Hi there! I have a MSc in theoretical physics at Imperial College. I graduated from the University of Bath in 2015 with a first class degree in Physics, and spent a year on placement working at a Laser facility in Oxford as part of my degree. Whilst undertaking my postgraduate studies I'm residing at my family home in St Johns Wood and am willing to travel far and wide to reach a wide range of tutees. I grew up in London and attended Highgate School and UCS where I achieved 9 A/A* grades at GCSE and A-levels in Physics (A), Maths (A), and Economics (B). Whilst attending school I received some personal tuition, which was a great help and took vast amounts of pressure from my shoulders; allowing me to pursue extra-curricular activities. This was extraordinarily beneficial when it came to applying to University, and provided a solid base for me to chase my academic dream. In my leisure time I like to spend time broadening my knowledge outside of physics, taking a keen interest in philosophy and literature; utilising the Imperial’s substantial offline and online resources to accommodate my interest. In my year off between secondary education and University, I traveled to China for two months to study Kung-Fu. Before heading out to the far east, I took a beginners course in mandarin so I could communicate with the locals, to make the experience more fulfilling and enjoyable. Although Physics is one of my main interests and the topic of discussion in most scenarios of my day-to-day life, I feel it is important to find some separation and pursue other areas of interest. Before damaging both my knees, a few years ago I formed a Sunday league football team with a few old friends that I help run. I am a keen film fan, an avid follower of the comedy circuit, and somewhat of a home chef. Whilst studying in Bath I volunteered for a programme called 'Lab in a Lorry', an organisation I found through the university. They tour the country in a large mobile unit kitted-out with several experiments and interactive demonstrations to bring science and mathematics to pre-GCSE children with the aim of peaking their interest. It is a joint venture of the Institute of Physics and the Schlumberger Foundation. I was able to volunteer several times and was privileged to be able to teach a wide range of age groups, which was vital experience for me as a soft introduction to teaching. During my time teaching I ran several practical demonstrations for the kids ranging from an introduction to fibre optics and their use in modern medicine and surgery, to an insight into polarisation of electromagnetic radiation and how it alters how we see our Sun. These experiences were extremely fulfilling, and encouraged me to become a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) ambassador whilst on placement in Oxford. This involved running several outreach programmes at local (and not so local) schools, with the intention of making science fun and more relevant to young children. Myself, accompanied by several other placement students, exposed scientific thinking and novel ideas to children of ages 6 to 12. Some of these activities included: telescopic observation of the moon, an insight into the specific electromagnetic dependent appearance of galaxies, the formation of stars and other stellar activities, as well as several other aeronautic and space based demos. I began giving private tuition in 2015 and have expanded my client base tenfold since starting out. My students have seen vast improvement under my supervision, with an average grade jump of over two grade boundaries. I have taught students from GCSE level all the way up to final year university students. The structure of my lessons is as follows: I will dedicate a third to one half of the allotted time to an overview of the method or theory that is to be covered in the session. The time dependence directly related to the difficulty and complexity of the subject at hand. This subset of time will be filled by an interactive slideshow covering the topic and basic examples of applications to everyday life. After this, I will introduce a few simpler example questions, that I will run through with my student in detail before handing the reigns over to them to answer multiple exam-style questions; for which I will give hints and review the necessary material before going through the method of the marker. This is a tried and tested successful technique. Upon approach of the examination period, the tutoring sessions will change to entirely question and answer based conditioning exercises. These will be example questions taken from previous papers and my personal stash of textbooks and notes. This method of teaching has worked extremely well with me over the last 10 years, and also with my previous tutees; and I have full faith that it will do wonders for future students too.

I qualified as a science teacher at Oxford University in 2001 having previously studied for a physics degree at Durham University. Since qualifying I have held various teaching posts as both science and maths teacher. More recently I have worked in the Hospital Education as a maths and science tutor. My role is to deliver lessons at both KS3 to KS5 in Maths and Physics and KS4 in Biology and Chemistry. I teach students in their homes, face to face and also online both individually and in small groups. During my time in the Hospital Education service I have developed different teaching techniques to suit each individual student as they have a wide range of learning needs ranging from severe mental health issues to chronic illnesses. I really enjoy my job and I have found it a very rewarding experience as I can see their improvement which in many cases have resulted in their reintegration into school. My hobbies are playing the guitar, football and rowing.

Teaching is my Passion but just a profession. I started teaching at a tender age of 12 and since then I've been teaching students from the age of 3 up to 74. I have taught Business, Economics, Accounting, Math, English, Sociology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Politics, Geography and History for GCSE/ OL and Advanced Level examinations for popular local and international exam boards including Cambridge, Edexcel, OCR and AQA. During my 22 years of formal school teaching career and more than 25 years of tutoring, I have produced most World Prize Winners who scored 600/600 for the above subjects in the above mentioned examinations consecutively over many years. I have also lectured at Universities and tutored for undergraduates, post graduates and PhD students and helped with their assignments and assessments over the years. My classes are interactive and fun to learn which make the students love not just like the subject. I discuss a range of past exam questions, self-prepared exams and training the students to improve their writing skills in theory subjects and improve their analytical skills in other. My most important asset of all is my flexibility and adaptability to the individual requirements and needs of each student and preparing myself accordingly. This skill I have gained by teaching students of all culture and age groups from 63 different countries. Demo lessons I’ve attached some links below of my demo lessons which will give an idea on my teaching methodology. Please feel free to contact me if you have any more queries. I am a fully Qualified Secondary School Teacher (Dip. Ed. UNSW, Sydney Australia, 2011 - Science) and I am an accredited secondary school teacher in New South Wales, Australia. Over the last 15 years, I have been involved in classroom teaching (after 2019) and private tuition (2008-2019) in the areas of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics for Exam/College Preparation as well as University Level Courses. I have experience in the UK (GCSE/iGCSE & A-Levels - AQA, Edexcel, OCR exam boards), the International Baccalaureate curriculum in Physics (SL/HL) and Mathematics (SL/HL including the new curriculum), the Australian HSC (Year 11 & 12) School System as well as Oxbridge Admission tests (PAT/STEP/MAT/ENGAA). From the USA Curriculum, I am quite familiar with the AP AB and BC Calculus and AP Physics 1, 2, and C. I also have experience in the USA College/Universities Admission tests, such as the GRE Subject Tests (Physics and Mathematics) preparation as well as SAT and GMAT (Math/Quantitative/Analytic sections). Employment Summary I am currently a full-time Mathematics Specialist at ONCAMPUS, University of Southampton. ONCAMPUS teach pre-university programmes leading to a wide range of undergraduate and Master's degrees at leading universities across the UK, USA and mainland Europe. My most recent assignment was as Physics Lecturer at the Immerse Education Summer Academic Program at Queens College, University of Cambridge. This is a pre-university programme designed to facilitate engaged and motivated students to explore their subject in greater depth, providing them with insight into what it is like to study advanced content within their subject area at Oxbridge Universities. During the period from January to June of 2023, I was a Math and Physics teacher at Northridge School, Mexico City, Mexico (US curriculum). That assignment entailed both teaching in middle school (grades 7,8 ) and high school (grades 10, 11). Prior to this position (academic year 2022-23), I was a Math Teacher at the program “Swiss Semester”, Zermatt Switzerland (following US curriculum) and prior to that, I was a Math Teacher at the University of Brighton International College (on-site) and Kaplan International College London (remote) (GCSE/iGCSE and A-Level curriculum). Before these positions (academic years 2019-22) I was again a math teacher at the Swiss Semester, Zermatt Switzerland (on leave from Kaplan International College London), and I held a teaching position at the Department of Science and Engineering at Kaplan International College London, based at London Bridge, London, UK since August 2019 (GCSE/iGCSE and A-Level curriculum). The program Swiss Semester takes place annually and its duration is only from September to December. Also both Kaplan International College London and University of Brighton College are part of the Kaplan group. Hence the above positions are part of contracts with just two employers. Professional Experience My position at Northridge School, Mexico, included teaching Mathematics at the Middle School (Grades 7 and 8) and High School (Grade 10) as well as High School Physics (Grade 11). The School follows a loose US curriculum. During my six-month tenure at the Northridge School in Mexico, I made significant contributions to the academic environment while facing challenges in terms of student discipline and the school's focus on religious/music and sports activities rather than academics. Despite my dedication and commitment to the role, I made the decision not to extend my contract due to the school's lack of an academically respectable position and my preference for a more balanced academic environment. Additionally, I found myself primarily teaching middle school, which did not align with my initial preferences. Overall, my experience at Northridge School provided valuable insights and reinforced my desire to pursue opportunities that align more closely with my professional goals and interests. My previous position in the Swiss Semester entailed teaching math at the secondary level. The syllabus taught is mainly pre-calculus and Advanced Placement Calculus (also known as AP Calculus AB / BC) is a set of two distinct Advanced Placement Calculus courses and exams offered by the American nonprofit organization College Board. Swiss Semester is a coeducational program of academic, personal, and physical challenge for roughly fifty high school sophomores from the finest independent and public schools in the United States and beyond. Swiss Semester’s campus is Zermatt, Switzerland, an outdoor paradise that epitomizes the security, stability, healthfulness, and natural beauty for which Switzerland is renowned. In regard to the previous teaching role at Kaplan International College London: This role included teaching Pre-Master’s students Statistics, and Foundation Physics, and Mathematics. During the academic year 2019-2020, I was the Pre-Master's Advanced Statistics Module (PM608) coordinator. The module consisted of two intakes: The September Cohort and the January Cohort respectively - The duration of each is 20 weeks apart from some extra 10 weeks where students have to participate in the "Active Learning Weeks" as required by Kaplan. Each Cohort consists of approximately 100 students. Teaching is done in smaller groups of 20-30 students in a collaborative, interactive, "inverted classroom" setup. Each group has three hours of teaching every week on the topic. Over this period, I was in charge of the teaching curriculum, exam preparation, and online and offline content development for this particular course. Apart from the A-Level math courses, I have several teaching hours related to A-Level Physics (equivalent to Year 11, 12 Australian HSC Physics). During this period I taught mostly face-to-face but given the circumstances, a small part of the instruction during the national lockdowns was done online. Apart from the previous role, I am a part-time Private Tutor in Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics. A large part of my work is related to University Level tuition but also the last two grades of High School (exam preparation). Teaching Approach Obviously, apart from the context itself and the expertise in the related fields, there are other essential components of successful teaching like personality, enthusiasm, versatility, appreciation of the importance of outreach, and most important a relation of understanding between the lecturer and the students. Apart from the previous, I think that it is crucial to provide students with a working knowledge of physical systems and to teach them problem-solving skills for building upon this knowledge. Teaching a person to think analytically is at the core of what a student should take away from any science or mathematics course. For students not majoring in physics/math, it is important to teach them how science affects their daily lives and how to make informed decisions about it based on the information available. For physics/math majors it is crucial to teach them the knowledge pertinent to their course of study and how scientists solve difficult problems using approximation, computational, and other quantitative methods. These important tools are invaluable to future researchers because they aid in the careful design of experiments and in determining the predictions of a model or theory. I would also strive to cover a range of topics in my courses. This would enable me to teach an array of different methods for approaching physical problems and to demonstrate how similar approaches can be applied to problems from disparate fields. Furthermore, being a theoretician, I am well suited to teach physics majors how to construct theories and models, to derive predictions from these models, and to test these predictions against empirical data they have collected from the literature or obtained in the laboratory. From my experience, I learned the importance of engaging students through examples and of pitching material at a level that assumes intelligence but not necessarily knowledge, blending the known with the unknown in a combination that gives the student the feeling of possibility rather than that of impossibility that formal and impressive methods may impose. I would also enjoy teaching introductory physics courses. Although it is often challenging to teach introductory students, it is a challenge I thoroughly enjoy. Preparing lectures and solution sets forces me to communicate fundamental ideas in simple terms and to think deeply again about some of the most basic principles in physics and math. During my graduate school period, I had the chance to become familiar with the system of tutorials that some of the British universities offer. This much more personalized system provides the opportunity of outside-of-the-classroom discussion and interaction which are a crucial part of the learning process. Many students who are reserved in class, ask excellent questions in smaller settings and thus, learn much more. I greatly value the instruction and mentorship I received while in college and feel strongly about providing quality education to current and future students. In regards to teaching international students, I am aware and over the years I have used a number of strategies in order to make classroom management and lesson delivery more effective. For example, I always communicate classroom expectations and policies clearly from the beginning of the course. I always try to speak clearly and be concise in my instructions (verbal or written), provide vocabulary at the beginning of a new topic and allow students to use a dictionary and other equipment that would assist them in the learning process. I always encourage students to make use of office hours and make course materials available in print and on the electronic blackboard. Furthermore, I am trying to incorporate opportunities for collaborative learning. Over the years I have become a supporter of the “inverted classroom” approach, especially for the students that are used to a “lecture” type of teaching style or teachers that are distant and authoritative.

I am a current undergraduate student at Durham University in my second year of an integrated masters degree in Physics and I achieved A*/A*/A/B in my A level exams in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Music. I have a year and a half tutoring experience from GCSE to pre-university level and have also tutored adult learners looking to become mature students. My lessons are conducted online, and I will spend our first 15 minute meeting getting to know you and how I can best help you achieve your goals. Subsequent lessons will be tailored to the student, focusing on either learning new concepts, revision, practising exam technique or a combination of all three. As the student, you guide which topics we cover but I will offer advice if you are unsure as to what would be beneficial. As a current student myself, my sessions have a relaxed atmosphere and rather than having a 'teacher' I am more like a peer mentor. Having recently sat my own GCSE and A level exams, I am well acquainted with a variety of specifications, including international qualifications, and what life in school is currently like. In my spare time, I am a keen musician, playing the cello with multiple university orchestras and singing in one of the choirs. I also enjoy learning languages including German, French and Russian.
