Currently, I am a Ph.D student in creative writing living in Manchester but I am available for Zoom lessons only. I am a published writer/poet and also run a successful small publishing press, focusing on writing in the experimental calibre. My experience tutoring began working with a fifteen year old girl a 4 years ago who was struggling with social anxiety and panic disorder. She was unable to go to school and I stepped in to help her pass her GCSEs. The whole experience shaped how I could help influence the student in an engaging and sensitive way, and inspire them to enjoy developing their knowledge. Also, as an experienced editor, it is in my nature to help the individual try and find their best way to express themselves in both an academic and creatively. I specialise in the following: ENGLISH LITERATURE: - Poetry - Shakespeare - The novel - Fiction and Drama - Literal and inferential comprehension - Critical reading - Evaluation of a writer’s choice of vocabulary, grammatical and structures features. - Comparing and contrasting texts - Revision/exam preparation and coursework/dissertation help ENGLISH LANGUAGE: - Critical reading and comprehension - Summary and synthesis - Evaluation of a writer’s choice of vocabulary, form, grammatical and structural features. - Comparing and Contrasting texts - Producing clear and coherent text - Writing for impact and purpose (selecting, organising and emphasising facts, ideas and key points; citing evidence and quotation effectively and pertinently to support views; creating emotional impact; using language creatively, imaginatively and persuasively, including rhetorical devices. - Creative Writing (in the form of "workshopping" and experimentation fo devices and ideas.) (If necessary, I have the experience to help students who suffer from anxiety disorder and issues surrounding self-confidence. Providing a tutoring experience that is aligned with the students personal needs and motivations) Please feel free to message me if you have any queries.

Are you hoping to apply to top UK Art and Design undergraduate courses within the next year? Contact me to get a head start preparing your portfolio, and get motivated by working on a project outside of school. I also offer help with Art and Design study from GCSE level and up, and literacy skills for primary school age children. However big or small your goal, I would love to support you in achieving it. I studied Fine Art to degree level at Central Saint Martins College, and I am currently studying MA Photography at the Royal College of Art. Portfolio preparation for art and design university entrance is my speciality. In the last year my clients have gained places on top art courses at Central Saint Martins, Goldsmiths, Brighton, Nottingham Trent and Kingston. I am committed to education and the arts, and since graduating from the University of the Arts London in 2014 Prior to becoming a tutor I was employed as Archives and Special Collections Assistant at University of the Arts London, supporting teaching, learning and research for students of a wide range of academic abilities and needs. This role included giving workshops to students on a one-to-one basis, and in larger groups. I was also a guest tutor for the MA Culture, Criticism and Curation course at Central Saint Martins. Before my role at the university was made full time I was able to volunteer with the charity Beanstalk as a Reading 321 Helper, supporting three children twice weekly to improve their literacy. These were children in Primary School who had been identified as being behind with their reading skills. I have also been involved with The Girls Network Mentoring Scheme. If your child is struggling with literacy, and needs to find enjoyment in reading, contact me. Coming from a creative, academic background I appreciate that everyone has their own style of learning. I like to engage children with their own creativity in order to assist them with problem solving and finding their unique way to reach their academic goals.

I am confident about sharing my knowledge and experience with others while motivating and giving the freedom in self-exploration and experimentation - at the same time having a structure and specific action plan that allows the best possible development of the students and providing support and motivating critique. I have been teaching Art Theory and Practice for 10 years now, helping students with Portfolio Preparation and Applications to art universities and competitions as well as teaching children who are only making their first steps in the art world. Hi, my name is Melissa and I am a freelance illustrator as well as a qualified teacher. I have worked within the arts for several years, and achieved a Masters Degree in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts, a Bachelors Degree in Illustration, as well as a PGCE in Further Education. My tutoring has predominantly been to students who are studying at pre-degree level while on an Art Foundation course or equivalent, who are interested in specialising in subjects such as Illustration, Art, and Visual Communication. I am very happy to help with portfolio selection and preparation, as well as personal statement writing for University applications. I have delivered many workshops which aim to teach students new skills, and to be more creative in their drawing and image making. This is particularly helpful for students who feel stuck or need help generating ideas for their project work. I have worked with many different students and I am very patient and understanding in my tutoring. I have a passion for helping others learn, and to achieve their goals. Please get in touch if you are looking for a kind, enthusiastic and passionate tutor to help support creative achievement.

I have 4 years experience of tutoring, coupled with 7 years classroom experience, working in independent schools. An Oxford Classics graduate with a PGCE from Cambridge University, I have taught Latin, Classics, Ancient Greek and English in a number of local independent secondarily schools as well as in private tuition. I love tutoring and developing the pedagogical one-to-one relationships with tutees. I am knowledgeable in my areas of expertise, organised, approachable and patient. I explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner, tailoring my approach to each individual student. I make lessons enjoyable and challenging through this approach, setting good examples and ways of working for tutees to emulate as they become gradually more independent with an approach that works for them. I set high standards for my tutees and have a proven successful track record of my tutees achieving the grades they need and want. I am reliable and a good communicator with a range of ages, backgrounds and abilities. I commit time to thoroughly communicating with parents and other clients about the progress and attainment of the tutee. I am also flexible and able to work round tutees' other commitments and schedules. I am easy to contact and aim to respond to enquiries within an hour.

Do you want the advantage of real world experience? Having worked in the creative world of advertising for 20 years since graduating from one of the world's renowned universities, I have been teaching students from over 10 different countries across the Middle East and the UK. I have successfully tutored young learners, adults and undergraduates, both privately and in colleges to improve, strive and succeed. After graduating from University of the Arts London with a BA (Hons) in Communication I went on to work as an Art Director and then later as a Creative Director in advertising where I managed, art directed and wrote advertising scripts for radio and TV and digital media. Along the way, I also started training clients for their marketing and design requirements. I worked in London for fifteen years and in 2008 went to Dubai as a Creative Director for a multinational advertising agency. In 2012 I got married and went traveling with his wife and started teaching English with Dubai as a base. That same year I got a post teaching the academic English course to undergraduates at the Dubai branch of Shiraz University, one of Iran’s most prestigious universities. This was an incredibly challenging job with large classes of terrifyingly bright young adults studying subjects as diverse as Engineering and Architecture to Finance and Chemistry!
A baptism by fire like no other. Following that, I instructed at three colleges in Dubai as a freelancer. I ended up specializing in Business English, particularly in the areas of presentation skills and writing. I studied the IELTS exam and became the prime instructor for this at another college in Dubai. The classes were huge, but a lot of fun! Once a week the class was divided into a smaller Academic group, which I also planned lessons for and taught. These students were predominantly medical professionals looking to work for the NHS in the UK. Since returning to London from Dubai in 2016, I have been teaching as a freelancer in London colleges as well as privately. Having worked in the advertising industry for almost twenty years, I feel this gives me a natural edge in the education field because of my ability to effectively communicate difficult ideas and concepts in a fun and engaging and above all, memorable way. My approach is very student – centered as a result. Online, The Red Ink is now an invaluable resource for English language students looking to take the IELTS exam as well as a forum for writing and general English language knowledge.

Hello! I have experience with one-on-one tuition across the humanities, with a specialty in English language and literature. I have helped students tackle GCSE exam preparation to proof-reading degree dissertations to helping adults with developmental disabilities write fiction. I would be thrilled to help you, too. I am able to support SEN students across a range of areas, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, aspergers, ADHD and more. Whether it's specific help needed on a set text or guidance required for exam technique, I am here to work with you to improve your grades! I am a filmmaker and fiction writer so I am very happy to provide help with creative writing and general writing skills, too. I have been a teaching assistant for graduate-level classes at Columbia University in the United States, helping students to hone their writing and editing skills. I received a BA from Bristol University in English Literature and a master's from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where I was a Pulitzer Fellow, awarded to the top five students in a cohort of 250. Apart from my teaching experience, I have worked for an HBO documentary show in New York, made award-winning documentaries and narrative short films, worked on the arts desk at The Daily Telegraph newspaper in London and as a reporter at The Tibet Post in northern India. I have written about films for GQ and HuffPost, and my fiction is published in The Stinging Fly, an Irish literary magazine. In my spare time, I love to read (anything and everything, with a preference for American fiction), watch films, spend time in nature, meditate and cook for family and friends. I also love animals, and have a 10-year-old cat named Stevie. I look forward to working together!

I am a practising artist offering lessons in Art and Textiles, support with personal statements, portfolios, critical and contextual studies and art therapy to those interested and studying Art and Textiles. I have over 2 years experience of teaching online, tutoring many Year 10 and 11 Art and Textile students, college A-Level students, Higher Education students and those looking to enter the world of art for the first time, helping them to develop their knowledge and skills through the formal elements of art and guide them through the creative process within their chosen area of study. BOOK LESSONS FOR: drawing, painting, printmaking, colour, sculpture, installation, experimenting, constructed textiles (basic plain knit, weave and felting), surface pattern, printed and dyed textiles, dyestuffs, basic machine stitching, appliqué, dye sublimation (heat transfer), yarns, threads and fabric types, idea development, coursework, annotation, personal statement, essays and portfolio. BEFORE BOOKING: Textile Design is not the same as Fashion Design, although the subjects do overlap. If you need help with pattern cutting or garment construction then you will need a Fashion Design Tutor. However, I can help with idea development. With a First Class Bachelor of Arts Degree in Surface and Textile Design and Post Compulsory PGCE in Art & Design (16+) I am qualified to teach at FE and HE (Diploma and Degree) level and happy to assist with GCSE and A-Level. I have experience formulating project briefs for FE Fine Art and Textile students, developing and delivering them through workshops and 1:1 tutorials and inspired BA Fashion with Business students as a visiting lecturer at Croydon College, London. My teaching style is friendly and informative. I facilitate learning through motivation, encouragement and praise. I believe that all great and life-long learning begins with curiosity, passion and research. Lessons usually start with discussing current work and then move on to a session that meets the needs of the student. This will involve artist research and visual inspiration for creative lessons and a 'critique' at the end to discuss how it went and how to move forward. Lessons can be one-off or on-going and would ideally begin with a free video chat. This will enable the student and the tutor to meet for a short consultation and make sure that the needs of the student can be met and the student is happy to continue. I have knowledge and experience of Edexcel BTEC National Diploma in Fine Art curriculum and Exam board and familiar with AQA GCSE Art and Textiles. I have industrial experience as a knitwear designer at several London and Brighton based textile studios, selling designs in New York and Florence. I have exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the UK and Italy and lived and trained in Barcelona, gaining a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Qualified with Trinity International Examinations Board at Oxford House College Barcelona, 2002, I developed ways of creative teaching and learning to large groups of mixed ability classes in the UK and Spain.
