I am a very experienced tutor based in Central London. My enthusiasm and vibrant lessons make me an ideal choice for younger children wanting to excel in school. I specialise in the 4+ and the 11+ entrance exam, GCSE and am passionate about improving children's English skills. I also teach pupils of all ages across the globe to improve their English skills. I have over 15 years experience teaching within schools. I began as a private violin tutor at the age of 16, and worked within schools running workshops in Drama whilst at university. After graduating, I worked full time in schools across London gaining knowledge in many different systems and approaches and have taught in subjects across the field; including English, Maths, Drama and Music. My experience in Drama makes me a very effective communicator, especially with younger children wanting an exciting lesson to keep them focussed and active. I have a valid DBS and many references. I like to engage children through fun and vibrant lessons. I tailor my lessons according to my pupils and customise games to make lessons more exciting. I like children to enjoy my lessons (almost as if the learning is disguised!) and use visual guides and physical props to help children access the learning. At first I use practise papers as diagnostics and then delve into particular topics that are in need of improvement. My lessons improve pupils' self confidence and self esteem. I also have many years experience in working with SEN pupils- I am very familiar with different systems and approaches to help aid every child in their needs. Over the past year alone, my pupils have made huge improvements. My GCSE students have scored level 9s, my 11+ students are all in highly academic skills with scholarship offers, and my younger pupils are thriving and are always at the top of their class. A previous pupil (3 years old) who had little to no English, is now one of the chattiest pupils at Garden House School in Sloane Square. I have experience and pupils in St Paul's boys and girls, Westminster, Kingston Grammar, Tiffin, Alleyn's, Dulwich, Whitgift to name but a few. I have a valid DBS and many references. Testimonials: Anastasia- Pupil Parent: “I`ve changed many tutors for my daughter`s 11+ preparation, until I found Holly. She has had roaring successes with every pupil, each exceeding expectations and smashing targets. To add to this, Holly makes sure that all of her lessons are fun, interesting and interactive to make sure her students get the most out of the time they spend with her. I know Holly to always be punctual, enthusiastic and hard working, and she will always do her best for every pupil she teaches. I would thoroughly recommend Holly as a tutor, and believe that every pupil will well and truly appreciate the time they spend learning with her.”

Hi, I am a fourth-year medical student at the University College London and I recently completed an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences with Medical Anthropology. I have a strong background in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and have a deep understanding of the medical school application process. Having taken Philosophy at AS Level and Medical Anthropology as an intercalated BSc, I hold a solid foundation in essay writing and critical thinking. In my second and third years of university, I worked as a Target Medicine mentor, mentoring A Level students from disadvantaged backgrounds on their medical school applications. Topics covered included UKCat, BMAT, personal statement writing and mock interview preparation. I ensured that my mentees understood how to work tactically in order to achieve the required A Level results and how to aim for desired outcomes whilst maintaining realistic expectations. When students approached me with queries in person or via email, I enjoyed being very meticulous and encouraging with the advice that I offered in order that they felt supported during their most stressful times at school. I have experience teaching English as a foreign language to a range of age groups. A few years ago, I spent several months in Hong Kong tutoring English to primary school children on a one-to-one or group basis. I also assisted with the provision of recreational activities as I recognised the importance of making learning an enjoyable experience. Later, I taught English to international students through a Church programme and to elderly people at a Chinese elderly centre in Manchester. I have volunteered with disabled high school students as an activity leader with KEEN London and provided support to residents diagnosed with moderate to severe mental health problems at various charities such as the Single Homeless Project and Olallo House. Music is a passion of mine; I attended the junior department of the Royal Northern College of Music during high school and achieved Grade 8 in both the piano and the violin at the age of 14. I am a very enthusiastic teacher and enjoy sharing my interest with others. Thank you for reading this and I hope to hear from you soon!

I am a very positive, warm and engaging teacher and my teaching style incorporates lots of praise and encouragement to get the best outcome for the student. I love teaching and it brings me great joy when I can see a student progress!

I was brought up always having a tutor by my side to guide me through my studies. Ever since I started my university degree, I saw a great opportunity to give back to young people by becoming a mentor. I have worked with loads of young people from schools, colleges and universities around the Midlands. I do not only focus on core subjects but also areas such as career paths, skills development, revision techniques and other issues students might have. My range of experience is what separates me from other tutors.
