What is democracy?
A democracy literally means rule by the people. It is an elected body (government) who create legislation and laws in lieu of the majority in power. Democratic vote is when the people decide who will become the next government.
What are political parties in UK?
A political party is a body of like-minded individuals who share similar beliefs aimed at improving national conditions. Opposing parties will represent different demographics and interests. There are 4 main political parties in the UK: Labour, Conservative, Liberal-Democrats and the Scottish National Party (SNP).
What is left and right wing politics?
Left wing politics embodies policies for the working-class or Labour party; they aim to improve the social and economic conditions of the country. Right wing politics embodies the Conservative party; it favours nationalist policies for the middle & upper-class majority. They are opposing ideologies, where the left promotes freedom and equality, whilst the right promotes tradition, hierarchy and order.
