I am currently a postgraduate student working for a Masters in English Literature at Oxford University, with the intention of starting a PhD at Oxford next year. I was an undergraduate in English Literature at Cambridge University, where I achieved a First in all three years. I have a huge amount of passion for my subject, which I would love to pass onto others as I tutor them. I also understand the difficulties that studying English literature can pose, however, from structuring essays on set texts to style of writing in unseen work or creative writing, and I am able to help develop these skills and overcome these difficulties. As well as receiving a D1 in English Pre-U, I studied Spanish and Latin Pre-U at Westminster School, receiving a D1 in Spanish and a D2 in Latin. I strongly believe that languages are the most enriching subjects you can study, both intellectually as they challenge you to think more closely about the language and grammar that we use every day (Latin in particular encourages you to think about the roots of our language and the complexities of grammar, something I find particularly interesting), but also practically, as being able to speak Spanish opens up a whole world of people, experiences and opportunities which would otherwise have been impossibilities. With my help, students could conquer these languages and uncover the enriching and exciting possibilities that they offer. I also studied Maths to A-Level, where I received an A*. As someone who studied Maths as a complement to other humanities subjects, I like to think that I have a somewhat unique angle from which I can approach Maths teaching, which may be of help to those who are struggling at Maths and would like an extra helping hand. My main experience has been volunteering-based, as I was a volunteer for 2 years at a special-needs school, where I helped out in the classroom with a range of age-groups, teaching subjects from Science to English. I also have two younger siblings, whom I have helped with their schoolwork for a number of years, in particular informally tutoring my brother in Latin and English.

¡Hola! Soy Berna, from Spain a very experienced and motivated teacher accustomed to deal with all ages students from all over the world. I’m teaching Spanish since 1998, clearly I really love teaching and dealing students. No student is like another and that's why my lessons are always “customer focused”. After checking students’ level, we agree on what are their interests and needs. Then I focus classes transmitting calm, celebrating successes and making see that mistakes are normal and with time and patience they will be overcome. I'm approachable, patient and understanding and my highest priority is efficiency. That’s why my lessons are absolutely “customer focused”: - Grammar. - Conversation. - Vocabulary. - Spanish for Specific Purposes (Healthcare, Tourism and Business Professional). - Preparation for official exams as: DELE, SIELE or Diploma in Spanish for Business. I really love classroom teaching but I'm quite convinced that future teaching is online teaching. ¡Gracias y hasta la vista!

For those whom it may concern, I am an ambitious undergraduate student of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies at Birkbeck College. I have five years’ worth of experience teaching English, Spanish and coding to children (with mamacodes.com). I started my teaching journey during on a 6-month trip to South America where I taught in Honduras, Ecuador and Peru to children and adults alike. Upon arriving back in the UK, I decided I wanted to explore teaching more as a career, so I volunteered with the charity Talking Together that provides free and informal English lessons to women migrants from war torn countries. This was a simple 12-week programme where I taught practical English, however the improvement in my students in this short amount of time led me to realise that teaching is such a satisfying career and something that I had to pursue. After completing my travels and doing a NVQ to become a teacher assistant, I began offering 1:1 English and Maths tuition for primary school children. It wasn't until a few months later that I focused on teaching Spanish and got my first Spanish GCSE student. My private tutoring business took off and I was teaching multiple classes a day (1:1 and groups to children and adults, beginners to advanced) and absolutely loving it! It was exhausted work sometimes, but seeing my students move 3/4 grades in the space of a year and smashing their predicted grades is the most incredible feeling! During this time, I was also supplementing my income through part time work with mamacodes.com as a teaching assistant. Roll on 2020 and the start of the pandemic. Many of my students stopped classes with me due to job losses or a reduced time schedule (balancing work and kids). Because of this I created a profile on italki.com and got straight to work teaching English as a second language. I have been teaching on italki as well as doing the occasional Spanish lesson ever since. I love my work online teaching English, however I also must admit that I adore teaching Spanish - as a university student of Spanish and Latin American Studies, that is where my passion lies. I would also like to reiterate that along with being proficient in English, I am also bilingual in Spanish as well as having an intermediate level of Portuguese and Greek. Growing up learning so many languages has taught me to be adaptable and equipped me with a range of verbal skills. Not only this, but my work as an English teacher has gifted me the pleasure of helping hundreds of people from all walks of life with all kinds of ideas improve their English level. Speaking with so many people has made my confidence and professionalism around clients increase drastically. I have learnt a lot in this time about how to hold engaging conversations and make the client feel valued, seen and heard. Before teaching, I spent 5 years working as a host and coordinator for the massive restaurant chain Nando’s. I worked as a host, greeting customers, dealing with complaints, and finding solutions. I would just like to briefly mention my other hobbies and interests which include practising Reiki and belly dancing, studying empowerment astrology, devoting time to family, and spending time in nature to ground myself.

Hi! My name is Paula, I am a Chilean private tutor who teaches Spanish, EFL and singing. I have been a tutor for over 6 years now. Starting in Chile, I taught international students who needed to learn Spanish in order to integrate to their schools or workplaces. In addition, I helped students that were new to the international school and needed support with EFL in order to successfully take part in their lessons. Around that time, I also began teaching singing lessons privately and as a Music TA. When I moved to London I decided to continue private tutoring as a full-time job, as I find one-on-one lessons to be very fulfilling. It really is very inspiring to be able to help a student gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to expand their horizons. My teaching philosophy is based on setting the highest standards for all my students based on their needs. I firmly believe that a tutor’s highest responsibility is to bring forth the extensive potential of their student while further developing their personal interest and engagement with the subject. Because of my experience working in diverse teaching environments, I have had the pleasure of using different learning styles and creating unique studying atmospheres for students.

Hi! I'm David, a student at the University of Edinburgh. I love reading, cooking, swimming, and playing the piano. I have two years of experience in tutoring, as I spearheaded a volunteering program during my last two years of high school to tutor kids in a wide array of subjects. Therefore, I am trained to tutor in most high school subjects, although I am best at tutoring science subjects (biology, chemistry, and mathematics.) I am always open to new ideas and different methods of teaching in order to provide the best experience for my tutees. I look forward to helping as much as possible, so contact me in order to set up a free trial session, so that we can establish learning goals and design a strategy to achieve them.

Hey, I am a student studying Chemistry at University. I wanted to study Chemistry at uni ever since I started at secondary school, and because my Chemistry teachers continued to inspire me. I have tutored once before during my A levels and it was with a refugee student who not only struggled with Chemistry, but also struggled with fitting in. So I offered my support and planned my lessons beforehand, tested her knowledge after the lessons with exam questions and helped her settle in, feel more confident and consequently improve her grades. I like to structure my lessons by first starting with the aim, what you are going to achieve at the end of the lesson. Then, presenting new material with explanations, and finishing off with questions to test the knowledge and understanding, and offering support and giving clear, detailed instructions and explanations throughout. Please feel free to ask any questions!

I am a very enthusiastic, young, vibrant and confident academic. I make it a priority improving myself everyday, and use every opportunity to motivate those around me to do the same. I pride myself in being very organised, attentive to detail and patient. I have taught for over four years in all subjects and all ages up to A-level, and Economic and business related subjects up to degree level. Further I have taught all types of students with different level abilities and preferences when it comes to teaching styles, all of which I accommodate. Each lesson will be designed to bring out the best in the student, and created to help them reach their goals. I make sure that the student's knowledge is up to date, I assist with current school work that they struggle with, and start to introduce future topics which are more challenging to get them ahead. I use Zoom through which I use a online whiteboard to help illustrate certain topics, take the student through the curriculum, and most importantly build interest in the topic in a real life sense so that they understand the topic rather than just memorising information. Lastly, I prepare the student for exams by practising past questions and giving exam tips. Most importantly I ensure all of my students feel comfortable and enjoy the lessons, through which they are able to engage better which ultimately guarantees more improvements, effective progress and better results! Aside from work I'm very ambitious, spontaneous and adventurous, always looking to motivate those around me, inclusive of my students. Having had been project manager for all university group work and the Course Representative for not only my course class, I like to encourage my students with leadership skills and assist them to improve social skills.

Marcelo G

Spanish Tutor

Marcelo tutored our two boys Spanish for the last six months. He was superb. He made the lessons fun and relevant. The boys really enjoyed their lessons and have excelled at Spanish in school. Marcelo linked in with work the boys were doing at school and helped to reinforce grammar and vocabulary. I would highly recommend Marcelo as a tutor!

James S

Spanish Tutor

My daughter Chloe was struggling with Spanish during Year 11; she failed her mock and was really worried. We found James and he worked steadily with her for the three months leading up to her GCSE. I’m delighted to say she achieved a 6(B)!! Incredible...a fail to a B in only 25 hours tutoring! Thank you James, she couldn’t have done it without you!
