¡Hola! Soy Berna, from Spain a very experienced and motivated teacher accustomed to deal with all ages students from all over the world. I’m teaching Spanish since 1998, clearly I really love teaching and dealing students. No student is like another and that's why my lessons are always “customer focused”. After checking students’ level, we agree on what are their interests and needs. Then I focus classes transmitting calm, celebrating successes and making see that mistakes are normal and with time and patience they will be overcome. I'm approachable, patient and understanding and my highest priority is efficiency. That’s why my lessons are absolutely “customer focused”: - Grammar. - Conversation. - Vocabulary. - Spanish for Specific Purposes (Healthcare, Tourism and Business Professional). - Preparation for official exams as: DELE, SIELE or Diploma in Spanish for Business. I really love classroom teaching but I'm quite convinced that future teaching is online teaching. ¡Gracias y hasta la vista!

I am a qualified teacher of Spanish, French and German. I have taught in the classroom and been a private tutor for nine years. This includes working as a Head of Languages in a secondary school. I've always been passionate about languages. But when I was a pupil, with an overemphasis on vocabulary and an underemphasis on grammar, the teaching limited my progress. This motivated me to become a languages teacher who gives students the underlying framework of a language in order to accelerate their progress toward fluency. I've had proven success. Due to my GCSE results, I was promoted to Head of Department within two years of stepping foot in the classroom - success which I sustained at KS3, GCSE and A-Level. While I love the classroom, my passion has turned towards one-to-one tuition, simply because the learning gains are so quick. Since taking on a new role for the Department for Education in whole-school improvement, I have more flexibility to offer private tuition, bringing my experience of Ofsted-outstanding teaching and learning to my online lessons. The one-to-one format allows me to pack more into my lessons than in the classroom, and to go deeper with each of my students. You can expect to be supported and challenged. You'll have homework after every lesson. Something I place a high value on is explaining to you, where appropriate, the language learning process so that you can begin to map out your learning journey towards fluency. I studied Spanish, French and German at University so am equally proficient in all three. I also earned a Masters in Education Leadership in 2014. I offer lessons at every level. Whether you're someone who has never tried a language, a GCSE student, or someone who's looking for a conversation partner, I'd love to meet you. Get in touch!

Hi! My name is Paula, I am a Chilean private tutor who teaches Spanish, EFL and singing. I have been a tutor for over 6 years now. Starting in Chile, I taught international students who needed to learn Spanish in order to integrate to their schools or workplaces. In addition, I helped students that were new to the international school and needed support with EFL in order to successfully take part in their lessons. Around that time, I also began teaching singing lessons privately and as a Music TA. When I moved to London I decided to continue private tutoring as a full-time job, as I find one-on-one lessons to be very fulfilling. It really is very inspiring to be able to help a student gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to expand their horizons. My teaching philosophy is based on setting the highest standards for all my students based on their needs. I firmly believe that a tutor’s highest responsibility is to bring forth the extensive potential of their student while further developing their personal interest and engagement with the subject. Because of my experience working in diverse teaching environments, I have had the pleasure of using different learning styles and creating unique studying atmospheres for students.

My name is Jonah and I am a graduate in Spanish and Linguistics from University of Oxford. In addition to Spanish and linguistics, I am interested in, and tutor, a variety of other subjects, namely French, Portuguese, English language, English literature and Maths. My attitude towards tutoring revolves primarily around the confidence of a student, and I have observed first-hand the major role that self-belief plays in learning. In my experience, what can often hold a student back is a lack of self-belief rather than a lack of ability for a given subject. Therefore, my tutoring style places an emphasis on nurturing confidence in a student. For example, I encourage all of my students to ask questions (I am of the opinion that there is no such thing as a stupid question!) in order that they are completely clear on, and therefore, confident of, the subject matter. I have found that a student with a high level of self-belief has a much greater propensity to take the lead in sessions and, as a result, to learn more efficiently and to enjoy the given subject! My extensive knowledge of language (I speak Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian) and understanding of linguistics put me in a perfect position to tutor and teach these subjects as there are few language-related difficulties that I have not before encountered myself as a student. My number one priority in teaching languages is the student's understanding of grammar as knowledge of the structure of language is both what is rewarded at the higher end of mark schemes and what gives the student confidence when they come to use their language skills. That said, I am fully aware of the importance of practicing the spoken element of a given language and in this way, learning more intuitively. In my opinion, a happy balance between the two is most conducive to language learning. In many ways the formulaic, structured and rule-based nature of language is reminiscent of mathematics and perhaps it is for this reason that I chose to study it at A level. Although I did not go on to study maths at university, it was my favourite subject by the end of my school career and I often wish I had taken it further. As with languages, I believe confidence is key to the apprehension of mathematics and, therefore, I encourage my students to see maths as a series of puzzles to be solved rather than a set of daunting exam questions. Please don't hesitate to get in touch for any further questions!

Hi! I am a recent graduate of King's College London, where I received my MA in Medieval Studies. In my undergraduate, I majored in history with a minor in Latin. As a result I tutor history, English, and Latin. I have a passion for learning, and would love to help students of all ages develop their passion for learning as well. While I am able to tutor for children in primary and secondary school, my experience in my MA and undergraduate have prepared me to assist students who are specifically preparing for their GCSEs and A Levels. My experience in history ranges from Ancient history all the way to the World War II era, allowing me to tutor in multiple historical eras. History is much more than memorizing dates and figures, although these are important aspects of preparing for exams such as GCSEs. As such, I will help students find creative and personalized memorization techniques, as well as helping them develop their historical critical thinking by working with them through practice tests, previous tests and quizzes from their classes, and providing study tips that have worked for me personally. For English Language students, I will help them by walking them through essay editing, language structure and meaning, and help them develop their writing skills. In light of restrictions, I would hold all sessions online, and would be flexible to move to in-person meetings when restrictions change. In addition to my time in academia, I am also a children's minister and a nanny. I love animals, reading (my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice), and plants.

I am currently Head of Languages at at an all through school, and this opportunity has equipped me with the knowledge, skills and experience to be successful in this role and bringing my expertise in the developing of an engaging and exciting MFL curriculum. As a hard-working teacher who loves languages, since the beginning of my teaching career, I have always strive to encourage and combine an enjoyment for learning and communicating in a foreign language, as well as an interest in the Wider world to become a knowledgeable global citizen. I believe that my energy and positive attitude towards my own subject and others, coupled with a desire to provide students with the opportunity to fulfil and exceed their potential, makes me a valuable leader to the Modern Foreign Languages department and the school as a whole. During my time as a Head of Department, I have been responsible for redesigning and developing the SOL in KS3 and KS4, in order to meet the demands of the new GCSE for Spanish and French. I have focused on promoting an inclusive curriculum, enabling all students to make genuine progress with the aim of increasing accessibility to the new GCSE course. I have also contributed with lesson planning, adapting assessments to incorporate features of the new GCSE since year 7, as well as implementing and monitoring the marking and homework policy in the department to ensure that all students make adequate progress giving enough opportunities to revisit important skills as well as reflecting in their own learning. I have also supported other members of the team in becoming confident to differentiate lessons for the less and most able. I am always looking for ways of enhancing students’ language and cultural learning and as such, I have established great links with the KS2 languages provision in my current school as well as overseeing the SOL offered. At Wren I would bring the best of those experiences to implement a five-year GCSE course that meets the high demands of the reformed examination by focusing on the relevant skills from the beginning. This approach will also guarantee pupils to be ready for A level. I have lead the introduction of Mandarin at KS2 and KS3 as enrichment and as additional language at KS3. I have also organised frequent visits to Tapas restaurants, Cambridge University, and have supported school trips to France as well other important extra curriculum visits. I have organised letter exchange with an International school in Spain and America, which was after used for the International School Award, and have used Skype conversations with a school in Spain to motivate Year 11 students to consider the subject at A-Level. Moreover, I have organised several Spelling Bees. I always seek out challenges and I am excited by the opportunity to inspire students with significant barriers to learning to overcome their difficulties and to share my passion for languages. Since I started my teaching career in 2009, I have always tried my best to help students to achieve their full potential. In my first two years of teaching I taught Spanish to all year groups (Year 7-13) and French to KS3, achieving outstanding results 98% (A*/C) GCSE (low ability group) 98% (AS) and 80% (A2). As a Second in Department and Lead in languages at a separate school, my commitment to raise attainment and my enthusiasm for teaching languages led to an increase in the number of students studying Spanish at GCSE from 45 the first year to 135 students the following year from different abilities. Last year at SMSJ, 65% of the Spanish students achieved 9-4 grades with only one-hour lesson in year 8 and year 9 at KS3 in mixed ability classes. This year, I have 55 students from high, middle and low abilities classes and am on track to achieve their FFT20 in Spanish due to the action plan we are putting in place to accelerate learning and improve attainment. Next year, 95% of the students are taking Spanish and French as one of their GCSE options. I am responsible for analysing data related to our results in order to tailor interventions for the students falling short of their target grades. I also have used this information to make improvements within my department’s teaching and learning. I believe that one of the key ways to address this issue is the involvement of parents in their child’s education. I have contributed to developing close links with parents, letting them know through letters and constant communication how they can support their children at home. As a Department, we base our interventions on end of term data. We identify underachieving students and put in place interventions in class or after school, in order to personalise their learning and support their needs, and at the same time, make important decisions on how to maximize Human Resources and expertise within the department to make faster and more sustainable progress. Data is used to support my judgements about students’ progress, but data is only informative if it is accurate. To support all members of staff I organised standardisation and moderation sessions. This has been successful in setting standards across the Department as well as allowing other members of the team to share good assessment practice.

My name is Maria and I am originally from Spain. I have lived in different countries during my life, including Munich, Germany, where I got my IB diploma, and Leicester, UK, where I recently obtained my Bachelors degree in Aerospace Eng. I have worked as a tutor for two years now, both online and in presence. During this time, I got to know many students with different backgrounds, needs and ways of working, and I learnt that the best way of helping students achieve their goals is personalizing the lessons to their style of working. Each student is unique and it is important to address their areas of improvement using different methods, which would help them broaden their minds and enjoy while learning!

I have experience tutoring at general primary school level (all subjects), languages (English, French & Spanish) up to GCSE, law (up to and including undergraduate level) as well as 11+ and 13+ entrance exams covering both verbal and non-verbal reasoning. A law graduate of Warwick (LLB) and Cardiff (LLM) universities, I am a well-read individual with experience helping children and young people with their entrance exams, GCSE prep. or general homework/school tuition. I am a native English/French speaker and fluent also in Spanish. I have taught English abroad in Spain and coached swimming during holidays whilst studying at university and was able to combine my academic sides with experience enjoying working with children to become an effective helper of children, young people and adult learners to enjoy their learning process, as well as to overcome hurdles and ensure a natural passage to high proficiency and academic success. I was tutored myself for a brief period as a child, for an entrance exam and for years afterwards I'd be told that my reading level was ahead of my age group, so I have first hand experience of the benefits tutoring can bring. My teaching style is putting the student at the centre of everything I'm doing and working with them to help them overcome specifics whilst always maintaining an eye on the big picture to ensure the easy parts are not missed either. Perceiving what my student's gut feeling is towards the subject matter they're dealing with enables me to figure out immediately how best to proceed, whether it be starting with topics they find easier to ease them in to their routine before touching on and then tackling the harder ones, or sometimes beginning with a difficult topic but presenting it to the student in a novel way, breaking it down in to small pieces for them to slowly but confidently process before revisiting the topic in a future session to ingrain it within them and help them to use their new skill more confidently and quickly. I think it's pivotal for a tutor to maintain a perspective of everything their student has to achieve as well as focussing in on the specifics. This is to ensure they're on a road to timely success, However, I also firmly believe that in every session, a student must leave with tangible and measurable skills and knowledge that they didn't know before that session began. My ability to focus on the path ahead as well as providing the diligence required on a topic by topic basis has given me a track record of guiding my students successfully to their academic destination in a timely manner.
