What does a tutor do?
An IB English tutor will help you improve in the areas of literature you struggle with. Whether that's identifying the metre of a poem or creating a strong English essay plan, a private English tutor will identify areas of weakness and figure out a plan to solve them.
Is tutoring worth it?
Our tutors have helped hundreds of students improve their knowledge and achieve top grades in their International Baccalaureate exams. Private tutoring is proven to increase students' confidence.
How many sessions do I need?
Tutoring works best when you have regular sessions. A tutor will work out what areas you need to focus on and set out a plan of action. Most students will have a tutor for at least one hour a week.
Need an IB English tutor?
English Literature is a crucial subject for developing students verbal and written communication skills. Students are expected to be able to discuss and write about the texts they are studying. The English International Baccalaureate requires students to study and be able to analyse prose texts, poetry and drama texts that include Shakespeare.
Tutors can help students to develop their evaluation skills and go through texts slowly and more in depth than there is time for in the school classroom. Whether your child is struggling with the poetry anthology or needs more help to identify literary techniques in prose, a private tutor can focus their attention on areas of weakness.
Many students need an English tutor for their IB to help them all the way through to their exams. This means, we recommend finding your English tutors at least three months before the big day so you can achieve at least two grades above your current grade level.
