global themes and a research topic. Students are assessed by written assessments for each element of the course. By the end of Pre U Geography, you'll have learnt to discuss and assess a whole range of geographical issues.

Is the Pre U (CIE) course worth it?

The Pre University / Pre U syllabus and exam board is designed to prepare students for a university education. The course is definitely an academic challenge and students will be stretched to their full capabilities. It's definitely worth following the Pre U curriculum if you're hoping to take up an undergraduate degree after sixth form.

How do I revise for Pre U Geography?

Revising for Geography is tough! There's a lot of content to learn and one of the best ways to format your work is to learn it visually with mind-maps of each topic. Initially writing down the content will help you absorb some of it and then you can read over and speak aloud each topic to memorise the information.

Find a Pre-University (CIE) Geography Tutor

Studying Pre-U Geography (or the Cambridge International Examination) sets students up with the skills and study techniques they need to study Geography at University. It's a fantastic choice of qualification for budding Geographers. It's also an academically demanding course, and often students will benefit greatly from the support of a private tutor.

Tutor House has a range of Pre-U Geography tutors to suit all abilities and learning styles. You can explore our tutors yourself on our website or you can ask to be matched with a selection of tutors we feel will suit your child best. Click our ‘Request a Tutor’ button to enter specific information about learning levels and goals.

Tutor House is committed to helping children of all ages and abilities succeed. So please don't hesitate to contact us directly via phone or email for more detailed guidance and advice.
