Hi, I am a fourth-year medical student at the University College London and I recently completed an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences with Medical Anthropology. I have a strong background in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and have a deep understanding of the medical school application process. Having taken Philosophy at AS Level and Medical Anthropology as an intercalated BSc, I hold a solid foundation in essay writing and critical thinking. In my second and third years of university, I worked as a Target Medicine mentor, mentoring A Level students from disadvantaged backgrounds on their medical school applications. Topics covered included UKCat, BMAT, personal statement writing and mock interview preparation. I ensured that my mentees understood how to work tactically in order to achieve the required A Level results and how to aim for desired outcomes whilst maintaining realistic expectations. When students approached me with queries in person or via email, I enjoyed being very meticulous and encouraging with the advice that I offered in order that they felt supported during their most stressful times at school. I have experience teaching English as a foreign language to a range of age groups. A few years ago, I spent several months in Hong Kong tutoring English to primary school children on a one-to-one or group basis. I also assisted with the provision of recreational activities as I recognised the importance of making learning an enjoyable experience.
