Teaching Experience Maxim has tutored since graduating from Oxford in 2019. He has delivered over 1000 hours of tutoring, a testament to his commitment and dedication. In 2022, one of Maxim's students scored an A* in A-Level Politics, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. His students regularly gain top grades in A-levels and coursework. In 2021, both long-term Politics students got their desired grades and went to their dream universities. Maxim has experience across the Humanities, including various A-Level Politics syllabi and exam boards. The Oxbridge tutorial system (going through essays forensically and discussing them in depth) is central to Maxim's tutoring. These were, in his own words, "the best years of my life, with a learning experience I'm keen to share." Testimonials “The amount of history and your ability to create a timeline in order to help me learn the syllabus, although (it) may seem like common sense, makes the course much easier to understand thanks to you.” Andreas (A-Level Politics student) “Maxim tutored our son regularly throughout his A level Politics course. He was awarded an A* in his exam. Maxim has extensive background knowledge about the subject, exam technique and offers patience and persistence. Our son said he misses the sessions now the exams are over, which is a real endorsement. I would thoroughly recommend Maxim.” Jane (parent of former Politics student) Maxim has helped several students achieve places at top tier schools like Westminster, Highgate, South Hampstead, University College School, Wetherby, and Latimer. He spent three years at Trinity College, Oxford reading History and Politics. At Oxford, Maxim focused on British and international politics, achieving high marks in International Relations and US Politics. While a student, Maxim also appeared on University Challenge and was twice an elected member of the Oxford Union's governing body. Maxim got three A grades at A-Level, notching up 100% in UK Politics with additional success in US Politics. Maxim received offers from LSE and Warwick along with Oxford.

I am a highly experienced tutor with over 7 years experience teaching and tutoring in private and public schools, as well as privately and online, in the UK, France and Spain. I am familiar with all major exam boards, and have been frequently noted for the passion and rigor with which I introduce and teach my subjects. I am a firm believer in the idea that education should be available to all, and that there is is student without potential. I thus make a point to help the student see the attraction of the subject. My methodology is focused on ensuring immersion in both the more theoretical and abstract principles of the subect and their application through practice and concrete examples. I aim to get the student applying themselves consistently as soon as possible, keeping a constant eye out for areas for improvement. I studied at the University of Warwick, Sciences Po, and the Sorbonne. I have worked as a teacher, tutor, translator, researcher, as well as business research and charity. I am fluent in 6 languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German. I am also a teacher of Latin and Greek.

*Please message me to request a booking as my timetable is changeable and across different platforms so is not always updated on here* Hello, I'm Marie from Oxford, UK. I'm a professional teacher, private tutor, University Lecturer and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Trainer. My specialist subjects include Business, Marketing, English Language, Media Studies and Sociology, including coursework and exam support, and proofreading / editing assignments. I'm also a qualified English teacher, and have recently been tutoring students to prepare them for their 11+, 13+, GCSEs, A-Levels and IELTS exams, as well as delivering a complete primary homeschooling programme. In my career so far, I've been lucky enough to work with some fantastic education institutions including Universities and Colleges in Oxford, India and China. I've delivered professional development training to teachers and professional staff from many different countries, and my work has seen me travel to many places such as Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Malta and Kurdistan. I've also worked as a travelling Governess, accompanying families as they move locations, ensuring continuity and dependable tuition with excellent success rates. I am passionate about helping my students and clients achieve their goals through education, and I'm equally as happy delivering bespoke training sessions to large groups of staff, teaching a University course, or getting a call from an individual student telling me they've achieved the grade they needed that we worked on in their private study sessions. Before I retrained as a teacher, I worked as a Marketing Manager and Project Manager for a University in Oxford, and these skills and responsibilities have helped to shape my adaptable teaching style and capabilities. I would love to hear from you and find out about your training and education needs, and let's achieve your goals, together.

I offer tuition in Sociology, Politics, Government, History, English Language, English Literature, Philosophy, Religious Studies, public speaking, essay technique and interview technique. However, I also offer bespoke Oxbridge interview tuition for those wishing to read a Humanities subject. Having been through the process twice and seen it from both sides, I am uniquely placed to guide and assist potential Oxbridge pupils. I also support students in 11+ and 13+ exam entry, with specific focus for bursary or scholarship applications. I've been tutoring for 5 years, and taught many students whilst I was at Cambridge. Before joining Tutor House, I engaged in freelance work, tutoring for friends of the family and members of my social circle. Having graduated, it is my goal to take these skills, and my passion for education, to a wider base of clients. I currently work with a number of students through Tutor House, mainly at 13+ and GCSE level, covering a variety of subjects. I believe that tutoring provides a crucial niche not often covered by mainstream education. Tutoring provides a unique opportunity to build on a pupil's strengths whilst building confidence and helping them overcome their weaknesses. Every pupil has a unique way of learning, and, as such, deserves a completely unique teaching approach, specially tailored to them. It would be my pleasure to apply the knowledge I have gained over my academic career to help new clients excel.

Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 “outstanding” rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an “Advanced Practitioner”-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK’s toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards. Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome! Furthermore, in also being an accomplished property developer with my own UK real-estate portfolio and honorary co-founder of a former property company alongside my partner, I have acted as a business mentor to Year 11 students on entrepreneurship, and how to begin their own journey in property investment, which has seen me guide some of the UK’s brightest new generation of business leaders. In my remaining spare time, I am currently engaged in the pre-reading for the start of my future PHD in International Relations, during which I will be studying the geopolitics of any superpower conflict over Taiwan. Furthermore, I enjoy travelling extensively in our second home of Tuscany with my young family, supporting Manchester United, playing the drums, and playing the PlayStation (although not as much as I used to, these days!) As my full and varied career has hopefully shown, I have a passion for English, maths, history, and the 11+ exams, taking great pride in providing the best academic and pastoral support I can, whilst hopefully being an outstanding role-model for all of my students, as I help them forge their way in the world. ►► QUALIFICATIONS ◄◄ --MRes (Distinction) in International Security from University of Warwick-won academic award for writing an “outstanding and genuinely original dissertation” that represented: “an important contribution to existing literature in the field of International Security”. --PGCE (Distinction) in Secondary Education-ranked in the top 2 trainee teachers in my year’s cohort, with outstanding feedback in academic and practical assessments --BA (Hons) in English/History from University of Birmingham-received special award for achieving academic excellence despite coming from the bottom 5% of UK families in terms of socioeconomic poverty --A Levels (A* in all subjects taken): prize winning student in my sixth form for most inspirational pupil, and was in the top 2% of the UK for my academic results, including 100% in key modules Tutoring Experience I have a broad range of experience turning around struggling students in some of the UK’s toughest classrooms, as well as challenging high achieving learners in the pursuit of academic excellence. In my teaching and tutoring career thus far, I have taught across the curriculum age-ranges (7-18 years), as well as undergraduate and postgraduate level students, and specialise in teaching troubled learners lacking confidence, whilst pushing very bright pupils. Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates received a 25% upwards leap in the opening two years and my tutoring pass grades in my subjects of English, maths and history have been outstanding, so that the vast majority of my classes/tutees are now passing with strong academic grades, and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. During last academic year, my tutees enjoyed superb results in English, Maths, History and the 11+, with 96% reaching their target minimum grade, and 68% exceeding this mark, entering prestigious institutions such as the University of Durham, University of Heidelburg and Bromsgrove School, as well as world-class employers such as Rolls Royce. Therefore, over my career as a “super-tutor” so far, I am proud to have delivered over 15,000 lessons across 1000 students within 32 countries, from the UK to Hong Kong. I also have considerable mentoring expertise, in having built my own UK property portfolio currently valued at £2.75 million from scratch, I have mentored many adult and teenage entrants into property investing, guiding their purchases and renovations to the overall value of £14 million, and counting. In addition to this, I have also been an informal mentor to UK gang members, tasked with persuading them to their back on lives of criminality, and embrace the transformative potential of education, which has been among the most rewarding roles of my career thus far. ►► PARENT FEEDBACK ◄◄ --“Jonathan is fantastic and my 15 years old have a big turn round about his view of education. Now he can't wait for his lesson!” --“I could not have wished for a better tutor for my son! I cannot praise Jon's enthusiasm for his subject, motivational skills and professionalism enough.” --“The biggest testimonial comes from my son, who now looks forward to and enjoys his weekly visit! praise indeed from a teenager!” --“I have nothing but praise for Jonathan.” --“George is totally happy to see him which is a miracle at 3pm on a Saturday!” --“Jon is a fantastic teacher best tutor I have ever had.” --“AMAZINGLY helpful, nice and very cooperative.” --“Thanks soooo much Jon, Ashleigh passed, she won't be doing retakes and is feeling incredibly relieved.” --“We feel lucky to book a place with him early on as he seemed to be full booked before December.” --“Never passed an English test before in my whole life then came to Jonathan with very little time for my first GCSE exam and managed to get an A for English literature and a B for creative writing. 10/10.” --"Jon has a unique ability to get students onboard in a short amount of time. He is quick to establish a rapport, building on trust and confidence which makes an ideal platform for focused learning”. --“He is heavily in demand which speaks volumes in terms of his reputation and is super knowledgeable and prepared for all elements of the syllabus.” --“He went from a predicted a 4/5 to an 8 !!! We were extremely pleased and put this down to Jons ability.” --“I wish we had found him earlier! We highly recommend him!” --“He is helpful and gifted at tutoring kids so they understand exactly what they need to change or improve on. We will be using Jon for all of our children.” Tutoring Approach Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to equip them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible. In terms of my lesson delivery, I always strive to be on the cutting-edge of education in use of teaching resources and methods. Therefore, my approach to tutoring makes use of the techniques of “blended learning”, utilising advanced video-conferencing software, modern presentational packages such as Prezi, powerful virtual learning environments and resourced by well-known educational companies, all supported by online platforms provided by GCSE Bitesize, amongst others. This constant innovation was perhaps best illustrated by my recent use of computer games as a learning tool, which led to some of my classes’ GCSE English creative writing being utilised by exam boards as exemplars to share across the UK, in which they were inspired by video games such as Halo and Mass Effect to attain grade 9s. In light of this dedication to using Smart tech to deliver a first-class education, throughout my teaching career in inner-city schools and sixth-forms, I have become known for never leaving any learner behind, whilst using creative methods in covering the curriculum in an accessible and enjoyable way. Needless to say, I passionately believe that education should be a joy, not a chore, and I always do my best to ensure this for each and every one of my students, both in the classroom and online. *Enhanced DBS certified **Kindly note: proposed rate will be dependent on level of study, length of tutoring period and demand.

Teaching is my Passion but just a profession. I started teaching at a tender age of 12 and since then I've been teaching students from the age of 3 up to 74. I have taught Business, Economics, Accounting, Math, English, Sociology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Politics, Geography and History for GCSE/ OL and Advanced Level examinations for popular local and international exam boards including Cambridge, Edexcel, OCR and AQA. During my 22 years of formal school teaching career and more than 25 years of tutoring, I have produced most World Prize Winners who scored 600/600 for the above subjects in the above mentioned examinations consecutively over many years. I have also lectured at Universities and tutored for undergraduates, post graduates and PhD students and helped with their assignments and assessments over the years. My classes are interactive and fun to learn which make the students love not just like the subject. I discuss a range of past exam questions, self-prepared exams and training the students to improve their writing skills in theory subjects and improve their analytical skills in other. My most important asset of all is my flexibility and adaptability to the individual requirements and needs of each student and preparing myself accordingly. This skill I have gained by teaching students of all culture and age groups from 63 different countries. Demo lessons I’ve attached some links below of my demo lessons which will give an idea on my teaching methodology. Please feel free to contact me if you have any more queries. I am a 38 year-old Lecturer of Politics and Philosophy at the University of London where I teach courses in Political Theory, Ideologies and Philosophy. I also hold pastoral and academic support roles that include being the Director of Studies for first year students as well as the convener of the Politics Study Skills Seminar and the Politics Dissertation Seminar. In addition to my lectureship post, I have been, for the past eleven years, a private tutor to dozens of A-level and university students from varied backgrounds and look forward to working with many more in years to come in view of helping more young minds reach their full academic potential. I have also acted as an A-level external examiner for Colfe's - one of London's oldest independent schools. My teaching motto is that ‘you do not really understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother`. I offer a holistic approach to teaching in seeking to inspire and guide students to reach the essential core of philosophical and political inquiry. My approach to teaching has afforded me the runner-up position for the Peake Award for Excellence in Learning & Teaching, an award offered by the University of London to student nominated lecturers, and to date all my A-level students have achieved, where possible, higher than their predicted grades. I keenly accept A-level and university students of Philosophy, Government and Politics, Religious Studies, and Political Theory, regardless of their current level of ability.
