I am a graduate of Oxford University. I tutored throughout my studies, and consequently have 9 years of experience - both in the UK and abroad. I teach English Language and Literature, History, Latin and Greek and French up to A-level, as my main subjects. I have also specialised in tutoring the humanities up to A-Level/ IB Level tutoring, including politics, religious studies and history. I have taught at all levels, having worked with students as young as 5 years-old, through to A-Level students and adult learners. I have experience in preparing students for the ISEB Pre-tests, for 11+, 13+ and common entrance - English and maths. I have successfully coached many students through the application procedures to top UK independent schools, including Eton College and Harrow School, and to top universities including Cambridge University and University College London. I am a committed tutor and have consistently produced excellent results. I believe that effective teaching must focus on the student’s needs and must be engaging and fun. I always strive to bring the best out in my students.

Hi! My name is Paula, I am a Chilean private tutor who teaches Spanish, EFL and singing. I was raised bilingual and I have a Bachelor's Degree and a Post Graduate Degree in Education, graduating from both with the highest honours. I have been a tutor for over 7 years now. Starting in Chile, I taught international students and parents who needed to learn Spanish in order to integrate to their new schools or workplaces. In London, my work has focused on helping students maximize and achieve their potential in their Spanish GCSEs and A-levels, and to instill in them a lifelong love for languages. After having been a TA at the International School Nido de Aguilas in Chile, I decided to move to the UK and become a private tutor full-time, as I find one-on-one lessons more fulfilling and enriching. Because of my experience working in diverse teaching environments, I have had the pleasure of using different learning styles and creating unique studying atmospheres for students. My teaching philosophy is based on setting the highest standard of education for all my students, tailored to align with their individual needs, abilities and goals. I firmly believe that a tutor’s most important responsibility is to bring forth their student's potential while further developing their personal interest and engagement with the subject. It really is very inspiring to be able to help a student gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to expand their horizons!

¡Hola! Soy Berna, from Spain a very experienced and motivated teacher accustomed to deal with all ages students from all over the world. I’m teaching Spanish since 1998, clearly I really love teaching and dealing students. No student is like another and that's why my lessons are always “customer focused”. After checking students’ level, we agree on what are their interests and needs. Then I focus classes transmitting calm, celebrating successes and making see that mistakes are normal and with time and patience they will be overcome. I'm approachable, patient and understanding and my highest priority is efficiency. That’s why my lessons are absolutely “customer focused”: - Grammar. - Conversation. - Vocabulary. - Spanish for Specific Purposes (Healthcare, Tourism and Business Professional). - Preparation for official exams as: DELE, SIELE or Diploma in Spanish for Business. I really love classroom teaching but I'm quite convinced that future teaching is online teaching. ¡Gracias y hasta la vista!

I am a University of Durham graduate (BA in Modern Languages & English Literature) and I speak fluent French & Spanish. After having taken time off to have my first child, I am now looking for tutoring roles where I can share my subject knowledge. I have a strong academic background, hold a master’s degree in Myth, Cosmology & the Sacred (Canterbury Christ Church University) and have over two years’ teaching experience. This, combined with my ability to communicate and listen, means I am able to develop and maintain good relationships with students and parents alike. I feel that my experience and set of skills make me an excellent tutor and role model.

I'm currently a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Birmingham and have previously studied at the University of Cambridge where I completed a research-based Masters degree in Psychology. I have over 6 years experience in tutoring pupils and university students in Psychology (including statistics and research methods), German (my native language), and Spanish (bilingual proficiency). I have also taught a variety of students online for over 2 years now and feel confident that this format can work well for building a positive learning environment. I always aim for students to feel confident and happy at the end of a lesson, which I believe is just as important subject knowledge. I have in-depth knowledge of the UK GCSE and A Level curriculum in Psychology, Spanish and German (AQA, OCR, Edexcel) and use up-to-date past exam papers to guide my teaching where relevant. Drawing on my experience from successfully publishing in academic journals, I also offer advanced feedback on dissertations or other project work at undergraduate and graduate degree level. In addition, I offer proofreading and individualised feedback to personal statements for university admissions. I plan my lessons to include small pieces of information and intermittent learning goals, balancing explanations with giving students opportunities for applying and practicing the newly learnt information. To ensure continuous progress, my lessons usually start with a quiz or a quick recap of the previous lesson’s content. If desired, I provide students with further useful materials to be completed independently in between lessons. Where possible, I like to connect study material to real life examples that students can relate to. I’ve observed that when seeing the personal relevance of the subject matter, students have often shown significant learning progress, motivation and understanding. I always welcome questions and feedback. I’m very much looking forward to continue working with a range of different students!

As a Spanish citizen I adore the diversity of my country and its culture. I have travelled around Spain to discover its beauty in towns, cities as well as isolated places. What I enjoy most is that, I am able to bring Spain into the classroom. Learning a language is not only a way of communication but also a way of understanding hispanic countries better. Hello! I'm a recent architecture graduate, and I want to help your child achieve their potential and stimulate a positive attitude towards learning. It's as simple as that. In my opinion, the root of successful tuition consists of three factors: the attention the tutor pays to the student's learning methods, the passion the tutor has for the subject and the enjoyment the tutor receives from the act of teaching. My teaching methods hinge on the recognition that every child is unique. There is no "one size fits all" solution to learning, and hence I establish as quickly as possible which of the various techniques works best for my students and then apply the relevant tutoring methods. As well as maximising academic progress, this approach gives you more value for money. I know that a concept fully understood and a method embedded and consolidated through practice will arm your child with the confidence and skills they need to tackle any question or problem successfully. I also know that the key to success is effective study skills and habits. I can show your child how to organise their learning into easy to revise chunks that work for them. This is a skill that will carry them through their whole education. Anyone who knows me well knows my three main passions to be architecture, Spanish and football (because I rarely talk about anything else!). Unfortunately Tutor House don't offer football coaching, so instead I've opted to tutor the beautifully logical language of Spanish and the disciplines that underpin architecture: maths and physics. So, what makes me qualified to teach these subjects? As shown by my qualifications, I hold an A grade in both maths and physics A-Level with AQA and OCR, respectively. This knowledge is put to use daily in my job as an architectural assistant, where we use calculation and scientific reasoning to create imaginative, effective and innovative architecture that pushes materials to their physical limits. I studied Spanish up to AS-Level, receiving an A grade, and lived in Spain for 9 months last year working as an English teacher. Immersing myself in the language allowed me to learn it from a new, colloquial perspective, broadening my capability. Being the son of a teacher, I've always been close to the profession, and have learnt a lot about the process of teaching and learning through discussion with and observation of my mother. I get a sense of happiness and pride from helping people do things that they couldn't do before, so have always sought out opportunities to teach. In Spain I worked in a primary school, teaching ages 4-12 a range of subjects in the students' non-native English. It was incredibly satisfying to see how far they progressed month to month, and when I left to return to England it was sad to say goodbye; we'd built up quite the relationship. In addition I tutored young adults individually to improve their English. On returning home I have been involved in a term long programme for the organisation Archimake, which teaches children architectural design skills and inspires confidence in their creative ability. My other relevant experience includes childcare and mentoring. My positive and energetic character allowed me to build up a rapport with the children that I minded in their own homes, out and about and on their family holidays abroad. I strove to be an outstanding and trusted role model, whilst allowing them to have fun. At university I was a peer mentor to architecture students in the year below me. My role was to ensure their mental wellbeing as they adapted to university life and the intense architecture degree. Despite being a young tutor, my varied experience thus far has taught me a diverse range of skills and techniques that lend themselves to successful tutoring. I also think that my age makes me more relatable to students. In many cases I will understand and even remember the emotion behind their frustrations, allowing me to formulate a more considered and effective response. My attention to detail and thoughtful approach will provide your child with a considered tailor-made tutoring package. Meanwhile, my irrepressible passion for my chosen subjects coupled with a knowledge base formed by their intense study will facilitate productive and engaging tutoring. Finally, through my love of teaching I will try to inspire a fascination with learning in your child that will benefit them for the rest of their life. It's as simple as that.
