Initial Teacher Trainee at the London Academy with a 1st Class Honours degree in Economics and Mathematics. Over 2 years of tutoring experience in several areas but with key experience in Math from KS1-KS5 and 11+ especially with the GL and CEM exams. I also have a lot of experience from my time as a SEND Assistant in a high school from working with students with learning limitation and have been able to allow them to achieve their true potential through various methods. I believe the key thing I can always do is to make the material accessible and personable so that the student can make a connection with his work and also understand the steps he needs to take to get there using the knowledge he already has.

I'm an experienced science and language tutor with more than 10 years of teaching. SCIENCES I'm doing a PhD in Biology at the University of Oxford and have taught both within the university and in private summer schools in Oxford on the topic. I teach both high school students who need help preparing for exams, as well as university students who want to go in-depth within a certain subject or understand course material. My methods focus on applied learning, which means I'll help you understand why it is important to learn something and what you can do with that knowledge, not just how to learn. My teaching method for A-level students focuses on problem-based learning similar to university admissions interviews. I am comfortable teaching younger students in a variety of science subjects, including students with learning difficulties. You can expect a very fun, hands-on approach to learning. LANGUAGES I have extensive experience in teaching IELTS and other language exams (CPE, TOEFL). I have taught students successfully at the last minute. My approach is very tailored to the individual, so we would focus on the most effective techniques for the student. I have studied Spanish for over 10 years and obtained the highest certificate in Spanish as Foreign Language (DELE) with distinction. I was awarded first prize in many Spanish international competitions. For four years, I did courses in Spanish geography, history and culture, and I normally use what I learned to make my classes interactive and more than a way of teaching a language. I like immersing people in the Spanish culture, with its food, dances, famous painters and explorers. Have taught Spanish as foreign language for more than ten years, in one-to-one and one-to-few sessions. I adapt my style to the students I work with - for one, it can be all about having fun while translating lyrics of famous songs and watching Spanish short films (audio, experiential learners); for another it can be about rigorously tackling grammar and crafting complex stories. Regardless of the approach, you should expect that after a year of weekly/fortnightly classes you would advance by two levels (e.g. A2 to B2). I wholeheartedly recommend trying learning a language from a non-native speaker, as the way a foreign language is learned is very different from a native tongue. If you speak foreign languages, you know what I mean. If not, just give it a go!

I am in the third year of my PhD in Mathematical Logic. I have experience teaching mathematics up to advanced undergraduate level. Thinking about mathematics and how best to teach mathematics is one of my passions and I am excited to develop it further through tutoring. Before starting my PhD I completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Philosophy as well as a masters degree in Pure Mathematics and Mathematical logic, receiving first class in both. Prior to those I took A level Maths and Further Maths, receiving A* in both. My aim with tutoring is always to go beyond teaching the particulars of this or that exam and develop in students the ability to break down concepts, clearly communicate ideas, and think about problems in a systematic way.

Hi! I'm Ben and I am a Cambridge University masters student about to start my fourth year of physics, specialising in theoretical and mathematical modules. I have a deep passion for maths and physics, and perhaps an even greater passion for communicating my love and knowledge of the subjects, helping students to gain intuition and insight into the workings of both the abstract world of numbers and the highly mathematical world around us! Generally, I want to help you gain an intuitive understanding of the subject (as opposed to memorising how to do specific problems) as I strongly believe that this is the best way to boost your grade at any level. However, I am extremely flexible in my teaching methods depending on the student and the student's wishes. I will evaluate what I think you need help with and tailor the lessons accordingly. Although I prefer to focus on gaining a deeper and more intuitive understanding, I understand that you have a final goal: to achieve a certain grade in your exams. Luckily for you, I have taken maths and physics exams every year for the last 7 years and use the maths that I will be teaching you every day in my degree! Moreover, I have ‘been through the system' as recently as 2016 (when I took my A Levels) so I know what it takes; I achieved an A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. I strongly believe that, having repeatedly worked through and overcome the common stumbling blocks of school level maths and physics myself, I can help you to do the same. This year I achieved a high 2.i in my Natural Sciences BA at Cambridge University. I am excited to start next year's course when I will be studying general relativity, quantum field theory and particle physics! I also love languages, music, tennis and cycling and have kept these up throughout my degree. So whether you want to boost your grades or want that extra challenge that you do not receive at school I can help you to look at the subject in a new and intuitive way.

Hi. My name is Anisah and I am 22 years old. I graduated from Durham University in July 2020 with a first class hons. degree in Mathematics. Prior to this, my mathematics qualifications include: GCSE maths - A* GCSE additional maths - A* with distinction A-level maths - A* A-level further maths - A* I have 3 years of experience tutoring mathematics students both at GCSE and A-level standards. I am eager to take on new students and work closely with them on a regular basis to help achieve their personal goals. I prefer to conduct my lessons based on what the student wishes to cover. In general, it is more productive if a student comes to each lesson with a general topic area in mind that they require additional help with. I am happy for the student to contact me with a suggested topic prior to each lesson so that I can prepare exercises in advance. I believe that working through lots of problems is the best way to fully grasp a topic and this is what I would aim to do during each lesson. This however can be modified according to the students individual requirements. Having experience many years of it myself, I understand that studying can be a very stressful time. Therefore, outside of the scheduled lessons I am happy for the students to contact me should they need a quick bit of help before the next lesson. Overall I aim to create the studying experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

Physics masters grad from UCL achieving a Distinction (83.2%). I also have a BSc (Hons) Physics from QMUL graduating with a First-Class Honours. Currently, I'm a nanotechnology PhD researcher conducting an industrial CASE doctoral project jointly with the University of Surrey - Advanced Technology Institute (ATI), National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and Stemnovate. My greatest passion in life is learning and cultivating knowledge which led to success at university thanks to my amazing lecturers. This is the backbone of my commitment to teaching my students, regardless of their abilities. I have been tutoring and teaching for 5 years in various settings – tutoring or mentoring small and large groups, private individual tutoring, and classroom teaching. I have experience in teaching a range of levels such as primary, GCSE, A-Level and more recently university level. Through this, I have nearly 800 hours worth of tutoring experience. My past clients have seen success in gaining improved results when sitting their final exams have gone on to achieve higher grades. I have also run a tutoring programme at QMUL called ME Tutors where I rebranded the group, kept track of finances, completed grants & expenses forms and recruited new volunteers. As a group, we volunteered at local East London schools to help students with GCSE Mathematics. I have been very humbled to attend such great teaching environments and universities and to be able to express my passion by passing on knowledge to the next generation. I'm offering to tutor A Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics as well as GCSE Mathematics and Physics. I'm also offering to tutor university level Physics in topics such as Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Computing, General Relativity, Condensed Matter/Solid-State Physics, Group Theory, Complex Analysis etc. I conduct my lessons online through platforms such as Skype or Discord and would look to target areas that the student can't quite grasp. I have a setup which allows me to deliver online lessons effectively as I use an online whiteboard as well as a graphics tablet to handwrite everything. This allows me to directly show the methods to the students and replicate an in-class teaching environment.

TAILORED APPROACH TO TUTORING I did very "sciencey" subjects at school and, because I had broad interests, I always lamented how the UK school system forced you to specialise so early. I've more than made up for that at university where I earned a place at Cambridge for natural sciences, which is perhaps the broadest course possible - essentially ranging from history to physics. I know how dull some of the school curriculum can be but, having done a wide range of subjects at university, I know that things get much more exciting later on: a lesson which seems boring at school might be very interesting at degree level. I hope to pass the enthusiasm I've gained, from studying engaging university subjects, on to the school students I tutor, and help them find in their school learning the enthusiasm that I now have in my university career. I hope to enable my tutees to have as enjoyable an academic career as I’ve had, by helping them find the things that really excite them in their subjects. This approach will guide the student as they successfully pursue their academic interests as far as they wish to take them, whether that means simply making the most of their school education or going on to excel at a top university. In all cases, I bring the philosophy of individual and attentive focus on the student, which I have experienced in the Cambridge supervision environment, to the private tuition I offer. EXPERIENCE I am currently working as a full-time online tutor. I have extensive experience of preparing students for entrance to top universities, including Oxbridge. Drawing upon my own experience as a Cambridge applicant and undergraduate, I offer insights into the admissions tests and interviews required for such institutions. This ensures my tutees are able to maximise their chance of admission to an exciting course at their choice of university. I bring the same ethos to the GCSE and A level science and maths I tutor, and strive to ensure my tutees not only perform their best in their exams, but also find their school learning as rewarding and enjoyable as possible. Having studied maths, physics, chemistry and materials science as part of my Cambridge natural sciences degree, I am able to tutor students working towards admission to any university maths or physical sciences course. Previously, I have helped students prepare for a range of courses, including mathematics and natural sciences at Cambridge, physics at Oxford, and materials science and engineering at Imperial College London. Additionally, I tutor physics, chemistry, maths, and further maths to A level (and GCSE) standard, as well as the international equivalents of these. Having done a little neurobiology at undergraduate level also, I am no stranger to the biological side of the sciences and am well equipped to tutor separate, or combined, GCSE science. BACKGROUND Growing up in the north of England, I was often frustrated by the lack of challenging study that was provided at my local primary school. I increasingly found myself working, independently, outside of the school’s curriculum in order to keep engaged with my learning and make academic progress. This work paid off, and I won a scholarship to the secondary school of my choice, without which my family would never have been able to afford the school’s fees. I continued working hard, including outside of the curriculum, and I benefitted greatly from the extra guidance the school provided to aid my academic study. Thanks to this, I achieved the equivalent of 10 A*s at GCSE, alongside an A in AS level French, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award. This was followed by 4 A*s at A level (in each of maths, further maths, physics and chemistry) and an A* in the London Institute of Banking and Finance’s Level 3 Certificate in Financial Studies. During this time, I earned a Merit in round one of the British Mathematical Olympiad and a Gold in the UK Chemistry Olympiad. I also hold two professional-standard music diplomas (the ARSM on saxophone and the dipABRSM on clarinet), which were both completed while still at school. From secondary school, I went on to study natural sciences at Peterhouse, Cambridge. I have successfully completed the first year, during which I studied maths, physics, chemistry and materials science. Although this is a very wide-ranging course, it also does not compromise on the depth to which each science can be studied; it has been a great pleasure to engage with a plethora of scientific subjects at a university level. I am currently taking a year away from Cambridge in order to work full-time as an online tutor. On my return to Cambridge, I intend to specialise in neurobiology and experimental psychology, as well as the history and philosophy of science. However, I also hope to continue working as an online tutor in the coming years (at least in a part-time capacity). When I'm not tutoring, I pursue an interest in science outside of (as well as within) my tutoring career by reading around my subjects and by solving additional problems. Another serious interest of mine is music, and I have had tremendous fun playing in the Cambridge University Wind Orchestra. I also enjoy rowing regularly, for both Leeds Rowing Club and Peterhouse Boat Club, depending on where I am based at the time, and I play a little recreational chess. Additionally, something that is perhaps unexpected of a scientist such as myself, I helped found a poetry society during my time at university, and I enjoy writing submissions in my spare time to present at society meetings.

Looking for your perfect Further Maths tutor?

What is Further Maths?

It’s a lot less scary than it sounds.

Further Maths simply refers to the advanced study of Maths at GCSE or A-Level. It builds on your current knowledge of Maths and just takes it one step further.

Sometimes the step up from Maths to Further Maths can require a little extra help. A private maths tutor can help you to understand advanced trigonometry, calculus and algebra and bridge the gap.

If you’re looking to study Mathematics at a top University, having an A-Level in Further Maths can be highly favourable. Being good at Maths gives you the ability to solve problems, think laterally and figure out solutions.

Maths skills are also very desirable to employers. Maths can lead you into Engineering, Accounting, Economics or even Law.

More and more students are choosing to study Further Maths, recognising the brilliant skills and knowledge it can offer.

If you’re enthusiastic about Maths, a Further Maths qualification is perfect! Tutor House can set you up with an experienced Maths tutor, who’ll be able to explain complex Maths problems with ease.
