I believe that every student is capable to achieve however, it depends on different levels of support. Some students need more support to achieve whilst some student need less support.
I encourage, motivate and also provide the enabling environment for my students to do more practice. I tell student that “No question is either easy or difficult unless you have a go at the question”. This is because practice makes a man perfect. I differentiate my tasks, activities, contents and outcomes with respect to students’ abilities however, with group work; I can get less able students to be challenged by doing complex tasks with the support of their group members. My teaching skills become so profound when I am working with challenging students. At Peak Academy, I worked with student with emotional and behaviour difficulties; therefore, I can easily identify student’s triggers, interests and constraints. I have developed a pragmatic way of getting students with behaviour issues even on board in my lessons. I assigned them simple roles such as collecting class assignments, cleaning the board, leading scientific debates etc. I follow assertive discipline policy and I use my conflict management skills to resolve students to student or student to staff conflicts.
I am fully registered member of General Teaching Council for Scotland and a Graduate Member of Energy Institute (UK), member of Society of Petroleum Engineers and Association of Project Management. I have also been registered as a member of Society of Petroleum Engineers. Teaching physics involves the translation of the theoretical principles into practical activities.
